This booking was a disaster from start to finish. I booked 6 rooms and only recieved 4. I had the booking confirmation with me but to no avail we were told there we no rooms left. Which was a blatant lie as one of the rooms we eventually got had problems with the heating, and they were offered another room. The assistant manager who checked us in is definately in the wrong job as her customer service skills were appalling. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone else!!!!!!!

The location was amazing and the view was breathtaking.

The hotel itself and the nightclub attached are up for sale. The building is in need of renovation. The heating was on full blast with no controls to turn it down and no fan was supplied, which made it too hot and not really suitable for my baby. The shower was rubbish. You had to run the water for 5 mins before it was hot and it took me ages to set the shower to a decent temperature and there was no power in it. Despite there only being a handful of cars on the car park, and we were staying for 3 nights, we were refused permission for a visiting family member to use a space for an hour. We were expected to move our luggage to just behind the front desk after checkout as there was a conference in progress using the storage room. The receptionist didn't even get up off her chair to move it! I phoned down to reception to ask about a luggage store and she didn't even answer the phone, yet when we arrived at the desk she was just sat there doing rotas and ignoring the phone! Despite the lift supposedly holding 4 people, we were told to go one at a time when carrying luggage because it was tempramental. Apart from that one lady on reception, everyone else was great, including the other reception staff, who were extremely attentive, friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

Breakfast, reasonable rates, room sizes, helpful staff.

Deposit for TV remote (returnable, but silly!), and if they spent just a little more on some areas (lifts, corridors, signage), could be a very good hotel.

Very friendly helpful staff, great breakfast, good quality comfortable rooms, handy parking right outside. We enjoyed our short stay very much and will probably return at a later date.

I stay at the the Rex on a regular basis to visit my family who live locally. Always a warm welcome when we arrive, and always in our favourite room.

The location

The lady on the desk had a nasty manner. Hotel & room dirty,cold & rundown. Couldn't see the beautiful view as the windows were so dirty. Noise from night club down stairs till 3am & not told about it.Fire alarms went off twice in the middle of the night with no explanation.Not able to get internet anywhere in building & was told I would.

Excellent, helpful staff. First class breakfast.

It is very noisy Thursday to Sunday due to disco's and local pubs

Position - right on seafront. Price - excellent value for money, no frills but clean and comfortable with friendly staff.

Noise from the nightclub - although this was only for one night. Room didn't have heating, but staff very helpful and gave us an electric fan heater which was fine -probably wouldn't be a problem in summer.

The location and size of the bedroom and that they were pet friendly.

The niteclub on the ground floor that went on until 3-00am Friday Saturday & Sunday! We were on the 3rd floor and it kept us awake. We had read nothing about this before we went.

the hotel was filthy light bulbs fused in room damp all over ceiling and just generally dirty hotel and would not stop here again

Poor quality breakfast, chef forgot some items on plate and the black pudding had not been cooked, very poor show

Breakfast ok. Beds very comfortable. Pillows new and clean. The manageress was eager to help but we now know not to stay there unless we want the night club and no showers.

The noise until 3am as this is a hotel for those who like the night club and when booking I didn't see the information. Lots of dust, cold showers, we moved rooms due to the noise, although the noise was not any different and the bath water was red hot so you could bathe even though the shower was cold. The hotel is ready for some attention to tiles in bathrooms and re cleaning. Towels clean but not really big enough.

I've read some rather negative reports about this hotel. I felt the place was better than what I expected based on those reports. In the close proximity of that hotel, there were several smaller B&B places that advertise themselves with prices around 20 GBP, but I didn't see them on the net. You might want to check on those too.

Breakfast starts only at 7 am.

The breakfast. Hotel had a lot of character. Nice sea view.

The noise from the Deep nightclub on the ground floor. Radiator in the room wasn't working. Extractor fan in the bathroom was excessively noisy. Shower was cold.
