Location, ambiance, cleanliness and price all excellent.
Bruce treats every guest as his VIP. He prepares breakfast for you, he carries luggages for you, and even more he gives surprise for you.
Very good host- made you feel very welcome. Informative about areas to visit and plenty of leaflets to help. Continental breakfast good and waffles very nice- sweet but a nice treat for walking into the centre.
Bruce revels in helping everyone have a fab holiday. very knowledgeable on local sights and attractions. different to have waffles for breakfast but works well here!
shame extra toiletries were tesco value! but thats minor gripe!!
Homemade Alaskan waffles for breakfast,
The waffles! The hospitality of the host.
Comfortable clean bed, and quiet location but near enough to entertainment. Bruce was very attentive and thoughtful of his guests. We enjoyed our stay at Romley House. Carol & Stephen - Lancashire
Romley Guest House is walking distance from the old, walled city of York. It's in a cute area of York. Bruce spoke English that we could understand. Proprietor is very friendly, neighbors are friendly, he encourages guests to be friendly, cleaning lady is friendly. Bruce really likes York and enjoys being host to guests.
The instant hot water heater for the shower was a bit tricky. There was no lift, but Bruce helped carry up our luggage.
Bruce was a great host, his manner both warm and welcoming, would recommend this establishment to others.
bruce was lovely and the waffles were very nice. He needs to be up on his staff re cleaning the bedroom. Would visit again as bruce made us feel very welcome.
the bed was never made and the waste bin not emptied. Bathroom floor wasn't cleaned.
The owner Bruce was very welcoming and a lovely host. The location was great for exploring York. Very good value for money.
Pleasantly surprised to find an American running an English B&B. Bruce goes out of his way to be helpful and accommodating. His Alaskan waffles with a photo at breakfast is a novel touch. Meeting us at the door with a parking permit is also very welcome.
Pleasantly! Very nice location, in a nice area! Very friendly, easy-going owner who liked to talk to their guests! We will gladly return!
great host & breakfast
room is bit hot, no air conditioning and of relatively small size
The owner was very helpful in arranging for our late arrival and early departure. He was a welcoming host and the food and facilities were excellent.
Hospitality, american waffles, and Bruce was a fabulous host who would do all he could for you. Room and breakfast were very good and would highly recommend there b&b to friends and would use again
The gentleman who ran the B&B was brilliant, he was friendly, happy, wonderfully entertaining. The room was spotless, clean sheets and towels, plenty of hot water, hair dryer accessible as well as clean bath robes for each of us. Breakfast was lovely,
Bruce was very friendly & helpful. He gave us great advice on the tourist attractions in York. His waffles are amazing(very different) but nice. Great stay
Fantastic and extremely helpful host
Bruce made the stay feel less like a hotel and more like staying with friends or family. The breakfast was good and the overall stay was brilliant!
we were very happy with everything. Room was very comfortable and clean. Bruce was a wonderful host who was very friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble
The host was wonderful, and would consider staying their again
The location was perfect for us - on a quiet, pretty street just a short walk to town. Our room was large and very comfortable, great bed, shower, hair dryer, TV, tea and coffee etc. Bruce had been very helpful from the first call we made to explain we'd arrive late on the Friday. He did everything he could to make us feel welcome. Breakfast was wonderful - instead of a fry up there was a full selection of breads, crumpets, cereal, toast, cold meat, cheese and hard boiled eggs, lovely coffee, fresh fruit and yoghurts and the famous waffles more than set us up for our day in York. Even though we know York quite well he suggested a few things to do that we may not have done. To top it off he really saved the day when our taxi back from town on the last day to collect our bags was 20 minutes late with no explanation (since had an apology from 659Taxis but I'm not sure I would recommend them if you have to be somewhere urgent) he drove our luggage to the station so we made our train. Another visit is already being planned! Thanks Bruce.
Amazing waffles and relly worth to live when travel to York!
Bruce was an absolute pleasure and was there to greet us and no task seemed to much for him and he was a humble and gracious host
