I found the Riviera very homely and I loved the stroll to look at the bay at the end of the road. I enjoyed a chinese meal next door at the restaurant. Very calm and peaceful after a buy day.

We chose a small b&b rather than the large hotels because they are usually more friendly and homely. This was neither, it was more like visiting a morgue. The room was really old fashioned which wasn't a problem but it was dirty. The bathroom needed a thorough clean. The bath plug needed scrubbing & bleaching and the shower curtain was dirty. The sides of the bath, shelves and wall mounted hair dryer (which was the most useless I have ever come across) had dust and dirt that looked like it had built up over years. The owner, Lester, was unfriendly and even through he came into the dining room whilst myself and another couple were waiting for breakfast he didn't even say good morning. It was the unfriendiest hotel we have ever stayed in. I would not recommend this hotel but the Astor which was on the same street seemed much more friendly and lively.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable; breakfast was fine with good quality bacon and fresh coffee. Quiet road with easy acess to the Hoe and centre of the city. It was freezing the night we stayed and the room was cold; the radiator was not working but the bigest problem is that the windows are single- skinned and not double-glazed.

Nice friendly and very helpfull staff, the location was 5 minutes away from the event and also the sea view, rooms were very nice and comfortable with all the trimings you would expect in the room, the breakfast meal was great, good food with plenty of variety. All ok the only thing is there could be a few more pots of milk in the room for tea or coffee, there was plenty of both apart from milk pots

Very friendly hotel, great location (very close to sea front), clean, good breakfast, good value for money. | would definitely recommended for other travellers. Hotel has no car park - you have to leave your car on the road next to the hotel and pay at pay machine - it is marked on hotel's website.
