Kira the proprietress was exceptionally welcoming and nice -- greeting me upon arrival, chatting a bit by the coal-fueled fireplace blazing, and providing a fine breakfast in a homey environment. Thank you!

Wow! What a find! Kind, generous hosts in a gorgeous property. Lovely bedroom with everything you could need and we really enjoyed using the cosy 'VIP lounge' where we enjoyed a bottle of wine watching TV in front of the modern fireplace. Such a lovely and unexpected addition to our stay!
Breakfast was perfection- great choice, local produce and beautifully cooked and presented.
Hosts couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming giving great advice on places to go.

I liked that the area and facilities were quiet and that it provided breakfast and snacks which really helped! The owner had great knowledge of tourist attractions and restaurants nearby.

Proprietor was super-friendly. Room was modern and spotlessly clean but also comfortable and quiet. We ate both dinner and breakfast at The Artisan restaurant downstairs in same building as our room. Absolutely delicious modern take on both Irish and eclectic dishes. Great bakery across the street. Easy street parking.

Beautiful old hotel in a stunning location. The food in the restaurant was honestly INCREDIBLE (I had the scallop and prawn risotto). Staff were all super friendly. Room was lovely and clean with a fantastic view. I will definitely be staying again

An absolute gorgeous setting of the harbour and beautiful beaches nearby. We ate in Aldos, such tasty food and friendly staff. Easy to get around in a car as close to Downpatrick and Newcastle. Quite hilly if you are on foot.

Hard to answer this question, we've been before, always as day visits, always using our own boat. This trip we were on a geocaching mission, the overnight stay made that so much easier. We found the buses good, on both occasions we used them. Such shops as we used were good for us, but on short bounces our needs are simple. For those who wish to walk the coast paths are interesting, scenic but rough in places. Walking on the roads is not particularly pleasant as they are narrow and the traffic can be fast. For those coming by their own boats the harbour and marina are excellent.

A scruffy historic village with an old harbour and broken down castles. A very good pub up the hill and a not so good one in the Main Street. A chip shop that closed at 8.30pm bemused me - surely that’s when folks want fish and chips! Another one that stayed open and made more money. An unusual tackle shop that sold various other odd things.
All in all a strange little village but characterful in its own right.

Loved the harbour and seeing the fishing boats.
Loved the harbour and seeing the fishing boats. Sorry to learn they don’t get out to fish often. The shops etc are nice too. Walking helps to appreciate the area. We called into the Down Museum in Downpatrick on our way back and learned some details about the area.
