The Regent Hotel is prominently situated at the head of Oban's north pier and is close to the shopping center. It is also ideal for those who wish to take a steamer cruise or ferry to one of the many islands. The Regent, externally, is a combination of a Victorian private hotel with an almost perfect example of 1930's Art Deco design. Internally both buildings merge to provide an open and airy atmosphere with an array of well positioned public foyers and lounges. As a town center hotel the Regent cannot offer private parking although there is ample on-street parking on the adjacent pier. This 'disadvantage' does however mean that Oban's many shops, the distillery, the ferry terminals and stations are all within easy walking distance. We liked the art deco style of the hotel,the breakfast staff were friendly,but I wouldnt expect them to be any other way.the room was warm Our view was ugly,and old buildings outside our window were being demolished at the time so were were treated to a jcb and workmen outside from 7 in the morning.asked the rather smarmy English desk clerk for a move,was told nothing was available although 10 seafront rooms became available the next morning,we would definately not return to this hotel,very run down.

The sea view, the breakfast and the staff. Luckily we only paid £150 for this room (originally £300) as the whole hotel was pretty shabby and in dire need of a refurb. The staff were lovely and I felt sorry for them having to work in a hotel this shabby. Faulty towers comes to mind!!

Staff were polite, room clean, very clean. comfy. Great view over water. Had dinner in hotel was lovely, very good, great value. Breakfast good. no where to park car. shower hard to use. hotel badly in need of upgrade, room had damp in bathroom and bedroom ceiling. Rooms need painted and windows need looked at, flaky paint.

Sorry to say there isn't anything I would say I like about hotel or staff. We didn't like the full experience,rooms and bedding wernt clean,staff were unhelpful,breakfast ,well my dog get better food

I saw a few dodgy reviews but proceeded with the booking due to it being only £50 for a twin room. I have to say that after I got our room changed when the window wouldnt properly close with a gale howling outside, the value for money factor was excellent. Yes the hotel decor and fittings are very tired and it needs a millionaire to come along and refurbish it from top to bottom, but we had a peaceful nights sleep, comfortable beds, a harbour view, and a pretty good breakfast. Would stay here again.

Room was a good size and clean. The view over the harbour was marvelous, breakfast was good and service was excellent. Music each night in the lobby- all reminds you of old fashioned hotel, just some areas needs updating (for example the bathroom had some mold coming though). But in general it was great.

Very pleasant and helpfull staff. Nice breakfast. If you are ready to have a small room but with the marvelous view! For very reasonable price - this hotel if for you. But if for you big room is more important - find another place.

nice staff Dated, dilapidated and needs a total refurbishment. Staff nice but processes dated and caters for cheap groups not independent travellers. However staff really do try to be welcoming and not their fault that rooms/ main areas so in need of an overhaul

Location and vies from the dining area It was generally grubby, the room was damp with mold and wallpaper peeling off, close to the window was some kind of fan / pump which switched off an on throughout the night. In all - a very unpleasant stay

Very polite, courteous staff. Trying to spruce up single room, but hotel needs a proper renovation, inside and out. Doing the hotel in stages is not fair on guests who get older rooms.

We were allowed to check in early which is a great thing when hauling around luggage on a bus trip. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was tremendous. Very good. The rooms are comfortable. Would stay there again when visiting Oban which is a lovely seaside town. Great value for your money. Nothing really. Very nice hotel with very nice and friendly staff.

Location. And awesome views from our room which was also really spacious. Seriously dated. But if you are lucky enough to be given a room with a sea view this balances things out. Some would even argue that it was expensive for what it offered. Especially those without the sea view rooms. It was clean in my opinion apart from those areas that need to be brought down and rebuilt from the very basis (like the carpets, the walls etc). No parking space.
