Score from 176 reviews Fabulous
We were fortunate enough to be upgraded from a family room to an apartment. The accommodation was good, clean and just what we needed after a long journey from London. Many thanks to all.
breakfast was good
cold shower broken tv peeling paint horrible carpet Italian restaurant was awful
Its attached to a bigger hotel where you can use their facilities and parking. It backs onto a really big park (Roker Park) which was great for my son. It also is on the sea front so again great for my little one. Within 1 mile of a couple of Metro stations.
Not much really. It had everything I needed for the price paid.
Staff the best
Booked for a wedding which was at the Roker Hotel next door, not realising that the lodge belongs to the hotel as well. When we got there there had been an admin error meaning the lodge was overbooked, as a result we got upgraded into the roker hotel itself for nothing, so overall value for money wise we saved about £30-£40 and still got to stay in the main hotel. Very happy overall
Rooms are spacious enough but a little outdated, couldn't sleep as was very stuffy.
the view from the parking lot and the restaurant, the size of the beds and the nice staff.
The room was not spotless wrt cleanliness, and the sound isolation was not great. Breakfast was ok, but a bit "swimming with fat".
Sea view - good food - close to amenities - good base for our travels around the area - clean towels every day
Bathroom could have been a little bigger
Breakfast outstanding, view, very courteous staff.
Creaky floor boards, had to walk outside in rain to get to breakfast room.
had fab room with view last time we stayed so were disappointed to be in back room. Room needs double glazing as was lot of noise from nearby houses and floorboards n room above 202 creaked terribly each time someone moved leading to disturbed sleep
Location is excellent for runs on the beach and beautiful views at breakfast.
The fact it is an older building and some rooms require dragging suitcases up and down several flights of stairs
The best breakfast
Roker Lodge was a clean friendly hotel our stay there was good the breakfast was excellent will recommend to all our friends.
really good was upgraded for free which was nice. all staff were great and room was nice. spent all evening in bar and hotel really good night.
plenty of choice for breakfast room clean staff very freindly
rooms a bit small but very compact and some rooms do not have en suite which we were not told about no hair dryer either
Nice room, excellent breakfast
Far to expensive £110 for standard b&b for 1 night need to lower, door kept sticking
The view from the room, the breakfast and the young girl on reception from The Nook in Shields had a fantastically useful knowledge of local bus services
No TV signal and shower only worked on very hot - very minor problems though
Location sea front (shame it rained but thats British summer for you) good cooked breakfast
No aircon in room was red hot fan in window bring air in wires were cut off and location of room at the back hotel view of back yard
Nothing about the Roker Lodge. The only good bit was that when we complained we were upgraded to a nice room in the main Best Western Hotel. This room was much better, breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was tiny. The corridor smelled of smoking. On opening the window it nearly fell off the wall. On opening the blind it did fall off the wall. The bathroom door didn't shut properly. The toilet roll holder had fallen off the wall and was left on the floor. The room was dirty. The decor was very tired. All in all it was an awful room and we were not prepared to spend 10 minutes there let alone a whole night!
we will be back next year may book out the whole lodge building staff were fantastic especially around my disabled friend (wheelchair) special thanks the heather for all the trouble we put her through whilst sorting out rooms over phone excellent service
bad television room too small
Location and staff
ONLY THE LOCATION AND FRIENDLY CLEANERS
BEDROOM SO SMALL YOU HAD TO WALK ROUND THE BED SIDEWAYS. BATHROOM AND DECOR VERY TIRED LOOKING. TV THING FROM THE PAST . WOULD I GO BACK. NO
The location. Next door to a bar. The price
The TV's constant humming noise. Some of the furniture is so chipped it should be served with fish.
The housekeeping lady with blonde hair "can't remember name but her daughter lives in Barmston Washington". Very nice and made our stay that little better by putting extra Sweets in the room for my 6 year old daughter. The floor manager/duty manager of resturaunt at breakfast asked the chef to make my 6 year old daughter pancakes as thats what she fancied but they weren't on the menu. Result the guy came up trumps. Quality service
The fact I had to pay £20 for a dvd player as the room only had a tv and a digi box "with terrible signal" my daughter brought along a load of dvds to watch and was disappointed the first night that she couldn't watch them. I told the Ethnic guy on the reception about the lack of dvd player in the room to get a response of "are you in the lodge?" Yes "ooh even the rooms in the main hotel don't have dvd players" I said well for £80 a night I expected a little better. He said "thats cheap" I felt like a 2nd class citizen and basically because I booked the lodge we should of just expected 2nd class treatment.
The view and location, breakfast good.
very uncomfortable bed. room a bit smelly
