Best Western The Rose And Crown HotelHigh Street, TN9 1DD Tonbridge (Show map) Good, Score from 134 reviews“Friendly staff, very accommodating and eager to please. Quaint old building in a great location on the High Street. Cute welcome basket in room on arrival. The town was equally charming”
Jessica,

The Best Western Rose & Crown Hotel is an old English coaching inn, set in the heart of Tonbridge. It is in the middle of Tonbridge High Street, across from the Ancient Castle and Tonbridge Public School. The Rose and Crown is an impressive Tudor building, once a busy posting and coaching house. Many parts of the hotel still retain its original character with oak beams and Jacobean paneling. Easy access to the M25 freeway, Gatwick Airport and the Channel Tunnel. Hever Castle, Chartwell, Churchill's home, and Penshurst Place are only a short drive away. Hotel Rooms: 57, Hotel Chain: Best Western.

Staff were ok, breakfast was very good and rooms acceptable Bathroom facilities, shower did not work at all, water pressure so low that it took 10 mins for the loo cistern to fill up and water was not available when any other taps were used. Bathroom is very outdated and in need of replacing and redecorating.

The location was excellent. The staff were expecting me and were pleasant. The room was cold and 'Tired'. It was in need of a bit of tlc. I had to call down to reception three time to have the Wi-Fi reset which was also difficult to log into.

Good location and generally friendly staff. Sadly the hotel was almost dead even on the Saturday night. Radiator in the room did not work. Some members of reception staff very disinterested.

The location of the hotel is convienient for the local tourism and shopping facilities Although on the hotels web-site, it advises of Heated Towel Rails, these were not turned on, and given that we stayed at the end of november, the central heating was insufficient to warm the room, which we found cold all night. The room pictures displayed on the web site, bear little significance to the room we stayed in, it was described as a "Superior Room, (Room No 12), and the first thing we noticed, was that the net curtains were virtually hanging off of the ceiling, as the wire was too long, The only critisism of the washing facilities, was that there was very little, if any pressure to the showers, which was bearly a trickle. This was to be a memorable and relaxing weekend away, however, we feel that we were not able to fully enjoy the stay, due to the aforementioned reasons

The service was excellent, especially on the second morning when, having discovered that our breakfast had been forgotten, they did everything to remedy the error! The recent refurbishment is a disaster. The large open plan style has ruined a characteristic "olde-worlde" hoten and left it cold and uninviting. WHY CHANGE IT!!!

The staff were very friendly, however the rooms in the original building had warped floorboards. Although this was part of the charm. I would still visit again.

Excellent Staff and good bar area situated in the heart of Tonbridge The main issue was the room-the bathroom was terrible. Cleanish but just poorly fitted. Very noisy simply from the room above. Hotel literature and kettle etc all bundled in a basket. Overall, a poor experience.

Very good location. Lovely foyer, reception, bar and dining room. In fact, all common areas were exceptionally well presented and clean. Whilst the staff were very friendly and polite, the room let us down quite a lot. 1. We had to clamber over linen which was all over the passage on our arrival. 2. The shower head was loose, and in fact came off during my first shower! 3. The temperature control on the shower was very "iffy" and when I eventually got the temperature right, the spray was pitifully weak. The shower head desperately needs either replacing or alternatively, a good clean. 4. The bath appeared initially to be dirty, but on inspection I decided that it was merely old and scarred. There was a very unpleasant green run under the taps to the bath, and the bottom of the tub was not pleasant at all. 5. Only one side table attached to the bed. My wife had to put her book, cup, etc on the floor. I am not sure whether you have just taken over the running of this particular hotel, but we did feel disappointed. The hotel room was really not up the standards we expected of Best Western.

One of the windows in the room did not shut properly and another was broken on the outside. Also there did not seem to be any way of switching from bath to shower as with a normal mixer-tap arrangement. As the room was at the front of the hotel it was quite noisy.

The shower did not work properly and the shower cubicle was dirty. I expected compensation for this but was just told 'oh yeh I'm sorry' by the receptionist. Very poor and I'm unlikely to use best western again. Clean the shower!!

Excellent breakfast cheerfully served. The location was ideal for our purposes. Parking difficulties. Some 4x4's and other large cars were badly parked and a white van over a no parking sign. Suggest restricting large vehicles to certain bays. Also the room tv only worked for one programme! No tea bags in room and not enough milk! LIke so many hotels your customer satisfaction questionnaire is badly designed. I could easily improve it for you. For example, the question below cannot be answered realistically - recomment to whom and for what purpose/occasion? The "hotel classification" question is dreadful and the answers will not help you. Hotel was easy to find and convenient. Good to have on site parking. The lights in the room didn't work properly and the shower wasn't very powerful. The cushions on the bed had horrioble stains on and needed a clean. The breakfast was overpriced and selection / quality was quite poor for the price. For the price, the rooms needed a refurb.

When we first saw our room, The Victoria Room, the first thing we noticed, was the Four-Poster bed. It looked, and was very comfortable. We also liked the lop-sided wardrobe, as it gave the room an "olde worlde" feel about it. We were told that The Queen Mother had stayed in that room, and if she was as comfortable as we were, she would have enjoyed her stay. The cleanliness was tip top, and although we didn't use them, there were Tea and Coffee making facilities. We visited the Castled, and we both have said that we would definitely stay there again. The only beef we have, is, when we booked in, although we were paying by cash, and I had the cash in my hand, they still took my Visa Debit card and swiped it on their machine. Although no money came out, it put the £100 "on hold" and therefore, one of our Direct debits couldn't get paid on the right day. We were told it would be held for five days before being released again.

The hotel was 5 minutes from my sisters house and was very easy to find once you have sussed the one way system. We had one of their refurbished rooms and I would only grade it as a "B". The room was clean enough and the bed was comfortable. The window in the bathroom had clear glass and not frosted. The shower was a mixer tap but the cold water pressure is too high and its either scalding or freezing. Also none of the fittings on the windows had been screwed on properly. The restaurant was being refurbished which they advised to us before we arrived. The breakfast service was in one of their function rooms, it was slow and everyone was on large communal tables with little room for access.
