It felt more like an exclusive let, rather than a hotel stay. Everything was very friendly and relaxed. Sam's breakfast was delicious!
Clean, beautiful rooms Homely yet modern decor Lovely Staff Stunning building great location
Situated in a beautiful spot, views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Lovely staff who went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed - above and beyond expectation!
Loved the whole experience! Such a fantastic location with wonderful views from every angle. Staff were so hospitable and helpful, we felt right at home immediately and thoroughly enjoyed our whole stay. Thank you so much!
A beautiful 12th century castle with the luxury of a small 5 star boutique hotel. Very relaxing and quiet, a multitude of places to have some peace and no noise from our children. Fantastic choice of breakfast's from which to choose. Very friendly and warm atmosphere and staff. We will definitely visit again.
First impressions were spectacular, the castle has been restored and refurbished to perfection, just with a modern twist. Very comfy bed and fantastic showers. Common areas were spacious and comfy as well.
Setting, rooms, staff and of course breakfast.
Uncomfortable bed and synthetic duvet and pillows. Lounge and kitchen furniture design led and not too comfortable. Shower tray extremely slippery.
Interior, bathrooms, honesty bar
A little too warm in the rooms (unusually warm outside for time of year).
Superb, professional, luxurious. Without fault.
Excellent in every way absolutely beautiful had a great stay cannot fault this hotel we have stayed in hotels all around the world this was still an amazing experience the architecture was incredible
Others have said it all. Wonderful restoration of the ancient castle with all of the mod cons you could ever want. You are encouraged to make yourself at home by the helpful and attentive staff, and its not difficult. Our four night stay went by far too quickly. We would love to return.
Lovely beds , specious and comfy. Generous bathroom, beautifully done lounges and amazing views.
We knew Roch Castle in its former state and were keen to see it after renovation. We were not disappointed by the quality of its fittings, the comfort of the rooms and the spectacular situation, with views used to perfection by the sun room. It was a bit masculine for my wife's taste, and this view was shared by our friends, but we were well looked after by the attentive, friendly staff, who managed our planned dining perfectly (there is no restaurant). We enjoyed the informality of the communal rooms, the comfort of the bedrooms, and the flexibility of the whole set-up.
The stairs were hard work with suitcases.
The attention to detail is next to none, as soon as you walk up to the castle it feels like a really special treat is ahead of you. The accomadation is very comfortable and the views are to die for. We really liked the lounge areas and the fact that there is an honesty bar to enjoy and the breakfast was perfect. the whole experience was one to remember especially as it was our anniversary! truly wonderful!
The castle is simply amazing, nothing to fault. The staff are wonderful and make you feel like the castle is yours for the time you are there. Cannot recommend it enough
Everything......to the questions answered as "excellent" above can be added that the staff were extremely polite and attentive...nothing was too much trouble. The lounge/ "honesty bar" area was stunning with its 300° view across to the sea and surrounding countryside. The Philippe Stark designed en suite was beautiful in its simplicity. Roch castle made our weekend
No lifts...but I suppose they were not around in the 12th century!!!
Staff were first class polite attentive and very professional. The castle has been excellently designed and no expense spared all round perfect romantic retreat.
Gates failed to operate and we failed to make a dinner reservation. This was compensated for and wasn't a massive issue as the gates were opened after 45 minutes. However the castle is going to open an aka carte evening menu for the guests only and I think this will make the whole package unmissable for a weekend romantic retreat.
Everything!!! Great location, staff and room!
Staid only one night :-(
The peace and tranquil feel of the accommodation.
It was unfortunate that there were no evening meal facilities despite the information on the web site.
We booked, at short notice, for a three day break. Arriving at the gated venue was impressive and something very special. The quality of the interior and service was equally impressive. The staff were extremely helpful and professional. A longer return visit is a must.
It is a castle with many steep stairs to the upper rooms. This is part of its charm - but visitors with walking problems would be advised to book rooms on the lower floors.
quirky, design and imaginative blend of old and new.
No restaurant and seating at breakfast too cramped. Had to share table and room felt too small for purpose.
Arrived in pouring rain with volume of luggage and somewhat downcast to see no ramps anywhere and large volumes of steps outside and of course inside. However, it is a medieval castle so perhaps this was a little hopeful! The interior of the castle was superb and the quality of the rooms was first class. Very modern and contemporary with spotless cleanliness. Separate lounge with drinks available, large TV, blu-ray/dvd player. Small library and other odd alcoves everywhere with books, comfortable seating and superb views. Grounds looked good - but weather too inclement to explore. Very helpful staff who went out of the way to assist with luggage, procure a taxi and find a restaurant; this was very much appreciated after a long journey. Wi-fi good.
No receptionist on site all the time. Therefore, phoning the castle before arrival on a few occasions and not being able to speak to anyone was disappointing considering the castle is a top class establishment (and the room rate charged). Breakfast choice somewhat limited. A little more choice for vegetarians would be a suggestion. No restaurant, although understand there may be plans to implement one at some stage.
A wonderfully restored castle, decorated with great taste! A lovely big room with great views! Great area to explore! Nice and friendly staff with helpful advice about restaurants and taking suitcases to room! A bit of information about the history of the castle, who lived there etc would have been greatly appreciated!
The rooms weren't cleaned and towels left lying around. The bed was made very sloppily! The breakfast was only average. Hard soft boiled eggs to be eaten with soldiers for dipping!!!
Fantastic setting; high quality of furnishings and fittings (but see opposite); really good breakfast.
There were no easily accessible, unused electric sockets. There was one behind a bedside table, and for another I had to crawl about on the floor and unplug something. Also the extractor in our bathroom never switched itself off.
