First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening. Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories. we were down for a Bridge Congress so not involved with sightseeing. We walked in to Maindee for a meal on Sat evening, expecting a better selection than we found....but an interesting Caribbean Restaurant ( a bit more like a cafe really) but the food was OK and freshly prepared and the price was reasonable

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding...
There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.

There are many places to eat in Newport, there is also lots of shops and local bars with live music. It is close to Newport football stadium. It also has a little castle near the train station. I recommend Tredegar house in Duffryn that is worth a visit ,nice big park,lake,shops,cafe,great for all ages,interesting house,Carleon is a very nice place to visit ,nice little shops,pubs and cafe,The priory is worth a visit they cook lovely fish.

It also has a good choice of bar food as well as a great selection of hot and cold food for breakfast. Nice facilities, and the added extra is you also get to use the facilities in the Celtic Manor Nice outside space next to the bar area. Lovely shower and wardrobe space. Room was big with plenty of storage.. The hotel was positioned well for good road links to get around .

We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the Bull Inn, which was very noisy but it was a holiday and the weather was amazingly warm so there were lots of people there. The hotel and staff were great. Our only disappointment was with the breakfast. The Spanish influence ruined the food and they should offer local produce to enhance the stay as we were in Wales after all. If the breakfast had been more traditional we would have rated our stay perfect.

We looked in Newport as it wasn’t too far. The location of this hotel is fab as just over the road from the train station and in the town. When we went up to the room it was clean and comfy. The staff were lovely and so was the food. If we come to Newport again I would definitely stay again!

It worked out cheaper for us and 2 friends than a hotel and we definitely will stay again when we are in the area next.
