it was quiet - not a single customer in the pub downstairs all evening. staff were very helpful, couldn't have been any nicer, but the facilities were just too poor for the price. black mildew in bathroom, very old, very uncomfortable bed, very old, very poor over bath shower (water ran from the hosing, but not from the spray end), room very cold (no heating on, overnight temp was 3 degrees), nasty old pillows and duvet that smelt stale

Very friendly staff, excellent food and good value for money. If returning to the hotel in the dark, lack of lighting made it difficult to enter the door key in both the outside door and the entry door to the room. Also lack of internal lighting at floor level made it difficult to see the steps that were referred to in the warning notices.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The food and service was excellent. They were very accommodating when we needed to stay an extra night. Our room was cold when we returned about 17.30, due to the chilly evening weather and heating did not come on until after we had gone down to dinner. I did mention it to a staff member but the situation remained throughout our stay. We were charged extra for breakfast, which we did not realise until we got home. Following a call to the hotel the money was immediately refunded and the mix up explained as a problem with the change of advert on Booking.Com from bed and breakfast to room only. If they were not closing down at the end of this year, we would have booked again for next year.

Very nice friendly atmosphere - a shame it is closing down Our friends who also booked through your web site were charged twice for all breakfasts (we stayed an extra night as well). Did not notice this oversight until they got home. Booking included breakfast and they were charged it as an extra. When they contacted the hotel they had problems in speaking to someone who could deal with this and I am not sure if they have actually received their rebate or not.

The location for the city of exeter was great, not too far out, easy for buses etc. The room was ideal, and we liked the idea of the wet room. The breakfast was lovely just enough to start of the day.All in all value for money.Have already recommended to other people whern travelling to exeter.

Booked the Red House due to reading good reviews. All justified! We stayed for a couple of nights for a family wedding nearby. All was good and we would recommend the Rde House to anyone else and wouldn't hesitate to return ourselves I won't mention that the chef ran out of vegetarian sausages on Sunday!

Extremely frie4ndly staff;l warm welcome and good food. Noise - although it wasn't unpleasant it was very nosy up until about 3 am - I think it was coming from the car park and not necessarily from within the hotel.
