Roker Lodge  

Close to the beach and the Italian restaurant was excellent

Nothing this stay, have stayed twice before and it was okay for the money. However I requested an iron and was asured there was one in my room, 4 times when I did get one it wasn't working ,I needed to iron my outfit for the wedding. No hot water for a shower to freshen up before the wedding, found a dirty stiff sock in my bed not mine, a hair in my cold breakfast and the tv reception was shocking.

it was value for money but next time i would maybe stop in the hotel rather than the lodge x

I had to come to Sunderland to attend a family funeral. Roker Hotel was only about 5 minutes away from the family home. The Italian restaurant was very good.

I was confused as to the difference between Roker Lodge and Roker Hotel. I booked to stay at Roker Lodge and only discovered that it was also Roker Hotel, despite having what appeared to be its own entrance. I did not enjoy the noise from a disco during the evening of Friday 30th. Can anything be done about the passageway carpet before someone breaks their neck?

Location and facilities in the Roker Hotel. Staff assisted in both rooms being changed due to blocked toilet and heating controls broken.

Lodge was unbearably hot. Both rooms were changed due to faults. Reception staff were over familiar- joking about my son in laws family name which I found offensive. Breakfast buffet was poor- reception staffs attitude was defensive.

Staff were very pleasant though and location excellent for what we had planned.

The shower was not very good, and the pole it was attached to was broken. The tv was appalling - bad picture, not digital etc. Luckily we only needed one bed, there were four in the room - but one was broken. Decor in the room and bathroom, was tired looking and drab.

Breakfast very poor choice. Are grey scambled eggs mashed with bits of chewy smoked salmon a Geordie delicacy? One of the worst breakfasts I have eaten Bed springs very obvious no light in bathroom and poor shower Ripped wallpaper No real ale

Staff friendly service, meals good and location.

Room was really dusty pillows were hard there was damp patches on the ceiling and had to pull the bottom of the wardrobe door to open as there was no key

The staff were very helpful. We were originally booked into the Lodge and when we saw our room decided to upgrade. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant about the whole thing. Our room in the main hotel was much nicer.

We didn't like our original room in the Lodge ... really cheap, old, tatty ... while we wanted a reasonably cheap weekend, we didn't want that room!

Location only

Regretably the Roker Lodge is extremely run down and needs a total over haul. We had two rooms booked between two couples, one had a sea view and was a good sized room, however very run down, and the other a double room on the top floor, very small, no mirror next to power point to do hair/make up, bed extremely uncomfortable, so much that we had no sleep. Both rooms were priced the same. Unfortunately we would never stay there again and would not recommend to anyone.

Broken light switch over bed & bathroom mirror, no sink plug, broken Shower Head Holder, WiFi only available in Best Western public areas next door. Slow service for Dinner in Thai Restaurant & Breakfast in Best Western next door.
