The hotel was only 100 yards from where I was attending a course as well as being easy walking distance to shops resturants, buses and trains, castle and other attractions in Edinburgh. |

The hotel was simple, clean and a bed for the night. Nothing fancy and surely worth the price I paid. I suppose it could use some updating, but as it is, it's a good, basic, place to stay. |

For a budget hotel, it is quite well-equipped - they had a miniature ironing board, which was useful. And the bathroom is a decent size. There is also a spare heater which you may well need as it is otherwise rather cold. The main problem for me was noise from other guests - slamming doors, talking loudly in the corridor at 4am in the morning. Sound-proofing is not great. They also ask for payment up front, which is fine, but then charge extra if you want to use a card - which is quite unusual these days. They did agree to wait til the next day for cash, though. |

Individuality, I love the idea that all the rooms are decorated differently; I really liked the interiors, atmosphere and functionality of my room! You get a bit of luxury at really reasonable price. Shower with hot water. Near location to Waverley station. Staff could have been more friendly at the reception when I checked in. I felt I was interrupting their routines, instead of being a welcomed paying guest/customer. Had to ask my receipt separately when I payed with cash, that was odd. |

The staff were very friendly, good level of cleanliness. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, we could feel the springs. Also the timeframe for breakfast was only one hour, between 8 and 9 - an extra 30 minutes would have made mornings a little less pressurised. |

The nearness to the city centre, and the hotel was in a quiet street considering how close it was to a couple of main raods. |

The first room I was given had not been cleaned. The second was better but the shower was not very clean, shower grout was all black. There was stains on the duvet cover and the bed linen was old and faded. |

The staff were pleasant and the continental breakfast was nice. The bathroom facilities were poor (we had a non-suited room). The shower and toilet were very small, old and tatty. |

A lovely, well-decorated room, with good tea/coffee availability The continental breakfast was a little limited - muesli as an option, and fresh croissants would have been good |
