“leisure facilities were great as was the food. For a small hotel it had everything”
Stephen,
Portland
Situated in the leafy lanes of Chelston, Red House Hotel is less than half a mile from Torre Abbey Sands and a short ride from the harbor and town via a bus that passes by the front door. The Red House Hotel is a small, comfortable and well-furnished family hotel with extensive recreational facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, a spa bathtub and a gym. The lounge is particularly nice, with patio doors opening onto the grounds and large picture windows overlooking the indoor pool. Chelston is a charming, tranquil area of Torquay, characterized by its large red stone Victorian villas and village shops. Chelston is very close to the local beaches and a 5-minute bus ride from the center of town. Hotel Rooms: 9

Good facilities and helpful staff. Lovely room. Breakfast was quite poor though. Very greasy fried bread, tinned tomato, tasteless scrambled eggs and the cheapest sausages.

Good night's sleep Long wait at reception before anyone shows up, however it is not a major issue.. Probably just coincidence.

convenient, comfortable, friendly, good food. no shower curtain or towel rails or shelf in the bathroom, this could be due to refurbishing,if so, however, it would have been nice to have been informed of the situation, otherwise on problems.

we only booked for one night but when it rained the following day and we couldn't go out, the staff let us stay all day and use the pool as well, which was very thoughtful. the pool was, incidentally, lovely. a crazy girl running up and down the corridors at about 1.30am shouting "morning campers!".

The facilites were good, staff very friendly and helpfull. The room was nice apart from the shower which didnt seem to drain properly, and u had to stand in a pool of water, also we had to wait for atleast 20minutes before another could get in. The room would do with not just a blind but atleast a curtain in adittion to the blind if not a black out blind.

The Red House Hotel was a very nice place to stay, very nice settings just on the outskirts of Torquay, in a 'leafy suburb' which is only a 15/20minute walk into town. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, we arrived quite early before check in and asked if we could leave our bags at the hotel while we went into the town, they said this was no problem and when we returned they had taken them up to our room for us. The room was of a good size, very clean and bright. The matress on the bed was comfy to sleep and sit on, there was more than ample storage for luggage. It had a good sized en suite bathroom (that only lacked a shower). There are very good facilities to use at the hotel like an indoor & outdoor pool, games room, sauna, gym and more, which is very good for such a reasonably priced hotel. The cooked breakfast was very nice, there was also a good selection of cold breakfast to choose from (the lady serving breakfast even offered to cook us some toast to take away for my friend who did not come down for breakfast). The Staff were very attentive at all times of our stay. It was a pleasure to stay there. I would definitely recommend it to others and I would happily stay there again in the future. A very welcoming place. Highly Recommended. The only minor problem was that there was no room in our shower. Only a shower pipe that you manually attach to the taps. Also as our bed was metal, it squeaked a little bit. But im picking now, as these really aren't worth mentioning really.
