All that follows should not be taken as negatives or dislikes. Treat them more like tips to adjust your expectations appropriately, so that you can do YOUR part to make your stay more enjoyable:
1. Rooms36 is a converted 3-storey Keswick town-house with a loft. There are no lifts but the stairs are good and easy to climb. Don't bring your heaviest luggage, please. (My friend did. His fault, LoL.)
2. The 2 rooms we occupied in the loft are joined by a lockable connecting door. If you are traveling with friends or family members who are not so close, work out a signal between you as the smaller room has an en suite shower & WC but no door. (We had no trouble or red faces during our 3-day stay, so don't worry about it.)
3. The rooms in a loft are understandably unique in shape and dimension, with angled and low ceilings. Some presence of mind is required to avoid getting a bump on head. (Again, my wife, daughter and I stayed there 3 days with jet-lag and 7-hr time differences, we did not get one bump. Instead, we got lots of laughter and fun reminding each other of the ceiling, and enjoyed the unique experience of staying in a well appointed loft room.)
4. The 6-7 car parking lots in front of Rooms36 and 2 other adjoining B&Bs filled up fairly easily when we were there. But this is no big deal as there are plenty of places nearby one can park. (Something I did. It was not a bother to me eventually.)
From our arrival till our departure, we like our experience in Rooms36. The hosts - a couple by the names of Andy and Charlotte - are very good, efficient, responsive, warm and caring. In a word or expression, their perform a labour of love taking care of their guests and property. Their location is marvellous as it is literally the shortest walk to the famous lake and park of Keswick from Rooms36. At the same time, via an underpass we were a mere 150m from the exciting small town-centre of Keswick, how does one beat that? Even their pet sheep dog, a 2-year old border collie named Shy, was a hit with us. While she was really shy, she was friendly and happy to play an enthusiastic game of fetch with us. The rooms we occupied were very well maintained and had all we needed for a pleasant stay. The breakfasts Andy and Charlotte prepared were outstanding in terms of quality of material, pains taken to get them out right and even selection, for a guest house. My family and friends were more than satisfied with the breakfast, such a good start to the day in beautiful Keswick. We simply love it and will like to return. Take my word for it and stay there if you are still looking for a good place to bed down in this amazing district. As a frequent and careful traveller, I give Rooms36 a strong endorsement!
