Situated 15 minutes’ walk from Dumfries town centre, Rivendell features rooms with antique furnishings and free Wi-Fi. Guests also benefit from free on-site parking. Room was lovely with plenty of hot water, towels, bedding and huge TV. Great to have an ipod player too. nothing!

Two chairs in room, saving having to sit on bed to read. Bed squeaked at slightest movement causing disturbed sleep. Extractor fan in ensuite did not work.

Location (near to train station) which was important to me for a city break. Staff were all friendly & helpful when arranging taxi's I explained that (even though my deal included breakfast) I would probably not actually be staying in the hotel! So, was hoping there might be some kind of reimbursement seeing as I did not eat a meal there or sleep there..

Room was nicely decorated. Breakfast was really nice. Location good for dumfries. We had a mix up when we arrived and the attitude of the staff did not make us feel welcome at all. We went away feeling quite dissapointed. Which wasnt good after having such a lovely week in the highlands. Also no information packs in the room.

The breakfast service was fantastic and staff very friendly had a nice conversation with the owner. The widescreen TV was fab room very pretty. The bathroom was not as luxury as the room no bath.The shower was nice did it's job.

Spacious, comfortable room with everything we needed. Good quality shower, tv etc. Good breakfast..No parking problem. Overall a quality attention to detail at a budget price. re 3 above - assume it is gay friendly as would disapprove of a B&B which wasn't. A few flower beds would be a nice touch.
