Closeness to the M5 motorway
No bottled water in rooms, only glasses? for what ! Breakfast very poor, everything self service, and only one member of staff in the breakfast room, for over 100 guests. for the price paid you would expect at least a pot of tea/coffee to be bought to your table along with toast. Very expensive for that part of the country, with no service.
Warm Friendly welcome, excellent value for money
Hydro spa shut at 6!!
The breakfast was good and the staff were nice
It's geared up for weddings rather than people using it as a hotel. I booked because I thought there was a pool that the children could swim in. However they have to 16 so as a family we were unable to make use of any facilities.
We loved the grounds, the buildings and especially our bedroom. We loved the helpfulness of the staff and their attitude towards children.
I didn't like the fact that there was no leisure facilities for my ten year old grandson. I had hoped that we could swim in the mornings.
Not suitable for young children. Breakfast more 1star than 4star.
Staff were friendly and helpful Grounds were great. Clean
After a long road journey to stop at Rookery was bliss, we were able to use the facilities which were superb
Nothing everything was fantastic !
The staff and gardens are very good and nice
No elevator from the ground floor Access stairs very steep and treads only about
STAFF WERE very friendly especially Tracy
lackof lighting towards room 15 dangerous at night
The suite Spa bath Breakfast Peace and quiet Beautiful gardens
Z bed Spa facility (ie the pool) not available to children Staff at breakfast were hovering
Beautiful grounds and attentive service. Great venue for a wedding- it was a lovely day. Family room was spacious and very clean. Meals were well presented and lots of choice at breakfast.
Not all outdoor lighting was switched on and pathway to our room at the end of the evening was in darkness.
Nice hotel and gardens. Friendly staff.
Not a lot to do for under 16's. We have 2 teenagers both under 16 but they liked the tennis court. Pool facility for younger teens would have made the stay better for us. Traffic noise from motorway in gardens but couldn't hear it in the room.
Room was very nice in old building. Quite large room with balcony overlooking lovely gardens
Noise from M5 which was literally less than 100m from my room. Staff at reception were not great. Arrived early and after being told that check-in wasn't for another hour it eventually turned out that in fact my room was available...the receptionist just couldn't bother to check! Bed was not that comfortable. Breakfast a bit basic but OK.
It was a little walk from car park to bedrooms and no one there to porter cases etc, also the restaurant was a walk away, food and service only fair. No good if raining you would get wet walking between places. I would not stay again.
Lovely grounds and facilities.
Getting taxi,s was a nightmare.
very beautiful house if you stayed in it,grounds lovely, but details of place on line are very misleading .make sure if you book this hotel, you get what you ask for,not worth £95.a night .
Very disappointed ,thought we were staying in the manor house, only to find that we were in a room in a stable block, with a view looking onto a tent, people staying in the room above.you could hear every sound ,floorboards creaked all night, had no sleep, bed very uncomfortable room so small.not worth the money.would not go back.
Good location, clean and good food
TV didnot work, no or disturbed signal most of the time, did not have Wii Fii signal in the room, both of which were a major concern especially when staying in family room with children. Nine of the tables the drawers working well cannot open/ use the draws.
everything else all good.
ceiling needed painting
Staff were extremely helpful and customer focused. The free WIFI actually worked! Spa was a truly relaxing environment. Stunning Wedding venue with picture-perfect gardens/lake and waterfall Everything/everywhere was clean and well maintained. The breakfast sausages, best we've ever tasted!
Remote location, not much within reasonable walking distance. Predominantly set up for functions.
The gardens were well Kept and lovely to walk round. The setting was realy outstanding.
The dining room staff .. The barman was friendly.
Food was exellent
The Room was to small and was not in the grand building that the web site indicated.
A great place to unwind the out door jacuzzi is lovely to very good spa lovely staff!
The lack of motivation and knowledge of the staff. The spa's facilities were few and far between and what there was didn't work. Drinks expensive, bed and outside chairs were a torture.
Gardens, which were amazing, buildings, function rooms. The wwedding ran well.
Breakfast was probably the worst experienced in any hotel we've visited. Chicken terrine from the party was inedible. Bars were expensive and served mediocre products. Staff in general were very inexperienced and gave poor excuses when confronted. No brown bread for toast, grey scrambled eggs, cold mushrooms, bacon that had been cooked and kept warm for what seemed like hours. Sausage inedible.
Location as above, the setting was beautiful
We arrived there after a long drive on Saturday for a wedding on Sunday, the staff didnt seem to know what was happening - i.e. as there was a wedding that day, where food restaurant was? - as directions to it they gave, were wrong. When we eventually got there 10 minutes later it was 2 minutes past 2 and we were told that the restaurant was now closed. But the waitress said she would speak to chef. They were not warm and friendly. They said they would then do us a cheese melt so we sat down but then came back and said it would be at least 30 minutes which was no good for me, as I was going to golf. My wife stayed and did get served some time after. When I got back, the electrics in our room were not working, so I went to reception(this was about 7pm) but it was closed. I asked(think it was a manager) to come and have a look but they couldnt fix it, saying they would sort something out. We were still waiting the next day for it to be fixed and eventually referred to a nice blond haired lady at breakfast who did swap our room and sort things out for us and was very good. The original room was not cleaned properly as the mirror had not been cleaned, although this is being picky, but it isnt a cheap hotel and you really would expect more. Overall though a very poor experience.
