The spa was lovely, & if we would of got to stay where we believed to have booked then the gardens are a pleasure.
The fact that we booked into the manor, where at no point were there any mention that actually we would be staying in a glorified travel lodge a long distance from the manor house, but at the same cost, utterly appaling !
Beautiful grounds and building, only marred slightly by being adjacent to the M5, with constant noise from traffic. Breakfast delivered to room on time. Staff (when present) friendly.
Having booked a suite (normal price £200), was very disappointed. Decoration of room very tired. Rusty fittings in bathroom and wallpaper in bedroom stained with damp. Dressing gowns provided in poor state, with no belts. The jacuzzi bath spat out a cascade of black gunge when operated. Reception desk unmanned during the evening.
The breakfast was good. This establishment should stick to being an attractive (and clearly successful) wedding venue and conference centre and not advertise itself as a "Fine Dining" establishment or a normal hotel.
The evening meal was poor both in quality and quantity. It could not be described as "Fine Dining" when even the filet steak was not cooked according to the order. The smoked salmon starter was small, unattractive and lacked flavour. The dessert was unpalatable and the price was exorbitant for the quality of the meal! We did not appreciate having to walk outside in our coats and hats to get to the dining room, where the heating was not working properly.
Hotel didn't feel like a hotel, it felt like a wedding or conference centre.
Cold tap didnt work at all
Loved the hotel and spa, lovely location, staff very attentive and a superb place to stay. Will definitely visit again.
Nothing to dislike
Stayed as had a swimming comp in millfirkd , only 25 minutes away. Excellent service , fantastic family room ( spacious) and the hotel put out breakfast for us at 715am instead if normal 8am Sunday . Thank you !!! Will return .
We love everything about the hotel
The spa staff were really friendly and helpful, so were the bar and the reception staff. We had a lovely time and will be having our reunion there next year. Excellent value for money.
Waited a bit too long for our lunch to be served. No wifi in the bedroom.
Excellent service, friendly staff. Good facilities
family room good as privacy for adults.
Thought it had a pool as misleading info on website- so ended up feeling it was expensive as could not use the facilities in the spa with children
Room was nice with a small terrace and bed was really comfortable.
The pictures do not represent at all how the hotel is like. From ouside it looks like a motel instead of a 4 start spa hotel. The Spa is really small and doesn't offer great variety. Moreover the Spa service must to be pre- booked 72 hours before the use and service finishes really early in the day (around 5pm on Saturdays).
Friendly staff, room was clean, but for that kind of money, quit small. Dinner and Breakfast was excellent and we received good service.
The picture of this hotel was misleading, in fact we were not even aloud in this building. also it was overpriced, and from the reception area we had been directed by receptionist to drive to our room. It was in the dark a 30 minutes wild goose chase to find our room, which was looked at the time, which gave as another 10 minutes delay to get in the room, we had to pass through a kitchen and lounge area, to finally relax.
We enoyed our stay very much but there was problem with the spar bath as it would not empty and also we arrived at breakfast one morning at 9.55 and was told it was finished but we could be squeezed in and made to feel quite uncomfortable, blonde waitress, dark haired waitress very attentive, a wedding was taking place during our visit and their needs came before ours, we were not allowed to have a drink in the bar so had room service, grounds and room absolutely lovely
Very nicely laid out and bedrooms good. Beautiful day and gardens pretty. Event well organised.
Rather too far out spent a lot of time travelling to and from Bristol. However that was not the fault of the venue.
Standard of food & service was excellent with a really good wine list & knowledgable waiter. We ate there both nights of our stay & highly recommend it. Spa facilities were again excellent & staff helpful & friendly. We stayed in a room in the coach house & it was clean & bed very comfy.
You have no doubt it's a wedding venue - not a bad thing though! Motorway noise was a slight distraction from our afternoon tea on the lawn (very pretty enclosed landscaped garden) but again didn't spoil our stay.
close to motorway.but quiet Staff good
Reasonable value for money. Comfortable and quiet.
Took a while to get reception to answer the in-house phone.
Gardens were lovely but a worry with the lake and children.
Attending my niece's wedding so stayed the night. She has her own issues. We were given a room that had not been cleaned. On complaining given an 'upgrade' to small room at top of house with en-suite in 'cupboard'. How a tall person would manage in there I don't know! No shower gel. Mediocre do-it-yourself breakfast.
Closeness to the M5 motorway
No bottled water in rooms, only glasses? for what ! Breakfast very poor, everything self service, and only one member of staff in the breakfast room, for over 100 guests. for the price paid you would expect at least a pot of tea/coffee to be bought to your table along with toast. Very expensive for that part of the country, with no service.
Warm Friendly welcome, excellent value for money
Hydro spa shut at 6!!
The breakfast was good and the staff were nice
It's geared up for weddings rather than people using it as a hotel. I booked because I thought there was a pool that the children could swim in. However they have to 16 so as a family we were unable to make use of any facilities.
We loved the grounds, the buildings and especially our bedroom. We loved the helpfulness of the staff and their attitude towards children.
I didn't like the fact that there was no leisure facilities for my ten year old grandson. I had hoped that we could swim in the mornings.
Not suitable for young children. Breakfast more 1star than 4star.
