The hotel is is a good position for access to the beautiful beaches at Bournemouth. The public areas are well maintained and clean. We stayed on a b & b basis and the breakfast was excellent. The waiting staff at breakfast were very efficient and helpful. Our room was very disappointing (small and cramped for a double) and not at all comparable or representative of the bright and airy images shown on the Booking.com web pages. On arrival we asked if any other rooms were available. This was not possible as the hotel was full (half term week). Also - we had booked our stay as a last minute break, so I imagine that our rooms were the only ones remaining. The gap between the bed and the wardrobe was approximately 12 inches. This would not offer free access to many people, particularly anyone with mobility problems. There was a range of other very minor problems (no parking available at times either in the hotel car park or on street locally / swimming pool closed for maintenance / bar service etc), however we spent very little time in the actual hotel - so these minor things did not detract from our stay. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, but only if the room type could be confirmed in advance and it was guaranteed to be similar to the images shown on the web site. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was great, so really that's the most important thing.

Having previously stayed at The Royal Bath in Bournemouth we were not expecting too much of a 3* hotel further down the coast however we were very pleasantly surprised. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was small but very clean and all you actually needed. We requested a balcony and sea view as it was our wedding anniversary and this was done for our arrival at no extra cost. The location of the hotel is superb - a few minutes walk from Alum Chine beach which is sandy, has a very nice Italian restaurant which you can sit outside and also has an enclosed playground attached to it - so we'll be bringing the kids down next time as it looks ideal for them. We walked to Westbourne in the evening and had a great curry in the Westbourne Tandoori and walked back - not too far. Bournemouth pier was a 20 minute walk away - so we had a paddle down to the shops in town on Sunday morning then got the bus back almost to the door of the hotel. Didn't get to try the pools as the weather wasn't great for the outdoors one and we didn't want to spend any time indoors. All in all a very good weekend at a reasonable price for a summer weekend in Bournemouth. Definitely recommend.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially as we took our dog with us. They are definitely friendly towards well behaved dogs and I would go there again because of it. The only thing I would say is that the mattress on the double bed in our room was old as I could feel the springs beneath me and it had sagged at either end - meaning my head was lower than the rest of my body. A pillow sorted it out, but it wasn't the most comfortable bed in the world.

Old world atmosphere, friendly staff, lot's of visitors in the same age group as my wife and I. We had a nice walk along the beach into the city, the locaion was perfect. The Riviera is an old building with old facilities and can be a bit dangerous for older people getting in and out a bath shower. On saturday night there was a party in the main bar and there is a lot of noise transfer thought the the building.

We arrived somewhat later than planned, so had missed dinner, but the manager rang round the local restaurants to find one still open for us. We only stayed one night so did not use most of the facilities, but the beds were comfortable, there was a large bathroom, and a good selection of hot and cold food available for breakfast. Overall, good value for an overnight stop, and public rooms looked welcoming for those staying longer. The decor in our looked a little drab - browns. We could hear water from the rain dripping loudly onto the window sill outside during the night.

Cost performance was excellent. Rooms are a little dated. Shower didn't work in room but staff let us use the shower in another vacant room which was perfectly fine.

We stayed at the riviera for one night and it was perfect for a short stay , we had a twin room which was a little small but with a good sized bathroom , may feel a little cramped for a longer stay. Even though it was small the room had everything we needed and had nice toilleties and adequate tea , coffee etc. We had trouble connecting to the wi-fi but didnt raise a query with the staff as we didnt desperatly need internet connection. The location is perfect and alum chine beach is only 5 mins walk away , we also walked along the beach down to the pier in Bournemouth and had fish and chips at Harry Ramsdens in the evening :) The breakfast in the morning was lovely and self service which we liked , didnt get a chance to use pool but it looked nice. Would definatly stay here again ! Some of the other hotel guests had obviously been out partying in bournemouth and were extremely noisy coming back in the evening , some at 4am ! Not the fault of the hotel just other people being inconsiderate :(

1) Swimming pool and jacuzzi 2) friendly staff on reception 3) clean room with nice balcony and view 4) excellent room service with friendly man 5) when asking for pillows that we got a phone call to ask how many and these were brought up 6) nice food at breakfast 7) ample parking 8) facilities of outside pool looked nice if it had been a different season! 9) really reasonable prices - I was amazed we both stayed for 2 nights at such a reasonable rate. 10) bar with singer and entertainment. These are minor things but they were a little issues that could be addressed as they are suggestions: 1) The shower was hard to get the right temperature as it was mixing the taps and when you were in it sometimes it would go really hot and then cold. This was in room 124. Perhaps an investment for power shower? 2) More pillows on the bed in the first place.

Just a 5 minute walk to the beach, loads to do in and around the area. Great food and free parking. Around 15 minute to walk to bournmouth town centre along the beautyful beach. Only complaint was we were in room No 8 which was right above the pool so the room was really warm. Lucky due to the time of year (october) it didn't affect us too much.
