pillows in bedroom were very very soft and gave no support.Breakfast was cold, but rectified when told about it,staff very apologetic and second breakfast very good.
Stunning setting. Good food Nice atmosphere. Close to peaceful countryside Helpfulness of staff
Excellent supper and breakfast request for early breakfast no problem immaculate room and decor
Minor picky points about hospitality tray in room decor looking a little tired in corridors etc
Comfortable Inn with good food and excellent service.
location was great ,walks down by the river , staff , cleanliness throughout and around the grounds .all in all a lovely and enjoyable break , would definitely visit again and recommend to my family and friends
beakfast menu was great but the main meal menu didn't have enough selection . also abit pricey . having to go to main building to collect milk should have something a small cooler in reception of manor house so people stopping in that part can access milk there , wifi only assessable in one part of the building , no tv in residents lounge ,music or entertainment would be nice
The location. The staff were very friendly
The bedroom was very shaby, dark and dingy. The shower was minute. A large man would not be able to use it. Very bad for the price
After a comfortable nights sleep, we had an excellent breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Loved having a bath for a nice soak! The food was amazing. Had beautiful tender venison with black pudding and red cabbage. Hubby had an equally delicious steak. Cosy bed too. I liked the quaint atmosphere and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Location of hotel beside the river. Slightly quirky room with opportunity to light an open log fire in room. Comfortable and homely appearance of hotel. Good substantial breakfast.
Reception staff we're very welcoming and accommodating. I left my purse outside on the tables and one of the owners (sorry I'm not sure who it was)ran outside looking for us after someone had given it in. She recognised my name from the booking. Thanks so much for that excellent customer service. We booked a table as recommended for the evening when we arrived at 10.30am. The restaurant was fully booked so we were due to eat in the bar. We had a Double room in the actual inn which was lovely and quaint, though we were surprised at how much rooms cost at full price (ours was reduced). We presumed it was due to location. Lovely view from room over the village and river. Very impressed with the CD collection in the room. The bathroom was well stocked with Molton and Brown products and bathrobes were provided. Had a lovely meal though the service was very slow for some reason. My husband asked the barman and he sorted it straight away. Good choice at breakfast and service very efficient.
The residents' lounge chairs need refurbishing - a little shabby in accommodation of this standard.
We LOVED the Red Lion: a comfortable country inn with comfortable homely rooms, lovely toiletries, wonderful staff, brilliant food and picturesque surroundings.
Some of the decor is a little tired, but it's an old building so that barely qualifies as a criticism.
Fabulous location, quirky characterful inn and annexe, gorgeous dining, ever-so-friendly-&-attentive staff.
2 smallish chairs, or a couch would have been better than just one armchair - double room / 2 people? - I chose tails & got to sit on the bed. Oh, & bathroom ventilation: please fit an extractor.

Accommodation in the Manor House
The breakfast and the staff were excellent - plenty of tea and toast - breakfast itself was very good. Drinks were very pricey - £11.50 for two medium sized merlot red wine . Thewfacilities provided in the room however, were good - iron and ironing board, good quality hairdryer & excellent toiletrienes.
The room was very basic - bedding and towels not up to the standard of similar hotels. TV - only very basic channels . En suite said compact - but we did not realise how compact - my husband had to come out turn round when he was showering
Scenery, riverside walk, bathroom toiletries
Evening meal by the riverside
Full english breakfast was on the small side
Compact rooms really were compact a bit too small for two people
Lovely pub/inn with excellent food in the most beautiful location. Well worth the price!
Comfortable, cosy snd clean facilities for a group of walkers. Also the helpfulness of staff especially when we had not booked for an evening meal and they managed to fit us in
Picturesque location Good food
Rooms very small especially the ensuite Canisters of coffee instead of sachets in the bedrooms - not very hygienic
The staff were excellent! Really attentive and helpful. the breakfast was good and came quickly!
The room and the room facilities! The room was so noisy as people walked by right up until 2am. The pillows were old and extremely uncomfortable and the shower was a trickle and it was hard to even wash shampoo out of my hair!
Everything was just as expected
Location, friendly staff, good breakfast
The breakfast was amazing and so were the meals. Loved room 3. Luxury.
TV in room was old.
Family run, friendly atmosphere. Everyone seemed happy to be there. A welcoming place.
