We felt as if we were with friends who enjoyed our company
All staff a credit. Food was excellent. Public areas are all lovely and very well done. The value for money was excellent with lots of detail and extras in the bedrooms which were nice touches
Time out from a busy life in a warm and friendly location and sitting by a fire!
The staff were very attentive though the hotel was quiet, so can only judge on that. Roaring fires and sherry in room all very nice too. Enjoyed stay a lot.
Dinner was good but drink and food a little overpriced
Staff and open fires. So comfortable
Felt food was a little over priced.
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed. Booked for the night after proposing to my girlfriend on Ben A'an. Couldn't have chosen a better setting. Staff were excellent and helped with setting up flowers and champagne for our arrival. The suite we stayed in had everything you could hope for and even turned out the Beatles had stayed in the same room which was a cool surprise.
Idyllic Setting - Wonderful room with Spa Bath
No alternative to 4 Course Gourmet Meal - Ended up at local pub
Loved the calm and peace that oused from this establishment. Comfortable lounges and seated areas. Roaring logfires to retire to. Efficient and attentive but unobtrusive staff. Quality food with every effort to meet requirements and tastes
staff/service/cleanliness/location all of high standard
prices OTT!!! - in respect of evening meal and ay bar.
Room was huge and very comfortable. Staff were friendly and made sure we had a relaxing break away! Scenery was beautiful and it's a stones throw away from the Main Street. Dinner was sensational and well worth the money! Absolute heaven.
Wish I could've stayed longer!
Peacefulness Luxury Relaxation
Lack of music - some background, peaceful music in public areas would be nice
Food was excellent
Quaint atmosphere about the place. It is an older building, but with a lot of character. Shower room was also very well presented. We got a good room rate as we booked last minute. Staff were friendly and helpful, so cannot fault it.
We never dined here, as we felt the menu was a little over priced at £55 per head for a 4 course meal, then wine costs on top. I am sure the food was lovely, but it was just a little bit out of our scope. A menu with a range of different foods would have been good, and gave people the option to maybe only go for one or two courses. Room costs at full price, again, very expensive and overpriced I would say for what it is.
Ideal for a chill out relaxing stay
quirky set back hotel and the evening meal and service was fantastic
The hotel is beautifully appointed, tastefully decorated with several lounge areas, two with open fires and a very relaxing ambience.
Whilst the food was of a high standard both menus on offer were eye wateringly expensive and both elaborate. Flexibility in this area would have been welcome.
A wonderful experience!
The old fashioned service, the atmosphere of the hotel, the superb food, the gardens.
Location Excellent restaurant welcoming, friendly staff
small room Cable TV didn't work (big storms across Scotland that day)
Travelled mid October. Lovely cosy feel to the place. Very warm rooms. Open fires Pretty grounds to walk around.
No conditioner in bathroom.
The service was old school and made you feel special, we ended up here after a busy day and totally relaxed sitting in the drawing room, watching the river. Location is perfect with a wee wander round the local village adding to the experience. The food was second to none definitely worthy of its reputation and will be back. We were in the sundial room and I had the best sleep in a hotel for ages.
Quiet area Nice gardens and river frontage Comfortable bed Good breakfast freshly cooked although the hotel was very quiet
Lack of staff tried to get an evening drink on 2 nights no one around Waited for room key after day out given by a handy man! Room exceptionaly hot no thermostat to turn down windows could not be opened as a ground floor room and nothing to stop an intruder gaining entry Underfloor heating in bathroom not working w Fruit appeared on last day No bathrobes Food in restaurant very overpriced pigs head starter £18
The breakfast and dinner were amazing. The location was great - and so quiet even though just off the main road. The staff were really helpful.
We paid £420 for two nights B&B (it was during the Ryder Cup) - but the room (Lord Esher) was tiny - barely enough room for two people and one morning they forgot our breakfast completely - so a fabulous hotel and location but pricey.!!
We liked: The library, tea rooms and restaurant. Our bedroom suite had a wonderful jacuzzi. The staff were excellent, organising fishing trip with half days notice. Head of staff, was maticulous to all our needs.
