Comfort and cleanliness.
Nothing to dislike
breakfast was until 930am went down at 925 as liked a bit of a lie in but there was only enough left for my wife and I had to settle with cereal.
Staff were extremely friendly, the room was very clean and nice also, breakfast was excellent as was the location.
Couldn't get additional pillows for the night
Food pricey for what it was WiFi did not work
Good clean and friendly hotel. Well located with easy assess into Liverpool.
Nothing I did not like
great location lovely setting nice surroundings rooms ok
noisy trains late at night early in morning bar area devoid of any feelgood atmosphere makes you want to go out straight away breakfast buffet not fresh should be served breakfast in small hotel
Good quality hotel. Excellent value for money. Room spacious, clean and comfortable.
Ground floor room with cars parked directly outside the window, so no privacy. Woken very early by vehicles being started.
Rooms were quite large and well equiped, tv, alarm/radio, hair dryer, desk and chair. I had asked for a blanket and sheet not a duvet and that was ready on my arrival. I never heard the wedding reception which was going on over the first night, so sound penetration was low, thank goodness. The staff were helpful if a bit disorganised.
That no inventory had been done lately, the TV did not work in first room and the secnd room was missing the hair dryer so I saw more of the hotel than some. I don;t like showers over baths but then that seems normal these days. The menu had "off items" on it, although the food was of quite adequate quality.
Beds comfortable bathroom good tv all bedroom electric goods excellent ie tea making all excellent and clean bedroom
The hotel is suitably located for my Irlam visit, but it feels a little tired. Staff were helpful enough and the buffet breakfast was nice enough.
The location is a little away from anything else of note. I can see it being suitable for functions however.
We read the reviews after we booked the Hotel and where a bit disappointed. However. The staff where faultless and could not do enough, The room was adequate for an over night stay, The nearby train line was no where near as bad as the review we read, We had a lovely time in the restaurant although it was lacking in atmosphere probably due to the lack of customers, I feel the Hotel has such a lot to offer and just feels a bit unloved....!!!
Overall cleanliness was disappointing. It could probably do with a deep clean once a week ? Carpets where stained and worn, If you checked the 4 corners of a room you would probably find dust and grime. The outside of the Hotel is lacking in a facelift, eg plant pots with dead flowers etc in. I do feel this Hotel has so much more to offer ... I would stay there again to see any improvement.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, well signposted.
Shower very poor, no pressure. Electrical equipment in room had not been pat tested for at least 4-5 years and when using the hair dryer it nearly caught fire! Room was not cleaned on second day and night staff attempted to clean at midnight. Standard of breakfast was poor, had to ask for everything and then wait. No black pudding on last morning. Had no Sauvignon Blanc and ran out of lemonade as a mixer.
Asked for quiet room, railway 20 yards from window. Did not want a full evening meal but was told no bar snacks available
Nothing, except seeing it in my rear view mirror!!
Weekend trip with my young son to watchLiverpool play Dortmund and booked this hotel as stopover. Big mistake. No one at reception on arrival, had to tolerate drunks from a wedding party for almost 15 minutes whilst waiting to check in. Given a room that was so close to the line it sounded as if we were about to be struck by a train. We didn't like the cobwebs that stuck to my face as I entered the en-suite, dead spider in the wardrobe, filthy valance covers on our beds, dead fly in the cup on the complementary tray, 2 greasy cups and dirty spoons on same tray. Tried to get cups replaced with clean crockery but staff continued to replace cups and spoons with ones that were either greasy or still had tea/coffee stains in them. Disgusting. After visiting the kitchen to oversee the replacement crockery we refused to eat on the premises. Drove 20 mins down the motorway to a popular fast food chicken restaurant for eve meal. Although included in the price we had b'fast at a popular burger bar, again down the motorway. Our worst hotel stay ever. They do not deserve a 3 star rating. What was the AA thinking???
Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.
Bathroom was not clean, generally grubby with marks on walls and doors and around sink area. Walls were paper thin meaning that when the guests in the bedroom next door came in at 3am and decided to have a 50 minute conversation we heard every word! Bar area very basic and outside seating shabby with benches falling apart.
Pleasant and helpful staff nothing too much trouble. Pleasant and well kept surroundings. Food although typical of pub grub was well cooked and reasonably priced.
Dining room not open in evening - having to eat in bar/lounge with TV's on walls on all the time. This is a Hotel which caters mainly for business people.
Didn't like anything about the hotel
Only one woman at the reception and the same woman trying look after the bar were the beer was awful wife had a coke witch was flat
Mainly mature staff trying their very best.
Understaffed. Grossly overextended hotel our room was so close to the railway you could virtually touch it! Yes, trains rumble past every hour or so two or three at a time and as well as noise physically shake the building. The carpet in room 26 was filthy even a quarter biscuit lay on the floor near the bed! The room was set up for one person or it was penny pinching one towel set, one packet of biscuits you get the picture. The blurb on bookings.com is not accurate. This hotel is pretending to be something it definitely is not! The breakfast buffet was poor, minimal and the tables were not cleared, no direction as to how it worked etc. one poor mature lady on her own trying to do it all. We would never revisit this place.
Good location for Northbank Industrial Estate for business. Black Swan pub is within walking distance.
I asked for a quiet room, but got put in a ground floor room, (no.1), at the front of the building, right next to entrance and reception, so had people stood outside, smoking at night. Smoke came into room through windows. Why not put me in a second floor room at back of hotel - there were rooms available. Breakfast room is too big and very bare/cold looking. Breakfast was ok, but you had to ask for fried eggs, rather than be asked. Bar area is not cosey or inviting to sit in at all.
Motorway services-type cafe.
Nice and friendly staff. Basic facilities but good value for money.
Internet was slow from my room.
The room was lovely.
Location, staff and facilities were very good and the night porter was very accommodating with our late night requests. Overall a very pleasant stay thank you all.
As a fire service sports and social club our account does not come with a bank card. Found it strange that the lady behind reception told me know one ever pays by cheque and the establishment would not except one from our organisation so had to frantically find the money between us to pay the bill. Perhaps our bank isn't aware of this as I have just received a new cheque book from them this morning, will ring them later to let them know the receptionists view. Honestly though, all in all a great place to stay with modern, comfortable rooms in a lovely surroundings x
