The staff were lovely and breakfast wasn't too bad
Area! Who puts a hotel opposite a rubbish recycling centre? It was based on a huge industrial estate the smell was awful couldn't open windows because of it and we had to wait over an hour for a taxi into town!
I liked the room. The bed was nice and clean.
I didn't like the fact that there is a chemical plant across the street.
Staff friendly Rooms clean
No bar for tea coffee No food served at weekends No lift for disabled people More a workmans hotel
Free breakfast - but only cold and in packets - cereal and pre-packed crepes etc. Some fruit - apples and oranges. Large free car park. Cheap TV in room Helpful staff - for giving directions Helpful staff - moved us when we complained of noise.
Wi-fi not brilliant Sound-proofing at front of hotel didn't work. Very noisy lorries all night. Smells from oil/chemical works over the road. Fire doors had no dampers...therefore banged whenever anyone walked through them. Unlit staircase - dangerous at night Poor breakfast choice, but okay for the price of the hotel room
The smelly cigarette room Dirty towel flies in the room pay on arrival
1.Room was stinking, someone had smoked inside and even towels were stinking of smoke 2.As it was top floor room, probably there was a leakage from the roof, as one of the walls was covered in black mould 3. Hotel is next to the docks, when we opened the windows for some fresh air we got another terrible smell from the docks 4. The price we paid was extremely high for such poor conditions 5. Breakfast consisted of prepacked junk food 6. If you have a choice, never go there
didn't smell very clean. Quite tatty Inside. Fair for price
being at my age I could of done with being on the first floor
flies were everywhere, bathroom fan was broken and makes crazy sound and when I claimed, the staff didn't believe me until engineer told her the same story I'd told her earlier! I couldn't change the room because they didn't have any extra room they couldn't fix the bathroom so we couldn't take a shower!
staff were friendly
Dirty bathroom, couldn't even shower it was so disgusting, the tap on the sink kept popping off the room was full of flies, kept waking up to them crawling all over us carpets were revolting and there was a vile smell For £100 per night I would at least expect cleanliness Won't be staying there again
An interesting location amongst the run down area of Bootle docks Building had been kept in good repair and suited our 1 night stay
location and staff
slamming doors from early morning it was awful and annoying
We thought the staff were brilliant and were very helpful. The bed linen was clean, and the beds comfortable. Given breakfast was included, not bad at all. Free Parking.
Flies kept coming in; could have been the proximity of the port. Glad we had a car as it wouldn't have been easy to travel around with taxis.
Reception staff very friendly, bed was clean.
Ants in the dining room on the tables at breakfast, milk and yoghurts at breakfast were not kept cool, cutrains filthy, floors in bedroom not kept clean, two lightbulbs out of 6 working, TV didnt work properly, communal shower room door did not lock. Bad dirty musty smell on 1st 2 floors, top floor seemed ok.Some shady guys hanging about reception.
Helpful staff, clean cotton bedlinen and towels, excellent continental breakfast with a good variety of food to select from, secure car parking a bonus.
Hotel is situated within an industrial area so won't suit everyone but was ideal for our needs.
If you want just a clean bed and a shower for one or two nights and give as less as possible then this hotel is appropriate. In addition, you will find an enough breakfast interesting for that bad saloon. Consider that this hotel is 4 train station away from the city. You can prefer, if you will do sth in Bootle.
Too many doors showing you that this building is not originally constructed to service like the way they do. Carpets on the stairs should be immediately cleaned and the lobby must be reorganized. The white long papers on the tables of dining room seems terrible. However, anyone can consider the hotel is too cheap to give full comfort in every detail. No big problem for one night.
We aren't satisfied with the hygiene. The rooms were dusty. The lights didn't work, it was dark on the corridors.
Clean towels, sheets. Car park is righ in front of the entrance and it was safe (the reason why I stayed here).
Didn't have light in the room (or I didn't find it), had to use the TV light for this. Luckly it was day light until late and I was going to sleep early. If you need to take the metro, take the one at Bootle Oriel Road, it is almost the same distance but a much safer trip then to walk for the other one (recomended on the website).
When I turned up after midnight there were still a couple of the owners around ready and waiting to book me in. It was also in a great location for me for the next day as I had an early start on the Seatruck ferry the next day. My hotel room was clean and overall was a very good price.
It's a basic hotel but if you're looking for a place to stay on a budget then this place is great. It is located right next to a busy port (which was great for my needs), but a bit out of the way from the town centre.
Location to ferry port
Very tired hotel desperately in need of a refurb.
Hot shower plenty of hot water.
Old style portable tv.
bedding smelt fresh
The location, godawful surrounded by barbed wire not a tree in sight. Only 1 working lightbulb in room, brushed my foot against the "skirting board" during the night and dislodged a 6 inch splinter in to my toe. Toilet shared with at least 6 people and didnt flush. Tiny room, never found any fire escape notices, worst "hotel" we've ever visited, certainly never entertained any idea of partaking of the contintental breakfast -(
great place to stay
The Regent Maritime was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Unless you need emergency accommodation after arriving by ferry or are a contract worker at a chemical plant in the dock, don’t think about staying there. The location is awful with smelly waste tips and industrial factories immediately opposite. At about 5am large lorries start their trips in and out of the dock alongside the hotel road, so if you like to sleep forget it as the noise is quite loud. The area around the hotel is basically industrial waste land and there are no shops or restaurants at your convenience. My bus from Liverpool centre (52A) dropped me off on Stanley road which is about 10 mins walk from the hotel. I felt pretty conspicuous wheeling my bag alongside rows of closed derelict shops and by luck I wasn’t mugged or beaten up by any of the gangs of drunk and wasted teenagers which were congregating on the street. Booking.com advertises the hotel with nice photos, one of which shows a bar and in the description it says, “The cosy bedrooms at Regent Maritime have private bathrooms with free toiletries and hairdryers. Rooms also feature tea/coffee facilities and a TV, and free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout” However, there is no bar as the hotel does not have a licence! There are no free toiletries or hair dryers in the rooms. The Wi-Fi only works on the ground floor and not throughout the hotel and the TV didn’t work! The staff did try and solve some of these problems and I learnt that free toiletries actually means that there is a toilet roll in the bathroom but alas no soap! A hair dryer actually means open the window and let the warm pungent dockside air dry your hair naturally. The fact the bar is closed is solved as they suggest you risk life and limb in Dodge City by walking a mile to the nearest off licence and bringing back some warm cans of beer.
