Friendly staff, reception and restaurant. Excellent food. Quirky bedroom: old building conversion rather than newbuild box! Interesting lighting in bathroom

A long area other than bar or foyer would have been useful as we met local friends there for Sunday lunch. Stayed in old part of hotel - no lift, would have been useful if we'd had more luggage.

The building is very old, pretty, but nicely upgraded to a modern standard. The pub/restaurant is also very attractive, and the food good.

Good access to A1(M). Ample parking. Pleasant country setting. Pleasant period-style building. Staff for upgrading us as room a week earlier was too dark.Staff for finding well-lit table for dinner.

Artificial lighting in Room 4 abysmal in bathroom. Also in the Oak Dining Room (I am registered blind with limited vision). Food of very average 'pub' quality. A rump steak was almost inedible.

some helpful person set 2am alarm on tv 4am fire alarm tv sound is fuzzy number of tv channels have digital freeze no shower (room 21) bath too narrow to get shoulders wet work desk in dark pokey corner room decorated like tarts boudoir (pink & blue lights)

This hotel has lots of character and is set in a lovely location. We could not fault our stay it was perfect. Lots of choice for breakfast to suit all tastes.

Everything was excellent especially the value; food very good and the hotel staff were the most helpful and friendly weve come across. So well done everybody. loved the area and Nostall abbey well worth a visit, but Pontefract was lacking

The staff were all excellent. We were well looked after without feeling 'intruded' on. The room was small but very comfortable, and reflected the price we paid well. The breakfast (full english) was lovely...perfectly poached eggs and not swimming in grease! Thank you chef!!

The room was too hot and we couldn't get the heating to go off. Nothing in the hotel information booklet to help, and in hindsight we should have asked reception to sort it out, as I'm sure they would have done so. Our fault really, not the hotel.

A very comfortable balance between staff friendliness and professional service, a charming feel in the public rooms and a delightful, delicious and very fairly priced dinner in the 1610 restaurant.

Bath with no stand-up shower is quaint, luxurious if you have the time, but not very practical. Room needs a proper 'desk-space' and space for comfortable chair rather than antique writing desk to meet the needs of the modern IT dependant professional

We stayed in no 12 which had a lovely 4 poster bed and shower room.all nice clean facilities. We enjoyed our relaxing time. We had a meal in the rose room. Food was lovely although the waitress did manage to slop gravy down my husbands shirt accidentally ( just glad it wasn't mine ha ha) staff were pleasant and friendly, we would definitely stay againx

The staff (Older man and large blond lady) in the Pub / Bar were very rude and bossy to customers. The rest of the staff was great.

the rodgerthorpe hotel is the best hotel we have ever stayed in,the hotel is fabulous and the food mouth watering,cant wait till we can return
