Score from 1560 reviews Very good
friendly staff, free wifi that was quick
Basic but clean & comfortable: carpets & mature furnishings that did NOT smell fusty. Clever floor lighting allows nocturnal loo visits to be safe but not dazzling. Paddington station and Hyde Park each just a short walk away.
No lift and narrow stairs made my 4th floor room a struggle to reach with luggage. However, I was offered help.
Location is very convenient for public transportation, and it isn't too far away from the center to walk there by foot. The staff were very helpful, the rooms clean, the included (continental) breakfast not too varied, but decent. Bathroom equipment is new, the rooms are clean.
Steep stairs, no elevator (I asked to be transferred to a first floor room, and it happened the next day - kudos to the staff). The rooms are a bit shabby.
Wonderful staff, nothing too much trouble and very knowledgeable about public transport etc. Lovely room, we had a triple on the ground floor of the annexe as my sister has asthma and can't climb a lot of stairs. Continental breakfast had a good selection and as much as you wanted- hot toast offered freely too. The small fridge in the room was great for fresh milk, water and wine ! Good area for restaurants of every type and several Open All Hours shops too. Only five minutes from Paddington tube which has good connections. Very quiet area- we had expected it to be noisy as so central but we hardly heard a car all night.
Very spacious rooms with massive bath and sinks. Extremely clean rooms, hot water, central heating, very comfortable beds and clean all over. Breakfast is amazing with a selection of toast, croissants, jam and butter, cold meats, cheese, milk and coffee that is freshly milled and brewed, Nutella as well and peanut butter and cereals. Everything you would imagine!. Very quite place as well. Amazing!!!!
I like the hotel cleaning .
I didn't like the shower room and toltil because for me it small sorry about this.
Clean but small room in good location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good althiugh not so large - coffee/tea and toast served by the table, cheese, ham, some fresh fruits and yoghurt.
We heard our room neighbours quite well and the stairs were narrow up to our room. We didn't suffer from it, but it can be good to know for others.
Price, substantial continental breakfast, very comfortable beds
Every sound from the surrounding rooks could be heard. We were lucky that the travellers either side didn't talk for too long into the night. Have a bit of a walk round the corner to a different building for breaksfast
The room was always clean, the staff we're helpful and nice
The double room is really small
I booked a single room. Although too small but it is convenient to go anywhere. Lancaster station, Paddington station is very near. Wifi is good. Hotel staff also are friendly. Good!
To be honest i was really surprised with the quality of the room and very friendly staff.
Nice hotel, with excellent service, close to Paddington/Bayswater. Fast Wi-Fi. Very clean!
Breakfast Free wi fi
The Hotel was divided over 2 sites? A 2-3 minute walk..
3rd floor no elevator. old facility
Our room is at the top floor with very long and narrow stairs
The staff were pleasant and the room was comfortable despite being quite 'compact'. The en-suite shower and toilet were modern and clean. Breakfast was okay as a continental option. Affordable and convenient for the location.
If there was one concern it was that the lock on the door seemed quite basic and there was no way to secure the door from the inside. Things felt safe enough but still it was a thought that came up more than once.
Wi-Fi free, comfortable beds, clean room and bathroom, lovely leafy location, near park and underground, safe area, quite, kettle and tea/coffee stuff with fresh milk, very welcome, receptionist first evening gave valuable help/advice without asking for it, a nice touch!!! Would stay again
Excellent value for central London, conveniently located near 3 tube stations and Hyde Park. Breakfast and Wifi included, good shower, reasonably comfy beds, we had a quad room between 3 of us and there was plenty of space. I think the best way to describe the hotel is "shabby chic", it's a bit dated, but clean and has lots of character. The staff seemed pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. It's not very glamorous, but it really does the job for a stay in London!
If you want a quiet night, you might need to be specify this, as our room was on the road side and near the restaurant where breakfast was served, so there was quite a bit of hustle and bustle. This wasn't really an issue for us, as we were here for leisure and don't mind a bit of noise, but people who like quiet and need to get up early for work/business might want to look elsewhere.
no carpets in the room.
occaionally no water available in the room - it was sometimes basically impossible to take a shower.
Bath room is small
Really helpful staff here. The receptionist even left me a breakfast to take away as I'd told him I was leaving too early for breakfast.
really close to Hyde Park, and a really nice staff. it was easy to find a restaurant for the dinner, in only 2 minutes you have the choice between a dozen restaurants. The room was really pleasant.
for my girlfriend whose knee was hurting,to get to the third floor by the stairs was really painful, a lift could be a good idea ?
Room was small but comfortable, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Location reasonable close to a number of train stations.
After leaving the hotel I got an email stating they'd withdrawn 120 bpd for a missing information book. After several emails I did get my money back but customer service over the issue was poor.
Clean, reasonable sized rooms, comfortably furnished. Excellent helpful staff and the owner Chris is on hand to make sure everything is OK. A few minutes from Paddington Station and underground and 5 minutes to the Central Line at Lancaster Gate. Breakfast was simple but fine. Quiet location. Many of the reviews have commented on the room size, but having staying in some miniscule, overpriced rooms in London, the rooms at the Rhodes are a reasonable size by London standards.
we were in a separate building to the breakfast building, in a basement room which was a bit cramped with a very small bathroom, but spacious shower cabin
