My partner is vegan and we phone a head they told us this was no problem. The food was excellent and the chef said she would prepare anything my partner wanted lovely 3 course meal for us both..
Nothing to dislike.. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The food, dog friendly, the grounds, just wonderful ....we'll be back!!
Staff very friendly - nothing too much trouble. Good nights sleep and Excellent breakfast
As we drove into the hotel the paintwork looked a bit tired.
The building has real character. The room was good as were the staff.Beautiful grounds and ideally situated for the town.
The building needs some work. Window frames in poor condition and in our room unable to be opened. Interior generally dated.
Polite staff particularly bar staff, most helpful and charming. Excellent breakfast, sandwiches provided for a packed lunch were terrific. Evening meal in the bistro was delightful. Beautiful gardens
Facilities need an upgrade particularly bathrooms eg shower screens, toilet handles, Lino floors
The food in the Turf bar attached was excellent. Every single member of staff we came across was very friendly from receptionists to cleaners. The room was cosy and the bathroom big and airy with a bath. We will definitely be going there again. Loved how the grounds are attached to the park.
The only disadvantage was the breakfast - it was nice but could have had more choice.
friendly staff good location
tired decor outdated facilities ancient bathroom no wi-fi in bedroom
Musty smell to the room and heating not available (turned up radiators to no avail) although temperature dropped quite low overnight.
Good breakfast and room Gardens were beautiful with outdoor seating, over looking the garden
Exterior of the Building looked tired and in need of serious decoration . It was a shame , looking at the view of the garden ,through terrible windows . Viewing the period hotel from the garden - could have been magnificent .
Excellent breakfasts with Thirsk field mushrooms well cooked, decent scrambled eggs and a good selection for vegetarians and others.
how friendly the staff were
over the bath showers
Room small and bed to small for two people.corridors old and glum looking.main bar closed at night.windows in poor condition gaps would not like to stay in winter months.
Friendly staff, good breakfast location.
cavernous public rooms and the beautiful well kept gardens and diminutive lift clean and fluffy towels comfortable beds brilliant breakfast staff with sense of humour and very helpful
leaky roof in bar area
Needs some money spent on it
Location Room size Breakfast
Decor Needs improving
Large comfortable room Breakfast Beautiful terrace & garden
Dog left in room barked until about 22.30 until occupants can back, and started at 6.45 Recptionist response was - 'why didn't you complain earlier'. Very dissatified.
nice comfortable room, excellent breakfast, lovely and very well kept grounds. Very convenient for Ripon city centre.
Due to the very hot weather at the time the room was far too hot and was impossible to cool due to its top floor location, small opening window and the lack of a working extractor fan in the bathroom.
Quirky Fawlty Towers feel. Fabulous old building (sadly in need of investment) Great gardens and quoits courts
Erratic service Need for refurbishment
I liked the staff, size of room and cleanliness. The gardens were magnificent and it was wonderful to sit on the terrace, under a shade, and watch people playing croquet. Took me back in time.
The rather tired appearance of the decor. The window frame in my room was very old and needed replacing and the carpets were well worn.
Friendly, lovely gardens and very dog friendly.
very grand and a beautiful location, breathtaking view from the hotel bedroom. Very close for walking into town
breakfast was pretty average, the restaurant was closed and the turf bar was more bar than dining place
room and gardens food attentive staff
Good Location and a Beauiful big old hotel with great gardens.
looking very tired
