Riders Country House  

My initial impression was the Hotel is very tired and in need of a refurbishment. Staff were friendly, not very professional eating food behind the bar. Talking about family issues and going for blatant smoking breaks . Although I didn't have Breakfast the I did see a member of staff chewing when going around the restaurant . The bedroom had a very pungent air freshener. Furniture tired. Public areas all in need of facelift. Stair carpet poor and some stairs uneven and in need of repair. We did have Dinner which was okay, though the Chairs in the bar area uncomfortable for eating. On the whole very disappointing. I would not return or recommend the Hotel. Badly in need of a visit from the Hotel inspector.

I think I have summed it up above . a quick de-clutter and a once over with the paint brush would go along way. Staff to be given basic training on what should be done front and back of house! Watch Downton this will help you!

Well furnished, very spacious room. Very good quality of the food at both dinner and breakfast. Friendly, personal service. Comfortable bed. Very quiet room.

Having a room at the rear of the hotel it was lovely and quiet. We were able to come and go with no fuss.

It would have been better if the breakfast was served on hot plates as it went cold very quickly. One of our party was served an almost cold pot of tea.We felt that we were a bit of an inconvenience when we asked for slight variations on the breakfast ie just to leave off the sausage! Please ask the staff to smile it costs nothing.
