Room was nice with a small terrace and bed was really comfortable.
The pictures do not represent at all how the hotel is like. From ouside it looks like a motel instead of a 4 start spa hotel. The Spa is really small and doesn't offer great variety. Moreover the Spa service must to be pre- booked 72 hours before the use and service finishes really early in the day (around 5pm on Saturdays).
Friendly staff, room was clean, but for that kind of money, quit small. Dinner and Breakfast was excellent and we received good service.
The picture of this hotel was misleading, in fact we were not even aloud in this building. also it was overpriced, and from the reception area we had been directed by receptionist to drive to our room. It was in the dark a 30 minutes wild goose chase to find our room, which was looked at the time, which gave as another 10 minutes delay to get in the room, we had to pass through a kitchen and lounge area, to finally relax.
We enoyed our stay very much but there was problem with the spar bath as it would not empty and also we arrived at breakfast one morning at 9.55 and was told it was finished but we could be squeezed in and made to feel quite uncomfortable, blonde waitress, dark haired waitress very attentive, a wedding was taking place during our visit and their needs came before ours, we were not allowed to have a drink in the bar so had room service, grounds and room absolutely lovely
Very nicely laid out and bedrooms good. Beautiful day and gardens pretty. Event well organised.
Rather too far out spent a lot of time travelling to and from Bristol. However that was not the fault of the venue.
Standard of food & service was excellent with a really good wine list & knowledgable waiter. We ate there both nights of our stay & highly recommend it. Spa facilities were again excellent & staff helpful & friendly. We stayed in a room in the coach house & it was clean & bed very comfy.
You have no doubt it's a wedding venue - not a bad thing though! Motorway noise was a slight distraction from our afternoon tea on the lawn (very pretty enclosed landscaped garden) but again didn't spoil our stay.
close to motorway.but quiet Staff good
Reasonable value for money. Comfortable and quiet.
Took a while to get reception to answer the in-house phone.
Gardens were lovely but a worry with the lake and children.
Attending my niece's wedding so stayed the night. She has her own issues. We were given a room that had not been cleaned. On complaining given an 'upgrade' to small room at top of house with en-suite in 'cupboard'. How a tall person would manage in there I don't know! No shower gel. Mediocre do-it-yourself breakfast.
Closeness to the M5 motorway
No bottled water in rooms, only glasses? for what ! Breakfast very poor, everything self service, and only one member of staff in the breakfast room, for over 100 guests. for the price paid you would expect at least a pot of tea/coffee to be bought to your table along with toast. Very expensive for that part of the country, with no service.
Warm Friendly welcome, excellent value for money
Hydro spa shut at 6!!
The breakfast was good and the staff were nice
It's geared up for weddings rather than people using it as a hotel. I booked because I thought there was a pool that the children could swim in. However they have to 16 so as a family we were unable to make use of any facilities.
We loved the grounds, the buildings and especially our bedroom. We loved the helpfulness of the staff and their attitude towards children.
I didn't like the fact that there was no leisure facilities for my ten year old grandson. I had hoped that we could swim in the mornings.
Not suitable for young children. Breakfast more 1star than 4star.
Staff were friendly and helpful Grounds were great. Clean
After a long road journey to stop at Rookery was bliss, we were able to use the facilities which were superb
Nothing everything was fantastic !
Breakfast - short of staff one person seemed to be doing everything, there was another waitress but she was useless, more interested in her appearance than being helpful. This was every morning. Piano - in restaurant which kids were able to mess about on, none of their parents seemed interested in controlling their children. Very Poor. Spa facilities - We could not use the spa facilities, as they had too many people booked in from outside. I'm not talking about gaining any treatments just the Spa Facilities. As a resident of the hotel, staying for two nights. I would expect to be able to use the Spa Facilities. Unable to gain any appointments despite asking upon arrival and being flexible. Do not advertise as a spa hotel if your residents are unable to use the spa facilities!
The staff and gardens are very good and nice
No elevator from the ground floor Access stairs very steep and treads only about
STAFF WERE very friendly especially Tracy
lackof lighting towards room 15 dangerous at night
The location of this hotel was amazing, very relaxing and tucked out the way. The staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the spa facilities. Spacious parking area. The China suite was a decent size.
The bed was awful, every time you moved it creaked. The pillows were again awful and a waste of time. The mattress was hard. The shower door didn't shut properly. The paint work in the bathroom and bedroom needs attention.
The suite Spa bath Breakfast Peace and quiet Beautiful gardens
Z bed Spa facility (ie the pool) not available to children Staff at breakfast were hovering
Beautiful grounds and attentive service. Great venue for a wedding- it was a lovely day. Family room was spacious and very clean. Meals were well presented and lots of choice at breakfast.
Not all outdoor lighting was switched on and pathway to our room at the end of the evening was in darkness.
Nice hotel and gardens. Friendly staff.
Not a lot to do for under 16's. We have 2 teenagers both under 16 but they liked the tennis court. Pool facility for younger teens would have made the stay better for us. Traffic noise from motorway in gardens but couldn't hear it in the room.
Room was very nice in old building. Quite large room with balcony overlooking lovely gardens
Noise from M5 which was literally less than 100m from my room. Staff at reception were not great. Arrived early and after being told that check-in wasn't for another hour it eventually turned out that in fact my room was available...the receptionist just couldn't bother to check! Bed was not that comfortable. Breakfast a bit basic but OK.
It was a little walk from car park to bedrooms and no one there to porter cases etc, also the restaurant was a walk away, food and service only fair. No good if raining you would get wet walking between places. I would not stay again.
Lovely grounds and facilities.
Getting taxi,s was a nightmare.
