Central location, great for restaurants and bars
Excellent location good breakfast friendly staff
Room size, cleanliness and abundant facilities
Restaurant staff at breakfast friendly and helpful
An excessive price of £124 per night - well overpriced
Room was clean and the location was good.
Décor was tatty - stains on ceiling above shower. TV almost fell off the wall when tried to adjust slightly. The room was advertised with a bath and it had a shower, I asked reception if there was another room available with a bath and was told that you were fully booked!! On a Tuesday evening???
A huge improvement from my last stay, tea and coffee available, needed a remote control for the tv, this was provided immediately. Staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfast lovely. Room was spotless and warm. It definitely helped going for a standard double instead of a small double, it felt for more adequate.
Staff very pleasant. Room nice and large.
Bathroom and decor a little tired.
The hotel was very clean and comfortable!! It was also very homely and the bed was the comfiest hotel bed ive ever slept in! The breakfast was also very good!! Right in the centre of town with bars, clubs and restaurants within 5mins walk!!
No fridge in room and no wifi in room!
The staff were friendly and the room was clean.
Expensive wifi in the room( a real bug bear of mine). Bed not very comfortable and very basic room for not a cheap price. I have paid a lot less for an awful lot better. The hotel appeared to need some tlc and on checking out I did see a notice of administration which may explain that, Sorry to say I will not be staying again should I visit Basingstoke.
Receptionists very pleasant as was cleaning staff. Food provided for breakfast was good.
The restuarant staff were quite indifferent - no cleared table when we arrived in dining room and after standing around for some time had to ask if a table could be cleared for us and then had to ask for tea and toast.
Good location and handy for town and place i was doing business
Food was a bit bland and if price was £20 cheaper i would agree the value was excellent. But at £86 for night it was a bit steep. Also 1 member of staff was a bit rude and unhelpful. Only minor picky point in what was a reasonably good visit
Staff were helpful and friendly. Sorted out any problems well.
Noise on the Saturday when there was a wedding which on until very late
very clean in a good location for my needs
very poor bed and very old hard pillows putting two very floppy pillows in one pillow case making them very hard mattress needs binning as springs could be felt where ever you laid the door to the pavement was locked when i came back at 8.45pm. It is a shame as i stayed on28-9-14 in room 7 the bed was still past its sell by date but not quite as bad i will be coming to basingstoke quite often to visit my mum in a care home and to visit family but will not be staying at the red lion again this last visit was in room 6
central position with parking, good sized room, good buffet breakfast
our room needed updating, shower was scaled up making ineffecient
Breakfast was very good and the hotel was central to the town
The bathroom was a little dated
The room was good .the food in the evening was very nice and the girl very helpful.
The breakfast was cold ! You had to ask to have coffee and toast. Given to you ! No toaster or coffee or tea earn !!!!! Staff not interested at all ?
Location was good Friendly staff
Room quite small Bed smaller than description on site
The location - right next to the town centre, the room and the breakfast.
This review is based on a one-night stay on a Saturday. Our room overlooked London St, one of the main entertainment areas in the town. As a consequence it was incredibly noisy, and I mean VERY incredibly noisy, and we were unable to get any sleep until 0400 hrs. Very disappointing as everything else about the hotel was excellent.
Smoking area outside was directly under our room which made the room stink of cigarette smoke.
Location and nice staffs
Noisy room - overlooked a yard and early morning deliveries interrupted sleep. Pretty basic facilities for the price.
Friendly, good atmosphere, happy staff, value for money room , hot water ,readily available bar food and drinks.
Very warm welcome from the staff. My bed was so comfortable and slept like like a log. I woke up when my alarm went off and I thought I was in my own bed and was going to work that morning, when I realised that I was actually in my hotel room!!! ☺ Breakfast was excellent!
I just wished the staff asked me for a toast whilst I was having breakfast and a refill of coffee would have been nice. But the food was great.
Two of the people could have been placed at the festival place side of the hotel as the night clubs were very noisy.
Town centre location with free parking. Good breakfast Helpful staff Economical
Old cramped rooms Needs upgrade poor housekeeping
