The spa facilities and service was very good.

The location with the traffic noise and I thought the afternoon tea could have been improved with less "packet" style cakes. Our beds were very squeaky which woke us during the night.

Food was high quality. Service was polite and prompt. Spa was lovely and was impressed with the amount of facilities on offer to hotel guests. The grounds are beautiful.

Rooms were way too warm and could not open the window for the noise of the nearby motorway was too loud to enable us to sleep with it open.

Family room a bit basic, the spa was fully booked so would recommend booking before you go!

How clean and modern the spa facilities were, the staff at the spa were very helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much for them. Treatments were great. The meal in the restaurant was good value for money. Hotel staff helpful.

We had to pay cash for our treatments, it couldn't be added to our hotel room. Our room had no hair dryer and it was difficult to contact reception, when we did we had to go into another room which meant going outside in the freezing cold to use a hair dryer which was attached to the wall. We arrived at the spa at 2.05 and could not have lunch, instead we had to have afternoon tea, the sandwiches were dry, so why we couldn't have a sandwich from the lunch menu is beyond me. There were holes in the quilt on the double bed in our room

The staff were great and very friendly. The food is fantastic and cooked to order; very nice. The hotel itself is well appointed and the grounds well looked after.

The door to the bathroom in our room wouldn't close; carpenter had a bad day. Also the water supply was constantly yellow/dirty when running but this didn't affect the shower; only bathroom tap.

The scenery

The poor service and untrained staff. I had my suitcase misplaced at the airport on my arrival, I have called 3 times the hotel to make sure they will be able to take it on my behalf. I even asked them to write a note to make sure everyone at reception will know about it. It was very important as inside was my bridesmaid goan and the bridal underskirt for my best friend. Well the suitcase arrived but when I called they've told me twice that no one has delivered a suitcase.. Well the suitcase was in the bridal shop!!! This is appaling I could have had all our stuff the day before the wedding... Not even an apology. They just said why the carrier delivered it to the shop??? Well it is at the same venue and the shop had call reception they had a suitcase but none was bothered.

Beautiful setting, comfortable room, friendly staff, good food, nice decor, convenient location.

Room not as spacious as photos implied, never the less was adequate if highly priced for a room of that size (setting notwithstanding). There was a wedding event on the day which was unexpected and quite distracting as the staff and facilities were geared toward that rather than general visitors. Spa facilities were closed from 4pm on Sunday which was disappointing. Could hear m5 traffic from the room so had to keep windows closed despite the balcony!

Just would be nice to have toilet roll in the bathroom:-) and normally if it is a venue the guests have some kind of discount which was refused in our case..which was dissapointment :-(

The Spa and staff were exemplerary

We were really disappointed with the breakfast - not what we expected from such al lovely hotel. The eggs were not cooked (poached) and the juice and coffee were a bit grim. Shame as we loved everything else.

This hotel clearly does not cater for the business person, bar area was more like a posh doctors waiting room, no draught beer, reception was locked at 7.10am! No-one on reception till 8am! Room was nicely decorated, but no desk on which to work, just a small drawer unit by the window which was too low, and bathroom was so small, my knees were hitting the door! Only one bottle of red wine to choose from if you just wanted a glass of wine with your dinner

i felt important to the staff but also relaxed. the staff were efficient helpful and friendly. It was easy to enjoy myself and get what I needed.the facilities were excellent.

it is a long walk from the car park to reception and the rooms.

The hotel is more like an expensive b+B. We paid £125.00 a room and you dont get a fresh cooked breakfast. They just leave the bacon and eggs all pre-cooked warming up under a food warmer so not very appetizing. Staff dont come to your table to ask you what you would like for your breakfast. The cold selection is very poor, a few stale pastries some tin fruit and yoghurt pots and cereal packets. Coffee is also pre-made so you have to serve yourself. When we did see a member of staff we had to ask twice if we could get some toast as we were not asked if we would like anything when we sat down. We ate dinner in the evening at the hotel and the food choice is no more interesting than basic pub food, scampi and chips, burger and chips, steak and chips. Guests at the hotel are able to use the spa included in their room rate, but when I made a booking to use the spa I was told that it was very busy so we didnt get to use it at all as we were only there for on night.

The gardens and the breakfast

The quality of the room, poor cleanliness, badly fitting doors , the bathroom door would not close at all,fan in bathroom would not work badly stained carpet, all double glazing needed replacing it was full of condensation. The noise from the M5 was awful . The curtains were flimsy and hanging down . We are now aware the hotel caters mainly for weddings and must rely on guests being worse for wear when they got to the room.

We booked a room with bathroom but it had no bath ,surely it should have been described as en-suite! Our room was in a newly built annex but the soundproofing was well below acceptable levels,other guests could quite easily be heard walking about. When we stayed there had been a wedding,this meant that breakfast was very busy and the dining room was not big enough to cope. It had dirty scratched tables with no table cloths.

A very pleasant hotel, staff friendly, especially the morning waiter, very pleasant, lovely grounds, comfortable room, food good.

The bar area, was not very cosy, a very small bar and the seating area more like a dentists waiting room.

The gardens are really lovely. the rooms were nice, and lovely and clean. the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful,

there is a small area to sit in the evening with a bar, but we had to be out for 11pm, we didn't realise this, so ended up having to rush our drinks, and all go back to our separate rooms :(
