You will want for nothing. There is even fresh milk in a communal fridge so you can make a proper cup of tea. The bedroom was beautifully designed and the hosts were delightful to deal with. The B&B was in a beautiful location. John & Gilly were excellent hosts. We couldn't have wished for a better b&b, hosts or location. It really was top drawer. And the breakfast was stunning too. Perfect in every way. We will be back!

Very nice welcome and excellent breakfast Double bed quite narrow and short. Exacerbated by the bed end not allowing a 6'2" man to stretch. The double glazing was an super sound proofer BUT when fresh air needed a main highway literally feet away is disruptive.

John and Gilly are fantastic hosts and make you feel really welcome. The cottage is beautiful as is the location and is exactly the sort of place my fiance and I love. We have stayed in many a boutique before now and I can tell you with great confidence, that River Cottage comes extremely high on the list, only to be beaten by Kegworth House on value for money. Having said that the breakfast at River Cottage would take some beating so we'll call it a draw. Wonderful stay and will definitely be back. Many thanks to John and Gilly for their fantastic hospitality. Nothing - apart from the recent booking.com reviewer that complained about road noise! We stayed in the room that would be most affected and didnt hear a pin drop all night, let alone car noise????

I took my husband here for the weekend for our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Gilly and John were such welcoming hosts and made us feel that nothing was too much trouble. Such a beautiful old property yet absolutely immaculate, the rooms were beautifully presented. A good selection of breakfast was offered with locally sourced produce where attainable which was cooked to perfection. I would like to visit here in summer to make use of the garden although autumn is a stunning time to visit too. The one and only small complaint we have was the size of the bed. I understand that it was a French antique bed but it was very narrow making myself and my husband feel quite cramped and also the length of it.....it was under 6 foot so you can imagine how my husband felt who is 6'1". But that is the ONLY complaint.

Service was excellent, property was immaculate, breakfast was amazing and location was ideal for touring the peak district Only complaint was the proximity to the road, ideal for arriving/touring etc but as the room was warm we opened the window at night and found the noise of the traffic a little disturbing on our first night which was a Thursday but lessened into the weekend.

It is a very nice b&B. Location is lovely. Owners are very welcoming. Breakfast is excellent. I would definetly go back! We had a room with a private bath and would have preferred an ensuite. This wasn't clear when we booked the room via booking.com.

You will want for nothing. There is even fresh milk in a communal fridge so you can make a proper cup of tea. The bedroom was beautifully designed and the hosts were delightful to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was to a high standard. Although the B & B is just off the A6 the noise was not an issue. The room has a clever ventilation system so you don't need to open a window. Highly recommended. The Wireless Internet signal didn't reach our room because of the nature of the building.

The hosts Gilly and John made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. Gave lots of information about local places to visits and restaurants to try. The breakfasts where amazing - far too much and the preserves all home made were excellent. Thank you for a wonderful stay. JanW

The owners who go out of their way to make you feel so welcome in their beautiful home - nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is in an idyllic position; the rooms are very comfortable and stylishly appointed. Breakfast is excellent - local produce and home-made preserves. Nothing at all. It was perfect for what we wanted.

It was absoluately lovely. A friendly efficient welcome. A beautiful room. Breakfast was perfect. The garden space was delightful. And we were given a little torch to take out with us that night as the street lighting was none existant! That was very thoughtful. It would be somewhere i would definately recommend for a chill out. Parking space a little tight (if you own a big car it may be an issue).

The owners John and Gilly were very friendly and welcoming, the rooms were to a high standard, as were the breakfasts. They equally provided information by e-mail on local inns to ensure our evening meals were covered. Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends. Only one minor issue the rooms are very warm at night our windows had no small opening lights, fans were provided but noisy, but other than this we really enjoyed our stay.

The welcome and hospitality were excellent. A lovely room and the gardens were a real plus in the sunny weather - very relaxing. The breakfast was excellent and really good advice given by the hosts regarding places to eat in the evening. The cottage was a perfect base for exploring the area, including Chatsworth, Bakewell and Buxton. Very close to the road though this wasnt really a problem for us. No public room for guests though in the good weather the garden made up for this.

Beautiful setting with pretty gardens and outside area to feed the ducks, trout by the river. The hosts were very friendly, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating. They went out of their way to make the stay a wonderful experience. Would definitely go there again! All the bedrooms are double beds, so no twins. If you're family/friends who don't want to share a bed, then you may want to rethink.
