Excellent location for visiting the Yorkshire Dales. The hotel is very comfortable, full of character and is set in lovely grounds. The lounge area had a very welcoming open fire going the night we arrived, it was very cosy and warm - didn't want to move after a beer or two! The staff were all friendly and helpful. Self service breakfast was plentiful and generally good quality, although see below. We shall definately visit the Ripon Spa Hotel again. Only minor gripe was that when we went down to breakfast the bacon from the self service hot tray was on the tough side due to it being in there for a while. It seemed that they had put sufficient bacon in the hot tray from the start of breakfast to cover the whole sitting (One and a half hours), rather than replenishing with freshly cooked as necessary.

Set in extensive gardens and bordering onto the park. Eat at the hotel or a short stroll gives a choice of multi national dining. Not to be missed is The Hornblower at 9 pm in the market square each night. Good connections to Leeds and Harrogate. A little faded from its previous glory. A limited restaurant menu.

Welcoming Hotel set in pretty, well kept gardens with parking and within easy walk of Ripon Centre. Hotel is well run with no request too much trouble. Excellent breakfast. Ripon was a good centre to stay within easy reach of Richmond, Leyburn and Durham and has it's own delights with sights to see such as the Cathedral, good eateries and pubs and of course The Hornblower. Hotel was excellent value for money and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Good location for the Dales and North Yorkshire. Beware Room 66. If the fire alarm sounds the outer door of this room automatically unlocks and guests in other rooms along the corridor are guided through room 66 to the fire door. This is not a joke, but it would make a good scene in a "Carry On" film.

The whole atmosphere of the hotel.Friendlyness of staff, food was first class .Location of hotel was excellent for visiting National Trust venues such as Fountains Abbey,2 miles away and Brimham Rocks, which are well worth a visit. Right beside Spa gardens and only 5 minutes walk from market place where there is a good selection of bars and restaurants.Ripon Cathedral is also nearby and woth a visit. All in all an excellent venue.

Rooms Clean, Food good, Pleasant Staff, Lots of Parking Space. Welcome Pack was good, However considering the Hotel was built in 1906, there was no history of the Hotel, Famous Guests ? What was it used for during both World Wars (considering the area) These little things make all the difference !

It's an older, large hotel with lots of character and wonderful gardens. It's not far to walk to the shops and market square and there were plenty of parking spaces at the hotel. Our room was small but very adequate with a nice view over the croquet lawns! We found the staff friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a delicious, well presented evening meal in the Turf Bar. Breakfast was good too! Overall, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable - and we would definitely return. The only thing on our 'wish list' was that there had been shower caps and face cloths in the bathroom.

A very old imposing white painted building with some superb grounds and gardens. A friendly receptionist and easy trouble free check in. The room was on the second floor with a view of the gardens. Average size room for two people with modern furniture and a quite large ensuite. This is a very old building but has been renovated to a modern standard and although a two storey building has had an elevator fitted. This makes accessing your room very easy. Breakfast was very adequate and the staff efficient and friendly. Overall a good place to stay on a visit to North Yorkshire.

Food was exellent. Staff helpful and friendly Front entrance in need of a good coat of paint and some brasso Wall in carpark in need of repair... First impressions count. Hotel had a very dated and shabby look but with a bit of TLC that shabby could be turned into shabby chic.
