Big room, nice TV, nice bathroom Booked a double room online but was given a twin, with no possibility of change. Waited half an hour for my meal to be served in the restaurant, and the first course to be served was the main course rather than the starter - had to send it back. There was no tea in my room, only coffee. The numbers on the telephone in my room were wrong - dialed 0 for reception, not the 248 suggested on the phone, which didn't work. |

The hotel had a nice Gym/Spa that was definitely the highlight of the stay. Where to start: The room was average, the bed uncomfortable! They dropped our room service after 40 mins of waiting, then we receieved 'new food' within 5 minutes. I'll eat my hat if it wasn't the same food picked off the floor. We were parked on top of a disco that was raging until 12am. All in all a terrible experience |

The foyer was the best bit and the reception staff looked good. The waiting staff in the restaurant at breakfast were polite, eficient and helpful. The staff in the spa were unhelpful and bordering on the rude. Breakfast was disappointing, and the decor appalling. |

It was a nice hotel the staff were very freindly, the room was fine, breakfast was ok. The fire alarm went off at 3-35am,it was a false alarm we were outside for 40 minutes no explanation or apology was given, which dampened an otherwise pleasant stay. |

The public rooms were bright and well furnished. The meal in the restaurant was excellent, especially the desserts. Rooms were clean and well equipped. The spa was above average for a hotel. Although the hotel has clearly been designed to minimize disturbance to other guests from functions, there was some noise from a wedding party well into the early hours even though our room was some distance from the function rooms. |

The hotel had a lovely swimming pool and hotel staff were very friendly The spa treatment that my wife had at the hotel was very disappointing and she felt the need to complain. |

Clean, comfortable, great resttuarant and food nicely presented and served. Lovely pool. Hotel lacked personality though. Needed just just a little something extra to make it really special. |

Staff were all very, very helpful and polite - room was exactly as advertised. Great! We had to evacuate the hotel due to the fire alarm going off but everyone stayed calm and the staff were well organised! Needless to say it was a false alarm! |

On the outskirts of Newbury, overlooked by the historic Donnington Castle, this beautifully renovated 18th-century Gothic house is set in 550 acres of grounds with its own championship golf course. |
