We booked an executive room . The room itself was excellent but the bathroom let it down. The shower head was attached to the bath taps (not an issue) but there was no where to raise it and attach it to the wall. The only way to have a shower was to sit in the bath and hold the shower head over yourself. Also, breakfast wasn't great. We have stayed in many Best Western hotels and have had much better. These are the only two gripes, overall excellent.
Apart from the negative comment opposite the day was brilliant staff on duty in the wedding suites could not do enough nothing too much trouble .
The only thing that let the day down was been told in the Jacobean bar that we had to use the two bars in the wedding suite and not this one .On arrival from church there was only one bar available to us in the wedding suite and with well over 100 guests wanting to get served I wouldn't have thought you would have restrictions on which bar we could use as long as we were purchasing your drinks
Not far from South Elmsall our destination. Great surroundings and very peaceful and quiet.
Asked for an alarm and didnt get it. Nightman not great on arriving. I know we arrived late but we had got lost, it seemed we had disturbed him.
The Rooms were very clean, even down to the extract vents. Beds were comfortable with the twins beds pushed together to form a king size, the room was well stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay including tea & coffee and somewhere to plug in your iPod. Ne extra charge for wi-fi which is refreshing. The breakfast although fully self-service was very good. Overall the cleaning standards throughout the hotel were excellent. From what I saw of the grounds they were meticulously kept. Overall a nice stay for a hotel built in 1610, with plenty of character.
The bathrooms although very clean we're dated in terms of showers and decor. Pictures around the room looked a bit gloomy.
Lovely old property with views over the countryside. Food was good value and as a resident could order until 9.30 p.m. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom.
Intrusive promotional TV screen in Jacobean Bar.
Building, grounds, staff and resteraunt facilities all exellent
What's not to like?!!
Nice room décor although the bath did not have a shower head. Good WIFI. Despite my gripe about the restaurant it is a good hotel and I will be staying there again.
The main restaurant was in the Jacobean pub next door. This was a bit of a scrum in that you have to order food at the bar but if you are on your own there is a risk that the table you were planning to sit at was then taken by someone else. Also they have a TV on with a rotating slide show promoting their future events in the pub. I am not keen on TV's in restaurants but I am even less keen on TV's that are marketing. There is a bar in the hotel which has a much better environment but they serve a limited menu so better to walk a mile or so down the road to the Fox. A nice pub with table service and no TV.
The food was lovely The double bed was really comfortable There is a nice bar to work in, with a great service.
There wasn't a shower, only a bath There was the usual tea/coffee/kettle, but located in an empty wardrobe - was a bit strange. Not a great selection of red wine
Fine location very good spacious room. Good food.
The food was lovely, grounds were beautiful, reception/bar staff were helpful
Our room was right next door to my brothers bridal suite! Not what I wanna hear really if you get my meaning..., when we arrived in our room the bath had a scum ring around it and also a deposit left in the toilet. Luckily I had baby wipes to clean the bath and after a few flushes the toilet cleared.
As parents of the groom the venue, staff and accommodation was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was served their meals same time as the top table. The food was hot and of very high standard.
Well organised, good food. Excellent venue for a wedding reception. Lovely gardens. Everyone enjoyed it.
Unfortunate about noise very early morning (particularly closing the dividing wall, our room was over the function room), but I appreciate work had to be done to clear up, and prepare for the next wedding
Brilliant area and absolutely charming hotel
Nice modern room Air con in room Characterful location
Breakfast a bit basic compared to hotel
Beautiful location, very comfy bed, everything in good working order in the room and very clean
Being given a lower grade room to what was booked. I was finally moved but not to the executive room booked. They put me in a large family room which did not have the facilities booked on line. Food was cheap on room service but you get what you pay for. Very disapointing.
Nice large room, comfortable, clean. Excellent breakfast.
Slight problem toilet did not flush correctly.
That I was phoned after booking and asked if I wanted to go ahead with the booking. I had requested a quiet room and there was a function on. The function finished at 11pm and I made the decision to go ahead, It was excellent to have been given the option beforehand.
good food friendly service
shower room a bit dark ,but very clean, need better lighting
Fantastic place great food and service
The food, the room, the gardens, and the staff.
Only spending one night there.
The location was delightful and our room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The main restaurant does not open on a Sunday evening so our only choice was the carvery which would not normally our first choice when dining.
Lovely room Stanswick Suite very spacious. Steak restaurant very nice breakfast freshly cooked.
Room a little dark and no view would have liked something brighter. Only one towel for a double room. No lift may be disadvantageous for wheelchair users.
