I did not like that I found dirty tissue's in the draw's of my room and that the curtains was falling off the rail the shower did not work there for I could not shower the breakfast was very poor and cold there was dust on the skirting boards and I could not lock my door from the inside of the room which made me feel very uncomfortable I would never stay at this hotel again and I would never recommend it to any one the rooms was small could not move around them .

The location of the hotel as it was near the plesure beach . The lack of comunication between the staff ,my brother in law took us and booked himself a room for the first night, he was quoted one price and when he arrived the young girls on front desk gave him another price and they had the wrong details for him. Also we were given different breakfast times on 3 different occasions ranging from 9.30-10.30 on day one,8.30-10.15 Day two and then the owner told me (well he had an argument with me) that we were not to be late for breakfast as we would nt be served and when I explained that we were told breakfast was served between those times he went completly ballistic ,and told me that he was the ruler and was in charge and what he says goes....i was sooo cross by the way I was spoken to ,he said im arguing and im wrong and hes right and his word is final.

The two guys who run this place are fantastically friendly and made you feel very welcome. The bed was extremely comfy though the room was small for one night it was adequate. Breakfast was served speedily and the food was very tasty. I would recommen this hotel for a weekend break. Why anyone would want to actually come to blackpool for longer is beyond me , its a dump full of overweight scruffy people

location the facilities were dreadful. The en-suite room measured 42 inches square. The water pressure was almost non existant The gap between the 2 single beds was 12 inches. No handtowels in the bathroom. The noise from other guests through the night was uncontrolled. My 10 yr old son son found old dirty underwear at the end of his bed.My "twin room" was literally a single room with 2 beds crammed together.Had to wait 15 mins downstairs for a breakfast table to become available(brekky served only from 0830-0915) When i mentioned this to the hotelier i was told "what do you expect for the price?"- to which i replied "running water, cleanliness and enough room to swing the family cat"

Although the decor seemed a little outdated at first, after a while I realised how comfy it was. The bed was so unbelievably soft and the shower worked far better than I would have guessed from its appearance. Also the location was brilliant, 5 minutes walk from the station, 5/10 minutes walk to south pier. And the owners were very hospitable. Although not the hotels' actual fault - On my second night (sat/sun) the rooms either side of me were booked out by a large party and besides the fact that the walls are thin anyway, at 3am this group came back drunk and had a massive (I mean massive) fight in the corridor - they were screaming and falling over and it actually terrified me. Because of their drunkeness they kept trying to get into my room and as I was travelling alone I found it rather scary. And when I tried to call the hotel reception no one picked up. Fortunately the police did turn up swiftly but it was a rather distressing incident that could have been dealt with faster.

Read some terrible reviews about this hotel before we travelled and was quite worried. No reason to worry at all, owners were very friendly and helpful, room was clean and adequate for what we needed and breakfast was great. Think some people moan just for the sake of it, nothing wrong with this hotel for the price you pay at all. Would definately go again.

Their claim that there were parking spaces was not the case on our arrival and the guests were often parked three deep leaving many trapped by others. Our room was small (but adequate) but the key point is that it was the dirtiest we have ever stayed in. Mirrors were filthy, there was 'gunge' on the bedside table, bathroom sink had not been cleaned along with the bath (which we avoided) along with hairs in the bed. Other irritants such as no coffee or spoon and dirty teacups which my wife had to wash simply added to the experience along with the damp patches on the walls. We left after just one of our due two night stay.

On arrival the hotel was locked up and in complete darkness. When somebody finally arrived to let us in the first room we were shown to was tiny and dark. After paying extra money we were given a bigger sea view room. It was freezing in the room and when we complained we were told that was because it was facing the sea.We complained again as it was evident that the central heating was not working correctly We were brought a heater that after running for 24 hours did eventually warm the room. This was the last time we saw the owner. The room was dirty and had not had a proper clean in quite some time. The following morning we went down for our full english breakfast that consisted of a plate of cold bacon ( 2 rashers because they had no sausage ) beans and an egg. We were sat shivering in the dining room and even the cup of tea could not warm us at that was cold. As we were the only guests they did not open the bar or the games room. We also discovered that we had been locked overnight in the hotel without any 24 hour security so do not know what would have happened had there been a fire. This totally ruined our break and we did leave a couple of days early.

the location was great 5 mins from family, and in the summer would be a fantastic loication for amusements and beach the room was a little small for 2, ideally it would have been a good size for a single occupant, the only window looked out on other windows from the next building. the room was clean on the surface, but there was dirt and bits under beds and the towels were small ones and not too clean, glad we took our own but for the price we paid it did us for 1 night.

The breakfast was really nice, which was a surprise. The beds were really cosy and the room was clean. The fact it was close to the Please Beach Amusement Park was a bonus. One of the light bulbs had gone in the mains light (couldn't be bothered to report it) but the other lights were working and provided plenty of light. There was only one bin in the bathroom. One in the main room would have been nice. The car parking outside wasn't great and you had to ask for a packing space that would have prevented a car blocking you in. In fact, my brothers car recieved a dent while someone was reversing out, although that was because he was reversing out too fast.

The staff were all very friendly we had a room with a sea view which was really a full bay window having stayed in other hotels saying sea view and having a port hole. Although hotel probably could do with a little updating it was clean and homely, breakfast very nice.

“My wife and myself really enjoyed our short stay at the Charlton hotel. We were made to feel welcome, our room with a sea view was excellent. We thought breakfast at 9.30am would be a little late but this was not the case, we had a lie in after rather late night and were still out by 10.15am. we will return soon and not leave it another 20 years before we visit Blackpool again.” John, Newcastle-under-lyme |
