Lovely setting. Very quiet. Would not describe as luxury. First thing that put me off is the rule book in your room. I don't mind dress codes in hotel restaurants, but I think the guests need to know about it before booking!? We couldn't eat in the restaurant because we didn't have anything other than jeans and shorts ... and according to the rules, this was reason enough to be denied entry. Also, passing on the 20p delivery charge to guests for newspapers when they are already paying a lot for the room! At the room rate, you'd expect a complimentary paper. You'd also expect WiFi to work. It didn't - only in the restaurant. Basically, a bit shabby. We were in room 1. Sold as a luxury room. It was fine - until you looked closer - the shelf under the TV was hanging off the wall, pealing wall paper in the corners, and a toilet cistern that took a long and NOISY amount of time to refil. This lack of attention to detail and low expectations for appearances, appears to contradict the high expectations the owners make clear to guests in the rule book. I am afraid we even rebelled and put the TV on above volume level 12 ... On the staircase there was an electric cable coming out of the ceiling, wrapped around a light fitting and then going back into the wall again ... all a bit dodgy. Breakfast was fine. But not that special. Nice setting. Staff at breakfast were nice.

Quiet peaceful location Uncomfortable bed, no attention to detail, the brochure and website made the hotel look a lot better than it actually was.
