We had our honeymoon there 50 years ago and returned for our golden wedding. It was excellent then and 50 years later it was better still. It was well worth waiting 50 years

Very helpful staff, excellent location for walking holiday (not shopping). Very good food but too tempting so not good for weight. Can step out into footpath beside river and hike many routes. Will come again!

We had no complaints at all. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was perfect. The location was wonderful. Thank you all for making our holiday one to remember. Its very friendly atmosphere. If I lived in the village it would certainly be my local.

The food was excellent and good value. Paid a lot more for so called fancier meals in Leeds that weren't nearly as good! The staff were pleasant and the service was good. The room was cosy and clean with good facilities. Would highly recommend the Red Lion to anyone and will certainly stay again. There was nothing not to like!

We booked this last minute but well worth it. Staff are very helpful and polite. We ate in the restaurant and the meal was superb!x The room was small but comfortable. The only fault I would say was that the bed was not a kingsize and had a footboard so Max had to sleep on the diagonal being 6ft 2.

Location Trying to communicate with Eastern European staff with little English. Mistakes being made with food orders. Evening meal was disappointing.

Convenient Booking acknowledgement sent alarm bells ringing - seems very unfriendly and unhelpful. Not a fair judgement since, realising we could not check in within their desired hours, they did phone to check the situation and were quite accommodating - but no more than I would expect for the price. The double bed was a very strange shape, barely long enough for me (5'8"), but about 8' wide. After more than 30 years of marriage, this is possibly the furthest the wife & I have slept apart.

The room was lovely and the setting was very tranquil ! Wasn't too impressed with breakfast facilities and service . We were seated on a table next to the main table containing cereals and had people too close queuing whilst we were seated . The tables were too close together . Also found a member of the waiting staff quite rude , I was eating my toast and she reached straight across me to remove a bowl ! I had to stop eating and pull back , there was no excuse me or apology .....

Location, Burnsall is beautiful, with easy access to surrounding areas. The staff at Red Lion really are an asset to the hotel, very efficient, attentive, with nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent, varied and cooked to perfection, particularly liked the game. We thought that for the price the facilities were very limited, our room was dated, we have stayed in historic hotels where the furnishings have been very classy without detracting from the history of the building. There was no phone in the room, we had to hunt for a socket to use the kettle and there was only 2 biscuits on the tea tray, a bit mean we thought, didn't help as we didn't like the 2 there! Our room was also very noisy, it was above the restaurant, fair enough, but afterwards there was a lot of banging and moving of furniture, with staff talking loudly and giggling when we were trying to sleep. Wouldn't recommend staying here, but definitely to use the restaurant.

It's perfect for rambling.super views.very good food and choice of wine at reasonable prices Inadequate area for pre dinner drinks without going to the table.some of the dining furniture was in poor condition and could be dangerous eg chairs although our circular table was unstable.I don't think it was clear on your website that the Manor house was not attached to the main inn and consequently we were very grateful to have been upgraded on arrival.we were very pleased with our room.

Old style inn, a beautiful setting and a very good room and facilities. The fires in the pub and lounge not lit, even though it was a cold night.

We married in the lounge 4 years ago & returned for our anniversary. We love the relaxed family run atmosphere,a perfect balance between formality & informality. It is well-run,all staff make you feel your enjoyment is paramount & so welcoming. Evening meal & breakfast were superb, great choice of real ales & wines. The hotel itself is so quaint with stairs, floors & doors at all angles adding to the occasion. So different to modern hotels. Just loved it. Thanks to all there.

Everything- the fact they upgraded us to the top price room (17) the fine dining food inc choice of menu and quality of food/wines/ beers. Friendliness and attentiveness of staff, late check out facility. Nothing was too much trouble Slight language problems with the breakfast waitress.

We have a dog and was told they accepted pets by prior arrangement, once I booked the hotel I rang them and asked if we could bring our dog, they said they have some pet friendly rooms and swapped us to one. I was a bit apprehensive as I thought maybe we would not get quality but I was mistaken, our room was perfect, the thing that made it pet friendly was the wooden floor which was in keeping with the décor. We stayed in room 3 at the Red Lion and thought it was perfect. We couldn't eat in the main restaurant but ate in a snug off the bar area as dogs were welcome here, again it was perfect, would definitely stay here again.
