They did not tell us there was to be a function on and the noise was terrible most of the night .Kids running up and down the corridors. When we went for breakfast the dining room had not been cleaned from the night before. Not good

the location is in the centre of an attractive town, Wendover with interesting shops. The decor is tired and the carpets looked a bit grubby.

Friendly welcome. Bar noise that could be heard from the room stopped abrubtly before 11pm Within easy travel distance of destination & nice walks around the area. Bathroom facilities need to look cleaner - shower screen was green at the bottom (needs a good clean up)

Nice staff..2 Girls on reception and Enid in the restaurant all very friendly and helpful... Nice restaurant... Great breakfast... Room was disappointing..very small.. Bathroom tiny...not great value at £110 a night for a hotel a long way outside London....and just a small thing...lovely pub in the bars and restaurant with big old fireplace that was never lit even though weather was V. Cold....

Evening Meal and Breakfast were both very enjoyable For £6.50 each our local friends could have joined us for Breakfast. But we didn't find out about this until after we'd sat down for breakfast in the morning.

Excellent value and service; the most friendly welcome ever. Lovely room too. Staff were exceptionally helpful - nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The duvet had been laundered but had an unsightly stain. The bath plug mechanism was broken so couldn't empty the bath. Needs a new mattress!

Hotel staff very friendly, nice clean rooms, great shower. All the facilities you need. Very good breakfast in morning, lots of choice. Parking on site not a problem. 5 Minutes walk to lots of eating places. Good value for money. There was nothing to dislike.

Liked the layout and being in a really old inn. The room was large, warm and comfortable as was the bathroom. The breakfast was good too. There is a fusty smell about the whole hotel which put me off initially and I tracked it down the the cleaning materials used. This would be easy enough to rectify by using something else and would make such a difference. The fire door outside room 5 where we stayed needs oiled and squeaked very loudly through the night. This would only take a minute or so to do and shows a lack of attention to detail and to customers' comfort.

Overall a very good hotel with very pleasant staff - food was good and I would recommend the hotel - I will stay there again when working in this area. Room was slightly tired and could do with a bit of a make over, but nothing too serious.

Lovely and historic hotel right in the heart of Wendover. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. We had a problem with our room and they moved us straight away. We were allocated a room at the front of the wing of the Red Lion, facing onto to the road which we found too noisy. The communal door made a lot of noise and there was a loose manhole cover in the road which made a noise every time a car went over it. However, we asked to be moved and they put us in a much quieter room at the back of the wing. We will definitely return to the Red Lion, but will specify a room in the main body of the hotel.
