Great location and great breakfast

the location.

my bed was not change during my whole stay. and I did not get fresh towels either. the hotel is very noisy.

located close to picadilly station and to market street (shopping). the guy who served us breakfast was very friendly giving us very good tips of where to go and what was going on in manchester.

good nightlife close by

great value for money, amazing location, imformative and friendly staff, loved the side access, would definately stay again!!!

although it was clean and tidy, the stair case, walls and carpets could do with updating, but all in all, i was more than happy

The room was nice just wasnt finished propley and could have done with a polish breakfast the tomato's was moldy but service was lovely

Excellent location if you're going clubbing around Canal Street, good room, good breakfast. Perhaps the Bookings.com website should warn you that not suitable on Friday nights if you're not going clubbing - the rooms are directly above a cabaret show.

Pretty lousy room , cause below a night club, can´t sleep tillafter 2 am when party was over

The cheapness and location to everything we needed was good.

The room was slightly smaller than expected but not bad, the only thing is it had a slight smell to the room, like damp but different. The nearest car park to stay over night was £18. That was a huge shock.

The noise: above a bar

The location is second to none, however the actual hotel is in need of some TLC it's very threadbare to say the least .

Convienient to city centre. Good plentiful breakfast. Despite arriving at 10am we were allowed access to our room.

Room description is misleading. We had a superior room but had only a wash basin and no shower. Public areas were dirty, including the shared shower room. As male and female couple we were refused entry to the bar. We were told it was for a private party. In truth we could see three men in the bar through the window and we were excluded as we were not a gay couple. Sexual discrimination, something gay people have been fighting for years!

Anything else… It was a horrible experience. There is NO toilet in our room. It is not possible to take shower, too. Noisy enough to keep you awake all night. No good at all

Cheap and very central. Nice staff. Full breakfast. The guy who made the breakfast even got up to make us breakfast an hour earlier than normal because we had to leave early every morning. Thumbs up!!

Be very careful not to lock yourself out if you go to the hallway bathroom in the night, there is no reception and the bar closes early...

The breakfast was very good.

after booking in we went out for a drink at other venues.We then tried to re enter the venue only to be told sorry this is a male only bar.But after showing the door staff our room key and him talking to the staff we were allowed to enter and buy a drink.

Lovely manager, tatty but clean

It's undeniably in as central a location in Manchester as is possible. In particular I booked it as it's five minutes from Piccadilly station. Included breakfast was very good and made the price more bearable.

It's not so much what I didn't like but what's missing from the description. REM is a gay hotel over a gay bar (I'm heterosexual and so's my girlfriend). I knew this from living in Manchester for several years and don't mind, but it may bother some people. There was a huge photo of a naked man over our bed for instance, and there is a shower cubicle in the corner of the bedroom, which is unusual. The hotel is a little seedy and a little grubby but served its purpose, which was an overnight stop on the way home from the airport. Tangible things I didn't like: there is a squealing fan right outside the bedroom window which disturbed my sleep; the water in the rooms is pumped, and the pump makes a noise like a macerator when anyone uses water in the rooms, which also woke me during the night.

It was allright for somwere to crash after a night out it was clean but wouldnt want to stay more than one night
