It was near to our family Hotel looked in need of some money spending on it. Choice of menu for dinner was poor. Food was badly cooked ( we had ham, egg and chips and gammon steak - not difficult to prepare). The bar area was dark and ice and lemon was not offered with our drinks although it was eventually produced. Whole place was run down and in need of being properly managed.

Nice Victorian building though in need of refurbishment Might be a nice Victorian building but noise noise noise from everywhere. There was also a wedding reception taking place from 2- midnight no warning or apology for the noise or inconvenience.

The young guy on reception was very helpful over the missing tv remote control. It would be handy if reception had information of nearest locality for eating out (only found by searching along london road towards town). Very happy though.

It was cosy and relatively quiet. Most staff were friendly. The Wi Fi kept dropping out. I also thought the mattress protectors were uncomfortable and hot.

Lovely shared spaces and dining area , good breakfast, good information at arrival. polite helpful staff. easy to park and access from A47 our room ( rm 1) was over the dining area, so it was abit noisy in the evening of an event. There were only 5 TV channels and Broadband slow so my teenage son a litle bored in the room- if we had stayed more days this may have been a problem!

The location is good as it is only twenty minutes walking from the city centre, and being on the London Road it is easily accessible from the south. We had stayed at The Regency Hotel twice before and felt it was very good value for money. On this occasion, we were given a cramped, slightly tired looking double room. We were instructed to pay upfront at reception and were not made to feel particularly welcome by the young male receptionist. Breakfast was served between 7 and 9 am. We slightly overslept and arrived in the breakfast room just after 8.45. Nobody greeted us, so we helped ourselves to fruit salad. We waited and no-one appeared even though there were still people eating. I went to reception and spoke to a young bloke who was eating his breakfast. He took our order, brought us tea and coffee but produced no cups. When at length a waitress appeared, I asked for a cup, she brought one for me but did not notice that my husband didn't have one either. Toast was not offered after the meal - whether this was oversight or punishment we couldn't tell. Whoever is training the staff at The Regency Hotel is not doing a very good job at the moment in our view. We we not be returning.

comfortable room and good breakfast Poor service eg kitchen closed in evening so no food available - just a fact; no apology Have stayed at The Regency several times, so sad to see it going down-hill. Guests need to know in advance if they have to eat elsewhere

Location fantastic, plenty of parking on the Leas. Excellent value for money, room with plenty of space, light and airy, warm in evening. Hotel needs a little TLC, mainly furnishings and fittings otherwise happy with stay. Staff pleasant. Breakfast enjoyable and hot. good value for money, dining room a bit dark and crockery, table settings, chairs need replenishing. Would stay again an excellent base for visiting family and friends around Kent.

It was comfortable and met my expectations A light from the garden illuminating the exterior of the hotel, shining on my window all night making the room too light. The television kept breaking down.

I stayed at this hotel for one night. The staff were friendly. The room was clean and comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. I had room 29 which has a balcony and a canopy over the bed. The bed was comfortable. This is an old Victorian building and has some beautiful features. I understand it is under new ownership who are starting to re-paint the walls etc. The evening looked very busy with visitors enjoying themselves, but I had made other arrangements for the evening. Would have been happy to stay in the hotel though. It does look a little dark and tired in some areas, but I think this adds to the character. Breakfast was just "ok" and there was some disorganisation at breakfast time with clearing tables and refilling the juice and milk jugs etc. But staff were polite when asked for anything. I would stay here again.

The location to the University. I disliked being asked to pay up front. The room was much smaller than I expected for a superior room. The food in the dining room was really terrible, and the service poor. Then in the morning my daughter and her boyfriend went for breakfast. A member of waiting staff was very rude to them, and again the food was almost unedible. I would never stay there again.

Fairly customer responsive staff. Delighted to be given a better room when requested. Piping hot breakfast is one of the best that I have had. The water pressure in the shower was low.

Clean and comfortable, staff very friendly and curtious. As I was staying for 2 nights, the bar on the first night there was a selsction of lagers no proper beer available apart from Guinness. The second nite John Smiths available. I ordered in the restuarant fish & chips only to be informed that they had run out. Its not a complaint just an observation I may have chosen the 2 days to stay.
