This former 18th-century farmhouse is set in Constable Burton, at the gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. It offers 2 pub bars with log fires and a restaurant using local and home-grown produce....

The White Swan is now Middlham's finest hotel, in a prominent position overlooking the market square.
Score from 75 reviews Good
Situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the award-winning Blue Lion offers a candlelit restaurant, a garden and free parking. It features open fires and flagstone floors.

Lovely Area, the food was very good.
The smell of urine on the first landing as you go past the toilets. The excessive noise made by staff clearing away at night and setting up on a morning.
great food, good beer and very helpful staff. Great location to explore the area from.
We had the room immediately above the bar so there was some noise but it is a pub so should be expected. We could have asked about the rooms at time of booking and the pub does not have a late license so no big deal.
A real pub full of local characters. Early morning starts, so a packed lunch was supplied instead of breakfast.
Breakfast exceptional Clean bedding Complimentary water I saw a white misty shape in the night in our room.
No net curtain in toilet, so always had to pull blind down when on the loo.
Lovely position on the market square.
Our room was above the bar and was disturbingly noisy well into the early hours. Had we known this we would not have considered staying here.
large,very comfy room
A bit noisy on first night due to a birthday party in the pub, not an issue, the perils of staying in pubs
Staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. They all seemed to be enjoying their job. Our son, 9, loved the theming of the RExcellent beer and fooichard III room.
Room rather cluttered with non-functional furniture.
The village is spot on ,pub was very busy on a sunday, sunday evening was also very busy ,,very good food and drink,Rooms are tidy and clean,,Staff are all very helpful,,,,Meals are excellent most are handmade
Lovely location Bed wide and comfortable Food good
Pub rather than a hotel. Main entrance was initially blocked with young smokers. Friday night was music night - according to the information in the room - to finish at 11am -unfortunately our room was directly above the bar - where loud music played until 12.30am - followed by a 'private party/lock in' no music but loud chatting, laughing, ordering drinks, doors slamming etc - husband had to go downstairs at 2am as could hear every word and therefore no sleep possible - firmly asked the young people to be quiet - which they did about 15 mins later. Unfortunately lack of sleep and resulting tiredness spoilt our following day, touring Middleham castle & the Dales. If we'd known we could gave easily visited on an alternative day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at the Richard 111 and wish it could have been longer. It was wonderful to sit outside watching the comings and goings in the old marketplace whilst sipping a glass of wine. Middlaham has an atmosphere all its own - tranquil, friendly and the bonus of seeing beautiful race horses passing by. The hotel is warm and welcoming, our room was clean and comfortable and the public rooms have lots of interesting quirks. We stayed on a Tuesday and sampled the steak deal. It was delicious and generous, as was the freshly cooked to order breakfast. I would recommend this hotel highly. Don't forget to visit the nearby castle and church
There was nothing we did not like
Great staff and food.......
Poor room no view and small? £80 for it !!
Room was lovely, we'll decorated and clean. Sadly it looked straight into a window opposite (looked like a restaurant) so had to keep curtains closed as no blinds or net. Excellent food and breakfast. Good location for days out, pretty village.
Very noisy at night time. Our room (4) overlooked an alley with tables and chairs below the window, these were filled with youngsters laughing, swearing and generally very loud till gone 10pm. On the first evening there was a fight and someone being thrown out !!! All the doors in this lovely old building need soft closures fitting as they bang all day and all night, particularly in the front dining room, where the gents toilet is also located, the door banged throughout dinner both nights we ate there. There were a lot of youngsters in the bar swearing loudly, this appears to go unchallenged, not good when you have little ones.
Friendly staff Great home cooked food - reasonably priced and nicely presented Clean and well appointed double bedroom.
The shower could have been better - it was a shower hose coming out of the bath mixer taps, so not much pressure from the shower, but it did the job.
Really loved my night there, food wonderful, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. cannot wait to return.
Food was excellent and homemade.
Excellent four poster bed but only marginally smaller than the room.
Rather disorganised at breakfast and surrounded by cleaners, delivery men and dogs.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Bathroom needed refurbishment. Mold and damp on the walls.
Friendly welcoming staff. Great atmosphere. Comfortable room with views to watch the racehorses go by. Great breakfast, freshly cooked and tastier than most five star hotel breakfasts.
Just what we hoped for. Lovely location, comfortable room, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere, and great value for money.
Couldn't connect to the wifi, but you don't visit the Dales to spend your time surfing the net!
The staff, the food and the general ambience. A terrific breakfast!
For some reason the management have written all sorts of notices and homilies on the inside walls which just looks like scruffy graffiti; a shame as the rooms are nice enough anyway with some interesting pictures hanging up.
What was not to like as it was Comfortable, friendly, clean, well decorated, excellent menu, good food, comfy bed, clean bathroom and all that you needed for your stay including whitest towels I have seen for a long time. Good value food and excellent breakfast choices. Would definitely stay again.
I had a room where I couldn't see the racehorses going up to the gallops and that would have been the icing on the cake for me.
unspoilt village pub setting hotel. Food & drinks very good. Huge bed in room.
Ensuite was poor....just a box like structure made in the room as an afterthought, noisy maserator toilet as not on main drainage. No privacy at all for your other half i'm afraid!
The staff were excellent - they couldn't do enough for us and were friendly and efficient. The food was homecooked to order and was absolutely delicious! Everything provided in the rooms was excellent - from the 'usual' tea and coffee making facilities, shower gels etc, to an iron and table ironing board. Room was well decorated, characterful, attractive and comfortable. A lovely weekend stay. Choose a room at the back - quieter, as the front rooms face the town square.
Some doors banged if care wasn't taken to close them considerately.
