Ideally located for my own business dealings and convenient to a local shopping area. An easy walk into Plymouth city centre. The small single room I had was comfortable and adequate. The breakfast options and quality was very good and staff friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. I would return to this hotel,

A good breakfast available and tea/coffee facilities in the room. There was a large guest lounge with tv and piano which was a nice place to sit in. Free wifi was available, although I didn't make use of it on this occassion. Freedom to come and go as you please, which is great when exploring a city. The rooms are not ensuite so there was a short trip down the corridor to use the toilet or shower but this didn't matter to me very much. There was never a queue to use the bathroom facilites either but did not offer as much privacy.

Landlady was incredibly rude and off hand at all times. Her husband was much better, but I saw little of him. Room was incredibly tired, with a loo en-suite that was hard to close the door on as it was so small. It smelt of the sewers throughout my stay. Bed was very uncomfortable, with a worn out mattress which offered no support. Breakfast was awful. Tasteless and served 'with attitude' by the landlady. I asked if I might have some marmalade for my toast. "It's over there", she responded, indicating the sideboard as if I was blind. Great Britain at its traditional worst. I would never stay there again and would advise nobody else to. Utterly complacent, as clearly there is an under-supply of rooms in Plymouth.

The location was ok, though it entirely depends on your purpose of stay in the city. The staff were the worst ever i've seen. Landlady was grumpy and very rude; the day I check out, it was 8:15 only, but the light in breakfast room was off already, and she did not even offer any breakfast which I was totally entitled to have. Wifi was not working, the towels are not clean (it looked grey actually). The room is dusty. Walls are thin. All and all, it is the worst ever guest house I've ever been. Would never stay again.

Hotel is in the heart of the university, so ideal if you are visiting students. We weren'T.. But was only a 20min walk into town. Lovely breakfast and friendly landlords.

We booked an en suite room. The room was quite small and the en suite consisted of a wooden box approximately 4 ft square, that held a toilet a sink and a shower. I suppose it was en suite but very poor, would not stay there again.

We had a very good stay at the guest house the owners were very hospitabale and did a fantastic fry up. The location was great and suited our needs very well. As we needed the cremyll ferry and wanted to shop in the town centre, so location was key and the Rosaland guest house is ideally situated for both. As its a 10mins walk to the town centre, the Cremyll Ferry was also close which was about a 10mins taxi ride..

For me the best was the familiar treatment of the owners, they recommended us places to go and they cook a delicious English breakfast.

The breakfast was good and the room was clean. Location: close to train station but all uphill. Grumpy landlady. En-suite bathroom had the size of a bathtub. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes to walk to the harbour.

A traditional Guest House with a friendly host family, who put themselves out to make you welcome. Breakfast was freshley cooked and adapted to suit each Guest. Should the need to stay in Plymouth arise again I will be booking at the Rosaland.

Excellent, 8.8
Score from 226 reviews
“Apart from being very good value, the reviews were very good for the hotel and that's always important. The staff were excellent - friendly and welcoming. The room although fairly basic was comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. Breakfast was good and the evening meals they are now serving were good quality and very good value. Weather whilst we were there was not great but the quality of the staff and the hotel made up for it. We will use the hotel the next time we are in Plymouth.” Christopher, Basingstoke |
