We had our honeymoon there 50 years ago and returned for our golden wedding. It was excellent then and 50 years later it was better still. It was well worth waiting 50 years

Very helpful staff, excellent location for walking holiday (not shopping). Very good food but too tempting so not good for weight. Can step out into footpath beside river and hike many routes. Will come again!

The warm welcome and the fact that we were upgraded - probably due to the fact that they had the space and that we had stayed there before. The restaurant meal was excellent though the bar meals - many of which were the same - also loooked good. Great atmosphere; comfortable residents lounge. Reasonable prices and good value for money Slightly uneven stairs in the old building might be an issue for people with mobility problems but the annexe is fine in this regard.

The hotel is run by a family and all aspects of the guests comfort was of paramount importance to them. Small touches in the room such as the offer of fresh milk for the tea and coffee, a wide selection of teas and a caffeteire all made that extra difference. The shower facilities were of a very high standard. We are already looking forward to a return visit.

The situation in a small wharfedale village is excellent with views of the river and fells. There are so many walks, well signposted, from the gentle stroll to a stiff hill climb! The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The food, although called bar meals, is excellent. The breakfast was so good that it helped to get the visitor out of the bright well appointed room and the very comfortable bed!

It is a famly business. There is attention to detail. Very comprehensive folder of information in room. Service was efficient. You can eat in the dining room or in the bar. Our room came with log burning stove for those chilly winter days (though does have large radiator too!) Molton Brown in the bathroom. Breakfast orange juice freshly squeezed porridge freshly made, eggs cooked as you like them. Not really. We missed that they offer tea brought to the room in the morning so we would have liked better advertising of that.

Hard to say as we liked the whole experiance. The food was amazing both evening meal and breakfast. The staff were so freindly and polite. The location couldnt be better and the room was lovely with every little thing you could maybe expect in a hotel room provided and more besides even down to dressing gowns!.

I had inadvertently left behind food for the dogs!! And due to the remote locality and hour, I was in the position of not been able to feed the dogs for that day? Explaining my position to the night bar staff, he appeared with scraps from the kitchen. (Good stay, excellent conditions & surroundings, recommended)

It was clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Because we were with other people staying in the Red Lion we were upgraded from the Manor House as there was a room available.

This hotel never disappoints me as I have stayed a couple of times to relax fishing and walking nearby, there are good views from the hotel and the river is next to it. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, food is excellent although not pub prices, so if you are looking for somewhere a bit special to stay then this is the place to stay and unwind. In the Yorkshire dales away from it all.

Red Lion was in an ideal setting for a wedding we were attending at a hotel 5 minutes down the road. The hotel seems to be very popular with hikers and cyclists and although we weren't able to stay for dinner, the menu seemed very appealling! We stayed in the Manor House rather than the Hotel, which was kept to a very high standard. Arriving early and with a toddler in tow, reception very kindly checked us in and allowed us to use the room to drop our bags off before the normal check in time. Friendly staff, beautiful village, highly recommended.

The proprietor was extremely helpful when we had a problem with the room we had booked. All the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The room(s) were furnished to a very high standard and I liked the Moulson & Brown toiletries in re-usable containers. The original room we booked was far too small for the needs of 2 people and Booking.Com did not warn us that the rooms in the Manor House were 'compact'

After reading many bad reviews about the Red Lion, I had been really worried that we would not enjoy our stay, especially as there was a wedding party booked and I had fears of thumping music going on into the early hours. However, I was pleasantly suprised. All the staff were very welcoming, the food was good and service in the restaurant was very efficient. The room was clean, nicely decorated and the bed one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Although the B&B rate is on the high side, the location is lovely and the family certainly work hard to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay.
