Lack of kitchen equipment, grubby crockery
Generally clean. Good location.
Smell of drains in the wet room/toilet. Very basic level of furnishing/equipment (eg only 2 cereal bowls for 4 people and no tea towel for us to dry the 2 bowls ready for the next 2 people). Lounge quite dark (could be improved by clearing debris from the street level grating to allow more light in)

i like how they handle situation like what happened to us the first one that they book for us was double book ending up they have to find another one.
i don't like that you booked the accommodation ahead of time ending up waiting for long hours on the street because the apartment that we booked apparently they give it to someone else...
We were attracted by the location and the reasonable price
Regency Apartments CANCELLED OUR BOOKING 4 hours before we arrived (via text!), during May Ball week, with Cambridge being >90% booked They claimed a water leak. I believe this was a lie since I have read other reviews saying similar things (fires etc.) and on speaking to other apartments, they said they had done it before. They were also renting out rooms two days later. On trying to contact them in reply, they didn't answer the phones or reply emails. I am therefore concluding they simply double book rooms and then choose the highest bidder. DO NOT BOOK That is all James
My Reservation was cancelled because of a booking error and the persons had no option to stay for the first day for me..... really bad if the town is fully booked.
Kitchen area and bedroom nicely fitted out. Good central location.
Bathroom poorly designed - to sit on the toilet you had to slide your knees under the washbasin - it would be difficult for a larger or less flexible person. Light at top of stairs could only be switched on at the top. Tiny TV. Poorly maintained, poorly serviced, poor comms. Details: maintenance - tiles missing in bathroom (some stacked behind toilet!), 5 lightbulbs not working, paintwork chipped, blown plaster. Service: stair carpet filthy, dirty tea towel screwed up under sink, no bath mat, bin bag too small to fit in kitchen bin. Comms: despite booking 6 weeks in advance, we weren't told that the entrance was in Victoria Street, not Emmanuel Road, and given the wrong PIN to get in - as a result we were trying the wrong door with the wrong PIN. On phoning, also told that the credit card had not been charged as 'my children have thrown the machine in the toilet'. Given that booking.com says that the card is charged at the time of booking, amazed that 6 weeks was not enough time to get a new machine. Was asked to leave cash, which I declined to do, as not sure whether the card had already been charged (or whether it was a tax avoidance scam). Could have got much better for the price.

For a longer stay, location and size of the apartment both good. In my case, good internet access for email. Minor repairs done quickly - not so more important ones.
The lack of essential (advertised) equipment, above all a working washing machine. For a longer stay, this is essential - a structural problem with drainage needs to be tackled. Also a shortage of some kitchen utensils (kettle, coffee pot).
The location is great. Beds are comfy. Owner is accommodating and helpful.
The cleanliness of the apartment was not good and, although it is possibly a work in progress, some areas were shabby, especially the entrance (outside and in), hallway, bathroom and staircase. Two living room (basement) windows which look onto walled areas could be tidied to look more aesthetically pleasing. Not enough crockery provided and no dish cloth/tea towels. Parking is a huge problem, especially when arriving late at night. Only resident parking allowed in street and car parks nearby are expensive for any length of stay. Front bedroom noisy as it faces a main road. Security not good, as door is opened by key pad only with no facility to lock the door from inside once in situ (unnerving for some of the younger guests).

the finish left a bit to be desired- not all the lights worked, wires needed tucking in. I wouldn't call it a luxury apartment unless there were things like a place to put your toiletries in the shower, a mirror over the sink, etc Little bit noisy
Bed was comfortable and clean.
The main door at street level had no way of being locked form the inside; left me feeling extremely vulnerable - didn't sleep very well at night due to this.
Location was fabulous, you can access everywhere on foot.
The whole apartment needed a really good clean. The wet room was very grubby and smelled damp. Many of the bulbs in the rooms had blown and needed replacing and there were only 2 mugs in a four person apartment. The whole place needs some attention.
The fact that it was near to the Cambridge city centre
The place was dirty poorly maintained noisy (traffic noise mainly busses) The bathroom was a disgrace as it was both rubbish and dirty as well as poorly laid out
The fact it had 2 bedrooms and a kichten/livingroom. Near to park with playground for little childern. Close to the city center.
Narrow corridor, narrow staircase to livingroom. Small somewhat unconvient bathroom. Noisy in room with street/parkview as window 'rattles'.
Nice and big with good size bedrooms and a kitchen/diner with large seating area. Access from kitchen through double doors to an outside eating area, ideal for any smokers in the group. Very good location near centre.
Unfortunately the apartment was in much need of a clean. The floors were particularly dirty as was the bathroom floor and there were some holes in the ceilings. The pillows need to be replaced as they smell of damp. We did not let this spoil our stay however and with some TLC, this apartment could be perfect.
We would have been thrilled, had we been able to stay there, purely for the prime location.
I am disappointed with the outcome of the booking. I do understand unexpected problems arise. That being the case I would have expected the people responsible to contact us URGENTLY by any means possible considering they had my phone number from the original booking. The booking was made based on the LOCATION, being pretty much city centre, for my elderly parents. On arriving we were told it was not available due to water damage and given keys to another (very nice) apartment. The new location was not a suitable substitute at all for my parents. too far to walk to the city centre, nor were there bus stops close by. If the booking had been for myself, I would not have been entirely happy with the new location, but possibly made do with a reduced fee to cover taxis into the town centre. It not suitable for elderly people who would also need a rest through the day. I had booked for the location in order that my parents could be in & out of the apartment in Cambridge as they felt able. The email notification which had been sent around 1130am, but only available to me once we had got online after arriving in Cambridge made NO mention of the change. The email told me where to collect the key and the apartment address - as though this new apartment was the one I had booked, rather than The Regency Apartment I had booked. Had I been contacted in good time, it may have been possible for the same company to find us something suitable. As it was I needed to find alternative accomodation on the spot and with little option but to pay peak season rates for a 3night booking there and then. Poor customer service and care from the organisers of Regency Apartments.
