Situated on Weymouth’s Esplanade, the family-run Hotel Rex is in an enviable position by the beach. The Channel Islands ferry terminal and the Pavilion Theatre are both only 2 minutes’ walk away.
Score from 478 reviews Very good
A short walk from the town bridge over the historic Weymouth Harbour, this traditional hotel provides comfortable accommodations, a restaurant and bar, and easy access to the beach, a 10-minute walk...

Overlooking Weymouth beach and the Jurassic coastline, The Fairhaven Hotel is situated on The Esplanade, allowing easy access to the beach and historic 17th-century harbour.
Score from 697 reviews Good
Plenty of car parking (with good size overflow car park to the rear if needed); nice clean, comfortable, airy rooms and good breakfast selection which was regularly topped up. Good indoor pool, gym & spa facilities and only a few minutes' walk to the beach and promenade.
The stairs (I had an injured knee Long wait between courses in restaurant.
Friendly and polite staff.
Not really bad just that on the floor we were staying the windows were very dirty. Although the room was clean a look behind the radiator told a different story. Dust and cobwebs. Also the bath panel was hanging off.
Excellent menus and delicious food. Great staff.
Only diet drink in bar was pepsi. Please more varieties -orange lemonade etc
Good all round job by all friendly helpful staff,
Bed uncomfortable. I didn't spend much time in the hotel so i would find somewhere cheaper next time as i didn't have time to use the great facilities!
Loved the location! Enjoyed the breakfast but spent little time in the hotel.
Pillows a little hard
Initial room allocation room was very noisy from fans ...changed room ....bed very squeaky and mattress uncomfortable. ..
Very good leisure facilities, particularly the generous sized pool and spa. Excellent dining facilities and super meals.
The doors closing were noisy they could do with slow closing arms if this was addressed the chain would secure more premier inn guests
Parking, food, lounge areas
uncomfortable bed springs were they shouldnt be ,woke with backache
very friendly bar staff made us fill relaxed an help with directions to town an italian even got the informationon the net
Heat the hotel is very hot the heating is on full blast and you can't turn the radiators down. The restaurant was also very hot and they didn't have the air conditioning on. Was very uncomfortable to eat especially at breakfast
We had problems with our TV and it was sorted out with now hassel
Pleasant room and a good size Would not hesitate to stay here again
The walls are not well noise isolated. We were lucky to have quiet guests but you can hear noises. Also, the hotel is pricey compared to similar establishments.
We chose this hotel for having generous parking (no need to pre-book) and for being ideally located for people traveling to London or south-east. The hotel is just outside the city center on the road to Dorchester. The rooms are nicely furnished, in a very traditional British style. Definitely a hotel with personality. Members of staff are very nice and kind. The waiting time in the Gallery Restaurant is a little bit too much tough but the food is great. This is one of the best places for roast dinner.
Breakfast was a bit cold when we went down, didn't look fresh. A shame the sauna room wasn't open as we wanted to use.
The bar was open late which was good, Lesuire facilities were warm.
Being able to eat in the hitel... the food was very good
on the first morning we had to leave the hotel at 6.10am and reception advised continental would be available at 5.30am . fruit and juices available but no milk for tea or cereals
excellent breakfast and dinner
Staff very friendly Great location with onsite parking Good facilities
We were a cpl with an 18 y/o daughter. our room was a long way from front car park. One bed lumpy (old mattress). Bed 2 was like something from 50 years ago. It looked ready to collapse and sagged badly. Bed 3 a trundle with very old smelly mattress. Shower over bath ( I am unsteady on my feet) had terrible water pressure and the toilet seat would not stay up. Had to sit to urinate.Old and in need of massive updating. WiFi poor. Long way from shorefront.
Staff were very friendly.
Breakfast wasn't great
Was alright all in all bar how hot it was but after reporting it we had our bill amended
We arrived at the hotel at 7.30pm 4 Jan. room felt cold as soon as we walked in, realised no heating on and both windows open. We felt that the room was shabby and in need of decorating, marks on the walls, grubby carpet, chair sagging and generally not very well cleaned. Bathroom not very well cleaned either, hair in the bath, toilet seat stained. A 1 1/2inch flush button that sticks out on the front of toilet doesn't allow the toilet seat to stay up. The waitress on breakfast duty asked as soon as we were seated would we like tea and toast which we said yes to,10 mins later and half way through breakfast I asked could we have our tea. Tea arrived, but no toast., thinking she would be back with the toast, after 5mins toast hadn't arrived so I said I didn't want toast now but my husband said he still wanted toast. There was obviously some confusion as she thought we both said no to toast. Last time we stayed we were satisfied with our stay.
The location of hotel is excellent especially with having parking facilities. Reception staff very nice and helpful. Good breakfast in the restaurant.
Very basic room Extremely uncomfortable bed Restaurant staff had very little spoken English
Convenient location Quiet room
Not long enough at the hotel !!
The reception staff, in particular Christina Ray who went out of her way on New Years Eve to locate a nearby eatery so we could get food. Beyond the call of duty.
The cleanliness could have been better bed side cabinets had sticky cup rings caperts were marked in areas and the bathroom bath seals were stained and worn bath room door handle was also loose just as well I carry a multi tool in my pocket
The staff were pleasant welcoming and very polite
The bed in room was very noisy. Every move made the bed creek loudly and woke my wife and myself up every time. At 3am I was trying to repair it. We ended up with very little sleep. The morning receptionist had no interest other than charging us for the two Pepsi we had had the evening before. Will be giving the best western a miss and will advise my friends and colleagues to do the same. What a shame as the receptionist could of saved the day.
Breakfast very good, far better than many hotels, evening an night staff very friendly and helpful.
