Noisy room - overlooked a yard and early morning deliveries interrupted sleep. Pretty basic facilities for the price.
Friendly, good atmosphere, happy staff, value for money room , hot water ,readily available bar food and drinks.
Very warm welcome from the staff. My bed was so comfortable and slept like like a log. I woke up when my alarm went off and I thought I was in my own bed and was going to work that morning, when I realised that I was actually in my hotel room!!! ☺ Breakfast was excellent!
I just wished the staff asked me for a toast whilst I was having breakfast and a refill of coffee would have been nice. But the food was great.
Two of the people could have been placed at the festival place side of the hotel as the night clubs were very noisy.
Town centre location with free parking. Good breakfast Helpful staff Economical
Old cramped rooms Needs upgrade poor housekeeping
the hotel in the town center, staff very friendly, rooms very clean and cosy ,cleaning staff also friendly and helpful food very good ,found breakfast times very helpful when going out for the day, over all we found all 100%
The Red Lion has excellent access to restaurants, shopping, and leisure activities. The staff is curtious and helpful.
In general, the hotel could use a freshening up.
being in the center of Basingstoke
one way system to reach the car park
The room was old and tired and in need of work - generally the whole hotel needs to be updated.
Close to station, lovely disabled facilities, very quiet, good price. Staff helpful.
Told that last orders for food was 9.15pm, got back at 9.02 after telling desk it would then to find chef had left, too late for an elderly disabled lady to get a taxi to go out again. Unable to close room window but staff sorted it for me, bed very hard for my arthritis.
I liked the location, the price, your staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was a decent choice and room was an adequate size. Towel warmer was on ready and water was piping hot. I would be happy to recommend as a fair one night stay budget hotel. When I needed a VAT receipt the team were incredibly helpful and this was much appreciated,
There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, the decor in public areas quite scruffy and my mattress had a dip in it. Breakfast was warm although a good selection. There was hair dangling from the shower pipe and on the bath. The menu is quite limited.
Price was very reasonable as we were stuck between houses and needed somewhere to sleep!
The rooms are very small and the breakfast is not great but it is value for money.
Myself and my partner stay at your hotel regularly yet our most recent stay was a real disappointment. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable and the room was freezing, real shame.
The service of the staff were good. They were approaching and very helpful
The pillow was a little flat and soft. Yes, I could have requested for more pillow but I thought this could be area the hotel may like to improve on.
The location, the staff, easy car parking.
Lack of atmosphere in bar and restaurant. Heating in rooms too high and not variable. Additional pillows for bed, 2 x per person. Rooms and hotel in general would benefit from images of Basingstoke & historic pictures of hotel. No real "where to" guide in room.
Centre of town
When we first arrived the hotel room allocated to us had a broken window and the toilet didnt flush however the hotel quickly acted for us, upgrading us to a nice room and also gave us a complementry drink :) some really friendly staff too :)
The lack of debate when I refused to pay.
Being sent an email from the hotel apologising in advance for noise from drunkards in the street late at night (2 days before arrival to reduce any real likely chance of finding some where else). However, they did not point out that these are the type of guests staying at the hotel too. Indeed I was woken from 2am to 4am by a couple crashing about in the next room while shouting at each other in a drunken argument of selfish idiots. Given the horrendous lack of sound insulation, doors that will slam too easily and general flimsy build quality, -this was only one of many noises working in concert to ensure no peace at any time. For example, any sleep lost at night is compounded by very early morning by the plumbing, which gives guests a blow by blow commentary of every last single piece of fecal matter that might pass through a pipe in your room from another. So what was to be a good night's sleep prior to my wedding for my father and best men, -was in fact just over 2 hours sleep and a very trying weight of exhaustion on us all. While this hotel should not be in business, -it also staggers belief that booking.com would advertise such a place. I will think very hard on any hotel being offered on this site in the future.
Central town location. 10min walk from train station.
If it's a weekend, expect noise from late night opening bars.
Rooms dated and tired Uncomfortable bed No extra pillows Shower didn't work Noisy
Cental location close to all amenities.
All decor tired and shabby in need of updating. The floor boards extremely squeaky so consequently could here people in the next room moving around woken at 05.15 ! Room doors require a key to open and had to be slammed closed when entering and leaving the room, so again woken when people were retuning-to their rooms in the early hrs of the morning. I was provided with tea and coffee on arival but this was not replenished during my two day stay.
That is a hard question. The help was good.
The extra blanket was filthy but we used it to cover the mattress. The bed was hard and lumpy. The chair was not comfortable. No a/c. Window opened a little so noise from street was disturbing. No place for toiletries. No fridge.
Breakfast is fantastic
Small bed size for two people
Room was a bit smelly like old furniture smell
Location of Hotel is first Class,With car parking a bonus
Lack of choice in hotel bar,no choice of differant beers or single malt whiskeys, food looked a bit blend and location of resturant next to bar not ideal.
