The room was very nice and spacious. The staff were very eager to help and dealt with me in a friendly and generous manner. The room was a bit warm, even after I turned the radiator off and opened the window. While it seems to sell itself as a high class hotel, some aspects let it down, such as the plastic cups in the bathroom and less than impressive eggs at breakfast. I also wouln't recommend double occupancy in a room with a double bed, even a suite as I had, unless you like to snuggle.

Ringwood Hall Hotel looks lovely and the rooms spacious and well decorated, but unfortunately we were very disappointed with our stay there. We phoned the hotel a week before to confirm our booking and that we would have a Dachshund dog with us, they told us that they did not know we were arriving with a dog and would have to move us to a different room. When we arrived at the hotel we were asked if we had been told there was a function on that night and our room was very close to the function. We also discovered when we opened a window to get some fresh air in that we were by the smoking area (so we closed the window). Later that evening with shouting, laughing and loud music coming from the function, we phoned to ask what time the function would finish, the person on the phone in reception was surprised we had been put in a room so close when not part of the group attending the function, he informed us that the party would finish at 1am. All we wanted was a relaxing stay in the hotel after travelling down from our holiday in Scotland, if we had known we were going to be allocated a room very near a wedding reception, we would have definitely booked somewhere else. When we checked out the next day we were informed that they had known that we were arriving with a dog as it was on the original booking form and that there were rooms in the gatehouse, where dogs are allowed, which were further away from the function and would been much better for us.

swimming pool, room and surroundings were really up to a good standard. Shame I was on business as I would have liked to have spent more time there. food at restaurant and bar felt like aeroplane food, pre-prepared and not fresh. Also why serve food in baskets and pots when I would rather eat off a plate - it may have been okay for cavemen but times have changed. Why was the beer almost £4/pt?

This Hotel is very good. Facilities are excellent Other residents slamming their room doors, but that is not the hotel staff's fault maybe a polite notice to residents to be aware of other residents sleeping.

We loved the bedroom suite, plenty of room. The staff were friendly and welcoming. 10/10 for the food at breakfast and dinner. Irratating brown blankets on the bed. The sauna and steam room doors need fixing. There are gaps at the bottom letting the heat out. We didn't enjoy these as the steam room smelt of a old mop.

The room the reception was held in looked absulutely beautiful. Receptionist was abrupt when we arrived saying we couldn't get into a room, when she realised i'd requested an early arrival as we were attending a marriage in the hotel she did give us a room. We had to ask for it to be turned into a twin as it was made up as a double. The heating was turned off in the room so it was freezing and the next morning although we had the radiator turned onto number 6 it wouldn't come on. We did report it to the reception. At the reception we were on Table 4. I think our table kept getting forgotten. We had tea/coffee brought to the table but no milk or sugar and by the time we found someone to ask and we got it all our drinks were cold, also our table never got the homemade fudge/chocolates with tea and coffee!! Oh well.

Nice surroundings, lovely building. Good food and friendly serving staff. Reception staff were quite rude. In between snatching keys from checking- out guests, they spent their time openly complaining about them. I overheard (by virtue of being *at the desk at the time*) a particularly lengthy rant about another guest who'd asked for specific requirements regarding a taxi. "What am I supposed to do - ring round every company in Chesterfield? I've got better things to do with me time!"
