Old Victorian building in need of some TLC. The lighting in the bedroom was poor.

Excellent location with very friendly staff.

Lack of choice for menus. Same menu used for Bistro and Restaurant. No change of menu each day therefore no chance of different meals, if you only like one item on the menu. Not much choice in Ripon either! Same lack of choice for breakfast.

Room was to small. Wardrobe shelves had several months of dust. The decor was very old and tired. Bathroom was very small. Breakfast was a "kept warm till you are ready" type of meal.

Lovely building, friendly staff, very enjoyable stay and at incredibly good pirce.

The staff were excellent. Breakfast was excellent, well cooked and hot. The room was spotlessly clean.

The lift was very small and claustrophobic.

We like the public rooms very much, also the bar for evg meals. As less active people, we find the grounds and next door park a great asset for having somef fresh air and exercise. The bedrooms are spacious, lift available. Comfortable lounge and great terrace for better weather. It is close to where family members live. It is convenient to the city. We haven't a lengthy journey from home. And last but not least, the friendly atmosphere.

The tables for two at breakfast - too small! (Though we were happily seated on a 4 seater table when we asked.) We would agree with the comment about tables not being cleared quickly at breakfast when croquet parties are in, but that was on a visit some months back, so perhaps has been addressed.

The room very comfortable and clean. The staff and breakfast excellent and good value for money.

Room bore no resemblance to website, small, cold and definately in need of an update, asked twice for radiator to be put on. Hotel in need of refurbishment.

The meal we had in "turf bistro" was excellent.

Food and bar

Being rung on the Friday, not getting the message and then turning up at 8pm on saturday evening to be told there was a dinner dance on until 1am. They moved me to the 2nd floor but my room 'rocked' until 1am. No rate reduction, no offer of a free breakfast, just tough. I couldn't afford to go any where else so had to stay. If it happens to anyone else, my advice is cancel and go elsewhere as you won't get any sleep or sympathy.

The hotel is in a good location but I'm afraid to say very tired and a need of modernisation. The breakfast was excellant though.

2 year old running around in the bedroom above from 6 15am!! Not the hotels fault but consideration to the floors they put young children in as the hotel was quite empty.

needs money spent on it and revamping - name is misleading as no spa facilities very spartan

The food (most of the meals), very comfortable bed and nice warm room.

The decor was a bit dated. Booked special steak (had to book 24 hours in advance) for Anniversay Meal and it was awful.
