Friendly helpful staff. Went the extra mile Food was really good. Monday night offer was organic steak, chips and salad. Great steak, great value. Was able to sample the wine before I decided. Room was clean and comfortable Location was perfect for me. Fresh cooked breakfast, perfect. Finer touches appreciated -- fruit in room, decent coffee and tea.A real hotel with real human staff where I felt I was welcome, that my custom was appreciated and I could make myself at home.
Decorations perhaps a little tired but not an issue.
The hotel's location, as well as its simple and pleasant atmosphere.
Parking was an issue. The allocated space was small and hard to locate. I had to park my car in Pay and Display during evening hours and later park the car in the hotel's drive way, but not in my allocated spot.
Convenient to eating places Convenient to the wedding venue
Lack of parking Hot at night and noisy if window open Rooms rather small Breakfast was a struggle with one waitress while there were 2 on reception doing little
Very peaceful as my room was at the back of the hotel.
Very good staff, good breakfast
My room was above the boiler room and I could hear the boilers all night, but they did offer to move me
Nice room, comfortable clean bed.
All was good
Friendly staff, helpful with recharging appliances.
Not knowledgeable about late night eateries. Unable to upgrade to larger bed. No AC and no window screens and limited curtain options. No elevator and no help for a senior carrying luggage upstairs.
The location is good if you plan to stay in Clifton. Breakfast is not bad at all.
This comment is for an executive single room. The room was extremely small for the price, same as the bed. The mattress was old and too soft, I didn't have a good sleep. On a Thursday night there was a kind of a very loud party in the lobby that could be heard throught the hotel. Fortunately it finished at 23:15. WIFI is not free. I was at the third floor (top) and there was not enough water pressure even with a power shower.
The bed was to short. The shower was too small The room was really really small The breakfast takes too long to be served
Location for walking into Bristol, around Clifton, the bridge, pubs and restaurants a plenty. Make sure to ask for garden facing room, 2nd floor for peace & quiet! Staff fantastic. Our 2nd visit for 10 days
Frequent weddings & private functions, but, tolerable if room 2nd floor, & never really bothered us!!
Reasonable price, staff were helpful. Good location.
Small room, noise from other guests
Good location. Friendly staff. Good food.
Too small to hold a party. Very basic facilities. Only a few parking spaces and daily charge applicable.

staff & location
Very noisy fire doors in corridors. Boiler on second floor is noisy too.
I liked the atmosphere & I liked the decor. I liked the front garden & the private driveway. I liked the bar & reception area.
The rubbish bins for all the buildings were at the front of the hotel & looked very unsightly. This spoils the entrance to the hotel & gives a bad first impression.
The hotel is situated in a very good location in beautiful Clifton. I really enjoyed the restaurant that offers amazing dishes.
It was ok for what it was used for a wedding in Redlands
The location was Fab and convenient for spending time in Clifton
A hotel that hugs you as you walk in. A great location for shopping, eating out or sight seeing. Walking distance to everywhere with loads of coffee shops and great places to eat. On a bus route and next to a taxi stand. A very safe place to be. English charm
- Good Place to explorer Clifton and Bristol in general; nice little hotel; due to a wedding party the hotel kindly asked us to move to another hotel for the 3rd night - "the Clifton" was a really nice place; we got a pretty, little room and the Rodney paid us the taxi to get there
We booked 3 nights in the Rodney but because of a Wedding we were asked to move to the Sister Hotel "the Clifton" for the last night which we accepted. However there were also wedding parties the 2 nights before which meant a lot of noise particularly in the 2nd night. Morever we were given a room in the basement which was quite fusty.
Breakfast was a good standard.
Squeky floorboards. Not just outside my room but above as well. ?
The location in Clifton Village, Bristol could not be better- walk out of the front door and find all the cafes and buzz of Clifton Village on your doorstep. I stone's throw away from the Suspension Bridge and Avon Gorge. Basically a beautiful old Georgian townhouse...but.....
We have been staying here when we visit Clifton for business on and off for years, and I find myself always trying to find other equally well sited venues. The decor and a lot of the furnishing are tired and faded. things work, or don't, in a haphazard kind of way. There are no duvets, however the sheets and pillow cases are perfectly clean, but blankets and bedspreads??? Our bedspread was so stained on the underside (blood and no doubt other body fluids..) that we had to ask for it to be removed. The fittings in the bathroom are old, and the paintwork every where is battered and scruffy. My partner's keycard allowed him to walk directly into the room adjoining ours...terrible!! I think it is time Clifton Hotels group give the Rodney a well deserved and much needed make over! Sorry!

We booked online and put in our requests. To our amazement, they were fully aware of these on our arrival and had already met our requests - excellent!
