This is a well located bed & breakfast located in the center of Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds. The inn is more than 300 years ago that has updated rooms. The breakfast was a typical English breakfast.
Comfortable stay in excellent location.
Soggy batter on fish spoiled an otherwise excellent dinner.
We were a family of 6 and had 3 rooms on 3 different levels. All rooms were very comfortable and charming but the one on the first floor is the largest by far and had a huge bathroom. This was also easiest access with luggage as no elevator so the others had to drag theirs up one or two levels of steps. Loved the bar/dining area inside and the patio outside was a great place to eat or have a drink.
A little noisy because it sits on a busy corner. No air conditioning.
Cosy, immaculately clean room.
We had a very smart and comfortable room with cabin shower. Very good breakfast Good parking Typical country inn atmosphere.
The Red Lion is in the centre of Chipping Campden. Everything is at your doorstep: restaurants, shops, local attractions. We ran out of superlatives to describe the town. The accommodation was cosy and comfortable with a sunny outdoor area for relaxing after a busy day sightseeing.
Our room was in the gabled roof. We had to duck to get in the door. It was clean and comfortable, but I hardly slept. If claustrophobia is an issue ask about your room. This isn't the one for you.
Excellent evening meal
Food and location were great, staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was clean.
Unfortunately if you are above 4ft this is not the place for you. Would be worth the Inn stating that the 'Small' double room is in fact a loft with a bathroom in a cupboard. Would have been good to know this as we would have gone elsewhere. Also for the price the room was very expensive for the size. The bed also very uncomfortable and rickety. Another note, the rooms above the first floor would be very awkward for someone not as agile as ourselves (narrow stairs and have to contort to get into room). Aside from this our stay was fine.
Friendly staff. Wi-fi included. Excellent breakfast. Convenient location. Free on-site parking. English beers. Talkative parrot at breakfast time! Good value.
Noise from traffic at night and early in the mornings. Windows had to be left open as the weather was warm. Double glazing and A/Con required in The Majors Room!
We had a large spacious room on the ground floor. While next to the road and busy corner there was little traffic noise. The style of room was typical of a traditional English pub. Easy parking in back court yard. Friendly staff and well located. Could recommend.
Extra hanging space in the wardrobe and an extra chair in the bedroom.
Had a lovely weekend here loved everything about the place highly recommend it.
Free parking, breakfast
Very noisy plumbing in rooms, woke us frequently throughout the night
Check-in times on Booking.com are too often different from reality.
Location was right at heart of village. Parking available. Excellent breakfast. No noise from pub as room was round corner from pub
During this holiday we stopped at a number of hotels. The Red Lion was the cheapest and was more spacious than the larger more expensive city hotels we had stopped at. The location right in the centre of Chipping Campden was fabulous. The food in the evening and at breakfast time was excellent.
The location and price were excellent, and included a full English breakfast. We took the least expensive room which is the top floor and slanted on both sides, so not a good fit if you're tall, but fine for us. It was perfect for us, but we were only looking for a place to sleep. The first and second floor rooms are larger and would be more comfortable for a couple who wanted to spend more time in their room.
There wasn't internet in the rooms, only in the bar and patio right outside it.
Our stay here was more than we could have imagined. The room was spotless and the staff was supurb. This 400 year old pub/hotel is soooooo charming and unique. It made a great end to our vacation.
nothing was bad
Food was disappointing, especially after reading good reports Discussed with hotel who commented it was a supplier problem, not a cooking issue
Location was very good. Room and food very good. Was a hot weekend and the water and fan in the room was much appreciated.
Position ,good central location in the Cotswold.Ample parking.
Room too small,very low eaves,claustrophobic.
We had both the attic room which were decorated lovely. The location was perfect for walking around town and being able to get to the main roads quickly. We had lunch in the pub and it was tasty and a fair price.
The showers were small and hard to move around in without hitting the wall, doors or soap dispenser.
Out door area was very relaxing. We ate two very good evening meals. The parrot is a gem.
Nothing apart from being surprised at the noise of early morning traffic.
Everything. The location, the very friendly and helpful staff and the food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast! Will def return
