Value for money

The site is small and very quiet, the lodge had everything you need for a short break away, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
Good sized, clean space, excellent for family. The owners are very pleasant. Great value for money. Lovely walk into Pickering.
Wifi connection not great.
felt very welcome, would definately stay again, dog friendly, nice walk in nearby woods,
The bed, the birds and the trees!
Having to come home!
The cabins were cosy (we stayed in a studio with our young daughter on the sofa bed). One thing to note is that the cabins are very warm, so we kept having to turn the heating off even in November! Loads to do round there and an excellent child friendly pub in Wrelton (the Buck Inn), though beware as it stops serving food early on Sunday).
Nothing. Top notch place!
Location great, v peaceful. Owners v helpful and friendly. Good value. Site small but well equipped. Lovely.
No dining table and chairs in our lodge.
Not too far away from places to go and things to do. We went out for the day and then for a meal on the night. Both journeys done in under half an hour.
The site is excellent. Quite, well laid out, play area for children and a barbeque/picnic area. Lodge was adequate for two people. Clean and well equipped. The balcony was a nice touch with a table and chairs to sit out.The site is beautifully lit on a night.
Shower was quite small. .A toaster would have been good .
The peace and tranquillity. The veranda had lots of seats and a lovely view over a field towards woodland.
When we put the central heating on the cabin smelt of dog. The shower leaked over the bathroom floor.
Location was great very friendly staff.
Wasn't as big as pictures made out - wasn't told it was extra for children's bedding even though booked as travelling with 2.
Very peaceful, clean and quiet location. Owner, Es, was very helpful and welcoming. Fir trees and good lighting. Other visitors have returned many times. Dog friendly.
Lodges quite small, but adequate. Lodges quite close together
Woke up to 2 huge spiders in bed.
On arrival we found we were going to be staying in a wooden chalet nestled amongst the trees. The chalet was beautiful to look at and inside was kitted out with everything you needed to enjoy your stay without any need to go out, a kitchen and TV. The site has a shed with DVDs if it rains and you need something to do. The hosts were pleasant and friendly, the reception area has milk etc if you need. The site was quiet and sooooo much nicer than a stay in a field full of ugly looking caravans or a room in a house on some street.
Nothing. my partner and i enjoyed the site the chalet and the amenities.
The lodges were spacious and comfortable,we had a studio lodge but would get the one with the extra bedroom next time for the kids as when they went to sleep we were reluctant to make a sound .the bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room outside for the kids to run around.I would come again as there is a lot to see in Yorkshire.
As we were not local I would have liked to have more information on local walks. There was a pub close by we would have walked to but we were not sure if the narrow road was the only way to walk there ,so didn't feel comfortable doing so as was worried about walking back in dark .also would have also liked to know the way to local wood lands (I am not a very good map reader as they had one in the information cabin)
everything about the lodge, no quabbles
We loved the location and the family were very welcoming only downside for us was it was very cosy for 2 adults and a 12 year old also struggled in the kitchen for counter space but wouldnt deter us from returning.
Kids were very happy with park, animals and played with lots of other children. The people who owned the cabins were lovely, and even give my son a birthday card, When they found out it was his birthday.
I booked with booking.com. Our cabin was Only for 2 adults and 2 small children. We had a double bed and a bed-settee. It wasnt ideal, as we had our son age 8 and neice age 10. Next time, we will book with Rocklands, themselves.
Views from caravan were great. Loved seeing ponies and goats right outside our window. Lots of DVDs to choose from. Kids loved the play area and the little shop with honesty box.
No complaints. Just a suggestion - would be even better if, alongside DVDs for hire, a few boardgames/packs of cards were available. (We stayed on way back after family visit in Scotland so didn't think to bring anything.)
Gorgeous location and fabulous lodges. Would definitely stay here again. Even though lodges quite close to each other the patio areas don't overlook each other so still feels secluded and private.
Lodges were clean, well decorated and well equipped. We had a great stay in a studio lodge and found the lodge included everything we could have needed. The park area was great for the kids and the location perfect for exploring more of the North Yorkshire Moors. We would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future!
The common ground area was perfect for our multi-family stay. We had 4 families with kids from 8 wks - 18 yrs old & it was fun for everyone.
My fiancée and I wanted to take our 2yr old son away for a few days close to several attractions and costal towns to visit which for us was Scarborough, Whitby & Flamingo Land. Rockland Lodges was ideally located for this. I gathered this was a family run business to whom I found more than happy to help with any queries we had. There seemed to be around a dozen log cabins/lodges (don't quote me on that for definite!) sparingly plotted around the small woodland site which was surrounded mainly by pine trees giving you a complete outback/camping feel to it. As good as it was in summer to stay I can imagine that it would be quite magical in winter. To conclude this was a pleasant place to stay, quiet and child friendly and most definitely would visit again.
The only down side I would have to say is that you need a car to pretty much get everywhere. However, if your willing to accept this it's not really a negative point!
Play area, peaceful, well equipped cabins, the little touches for extra comfort
Great location to explore North Yorkshire. York 45 min drive. Flamingoland 15 drive. Pickering for train to Whitby 2 miles away. You can drive to Whitby also if you prefer but we wanted to take the steam train since my boy loves the trains. If you drive to Whitby and Scarbrough they around the sane distance from the lodge around 20-25 miles around a 45 min drive on the country roads.
We arrived at Rocklands hon time to check in at 4pm. Nonody greeted us. We proceeded to reception and found the keys in an envelope for 14 Glaisedale. The check in was from 4pm onwards so i feel that someone could have made an effort and been there from 4-9pm to check in there guests. We found the lodge. I feel I was miss informed with the info posted on there web page about the lodge being "NEAR" the park. Near the park to me is a short walk maybe 50 to 100 yards. But It wasn't near the park it was practically on top of it. My idea of a peaceful break in a nice lodge went out the window there were around 5-6 kids and there parents running around outside our lodge every night, I couldn't even sit and have a nice drink or a bit of peace and quiet on patio because the ball kept coming over to us and screaming kids making noise. The patio was area was dirty there was old bottles from the previous owners still in the recycling box, a dog bowl with old food in it that had filled up with rain water. My mother went to her room and found 2 dead flies one on her bed another on her window sill. Talking of the flys when we enter and unpacked we found a fly swatter. I was soon to find out why it was there. (I seriously in all honesty must have killed around 15 flies in the first hour or so). The lodge backs into a farmers field and they use manure ect on the crops, personally that's why I think we were overrun with the flys. The weather was hot and we couldn't open the doors for fear of letting all flies back in. The top of the fridge freezer was greasy and dirty looks like it not been wiped for a while. The stairs leading upto the lodge are dangerous with a big gap between the bottom steps. My mother has a bad knee and I have a small 4 year old boy . So I stuck the gate over the step so he couldn't use them and we used the disability ramp instead. The barbecue area looked like it hadn't been cleaned and the utility's were scruffy .
