The friendliness of the staff, the location in relation to relatives house, the breakfasts were very good and the rooms were reasonably clean and airy. The shower - we have never had a decent shower with good water pressure in all the time we have stayed there. It's time some attention was paid to cleaning the shower heads once in a while!! In addition, there was no extractor fan in the bathroom (Room 101) and the mirrors got steamed up and stayed steamed up because it was so cold in there - the towel rail never worked. We were also very disappointed with the bar service, there was never anyone there when needed, they always seemed to be off somewhere else, usually sorting out reception. They should not have to do both jobs. And someone should have a word with some of the regulars whose language was appalling.

The staff were excellent, friendly and considerate, we were eating away from the Roebuck at another more expensive hotel but the Staff at the Roebuck were well above the standard at the other hotel. It was also quite good value We thought it looked a little tired and old fashioned - could do with some investment to bring the building up to the standard of the staff

Bar atmosphere good. Room Damp and clammy. Including bedding, pillows and cushions. Possibly due to insufficient ventilation from internal bathroom. Dirt and mould growth on window surround. Duvet cover torn and in holes exposing a dirty duvet beneath. TV remote so dirty I would not use. Bathroom sink had not been adequately cleaned. I did not use the restaurant ( other than cheese and biscuits from the bar ) as I would imagine the shortfalls in housekeeping would extend to the kitchen area also.

It was close to where we wanted to be. The service was extremely poor. They only had one member of staff on at any time during the weekend who had to tend to the bar and all other jobs. It took 20 minutes to get booked in on the Saturday and 15 minutes for someone to serve us breakfast on the Sunday. We had to go into the kitchen to get help. Also the room was not cleaned of dirty crockery. Recommend you stay at the the Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express instead of the Roebuck Inn. Very porr and disappointing experience.

The comfort of the bedroom - we were very tired after a long journey, but woke up fully refreshed the next morning. During breakfast the busy waitress (1) took and prepared an order for room service, which was well received.I had a difficulty ordering a taxi later that night while attending a function in Knebworth Golf Club. The hotel night porter was brilliant and organised our lift back to the hotel. That service will be well remembered On arrival at 17.30 hours I tried to order a snack in the bar and a bit of a fuss was made by the bar staff and I was told that my credit had not been authorised and anyway the kitchen was not open until 18:00 hours. When booking in I was not asked for a credit card. I offered to pay cash and the order was taken at 17:45 and delivered to me in the bar at 18:10 and it was satisfactory. In these recessionary times the bar staff should be more aware that customers needs are not a nuisance and can be converted into business.

Very comfortable and clean. Only a few silly things, our party found that the kitchen/restaurant service closed earlier than stated in the hotel time table & room service guide so we had to drive into town to find somewhere to eat. Also the showers could have had a little more power, it took ages to rinse the shampoo out of our hair every day. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.

The Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the meals, ie dinner and a breakfast. We both thought that the Hotel public rooms needed a little sprucing up and modernising, some of the furnishings looked a little tired. However we were very comfortable in our room.

Our visit was for one night only, we found the Inn very homely and confortable, the bathroom was spic and span. (excellent in cleanliness) if we visit that way again, we will definately book with your accommodation again. For any future short breaks we would definately try to find a Best Western Hotel.

Reception staff were extremely polite and helpful - extra towels arrived within about 30 seconds of us asking for them (there was only one bath towel in the room when we arrived, between two people!). Definitely the worst "Best Western" hotel I have ever stayed in. 1. The decor was really shabby and dated. 2. The buffet breakfast was taken away around us on the dot of 10.30 without us being asked if we wanted anything else before it was tidied away.
