It is in a convenient location for many of the best Lake District attractions. I thought the room was quite cramped and I did not like the style of construction with my bedroom opening directly out onto a public area at the patio and having the carpark and people walking directly outside at the back. The quality of food compared unfavourable with the next door hotel restaurant although similarly priced, and had less vegetarian options |

Food/restaurant excellent, though limited menu. Comfortable bed, good sized room. Decor a bit tired and grubby in places. Mustiness in room from elaborate drapes and cushions? Shower curtain also musty: probably better with a walk-in shower in small bathroom. |

Breakfast was good, location was good, staff were friendly. The room was very small for the price we paid. The common areas smelled strange (my husband said like an old peoples home). Dinner was mediocre for the price. Overall I was disappointed compared with the reviews on your website. |

we liked the decor of the room and the clealiness and house keeping standard, the choice of break fast was excellent. also the location was just right not too far into ambleside where it was busy but not to far where you would have to walk miles. the lake was beautiful as was the village . the only thing really was the prices of the evening meal in the hotel and the bathroom was quite small and the fact you had to walk outside to your accomodation , especially if raining . i would highly recommend this hotel and the suites . |

The food was excellent and the staff polite. The room was clean but smelled of wet dogs. We stayed in a Courtyard room which was extremely noisy, and probably explained the lack of a hairdryer. I found this unacceptable in a hotel of this calibre. The walls were paper thin and we were woken up at 6.15 am by early rising hikers just chatting normally - I could make out every word! The room also smelled of damp dogs. Had I realised it was "dog friendly" I would not have booked this hotel. |

Location nice to be in the village within walking distance of all amenities etc a very nice breakfast with good service. The restaurant seating tables to close / having to walk in the rain to get to room. |

It was relaxed. The staff were always very willing to help but never pushy. The hotel itself is in a pleasant location on the edge of Lake Windermere. There was no draught beer (but there were some good bottled ones)! |

The location is excellent and the room was very comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and the food was also excellent. The room and the decor was excellent. We were in room 25 and when we arrived the heating would not work so we were quite cold. It was mended the next day. The spa bath was useless as the water did not drain away and after having it fixed the bath did not retain the water so it was still useless. The shower was only for washing hair and because it was so fierce it splashed all over and there was no shower curtain. I was not able to have a shower or a bath during my stay. If I recommended this hotel I would advise them to ring and check that everything was working. |

Staff and breakfast were good Not keen on having to walk outdoors from the bedroom to the main part of the hotel - especially as it was raining heavily |

On the friday night we asked reception if we could have a particular table reserved in the restaurant. They said it would not be a problem. When we got there it was only set for one. The manager said its ok it will be ready when we had had a drink. To our disgust somebody had sat there and then we were asked if we would mind sitting somewhere else.Having put up with that, the meal was supposed to be sausages in cider sauce, when it came there was no sauce which was pointed out to the Manager who rudely said it was on when it wasnt. The couple at the table next to us asked him for some more sauce. The Managers attitude was disgusting. |

The staff were super, really friendly and helpful. The owners are also hands on, working on all three evenings that I stayed. The atmosphere was relaxed and I felt very comfortable there. Service at meal times was extremely good with food being served quickly. Would help if wi-fi was available in all rooms - I had to use my laptop in the lounge. Dinner was a wee bit expensive, but very good. A very minor point - there is a two storey annexe and the entrances to all the rooms are external - in itself not a problem, but the upstairs rooms have to go up some stairs which are not covered - so would be concerned if the weather was icy. |

Staff were very attentive and professional. Dinner good though a little pricy, breakfast very good. Whole place seemed well-organised. Room a little small for price......pics show hotel as being on the lake but really its close to the lake, over the road. |

The hotel itself was ok as was the food and location. The double room we had was cramped to say the least which did spoil our stay. Certainly not what you would call luxury. Not too sure if I would recommend this hotel. Would have to think twice before booking it again. |

The room was comfortable and the hotel was ideally placed for Windermere and local ameneties. We enjoyed the swimming pool and breakfast. The restaurant was not closed off from the reception area and so you could not help but listen to the constant telephone calls and reception business which was off putting whilst eating breakfast. |
