The Best Western Rose & Crown Hotel is an old English coaching inn, set in the heart of Tonbridge. It is in the middle of Tonbridge High Street, across from the Ancient Castle and Tonbridge Public School. The Rose and Crown is an impressive Tudor building, once a busy posting and coaching house. Many parts of the hotel still retain its original character with oak beams and Jacobean paneling. Easy access to the M25 freeway, Gatwick Airport and the Channel Tunnel. Hever Castle, Chartwell, Churchill's home, and Penshurst Place are only a short drive away. Hotel Rooms: 57, Hotel Chain: Best Western. Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 15:47 from United Kingdom.

Staff were ok, breakfast was very good and rooms acceptable Bathroom facilities, shower did not work at all, water pressure so low that it took 10 mins for the loo cistern to fill up and water was not available when any other taps were used. Bathroom is very outdated and in need of replacing and redecorating.

The location was excellent. The staff were expecting me and were pleasant. The room was cold and 'Tired'. It was in need of a bit of tlc. I had to call down to reception three time to have the Wi-Fi reset which was also difficult to log into.

Stayed with my elderly parents who mislaid their key which I said I would return when it was located which it was the next day and returned. Didn't appreciate the phone call to say I'd be charged £50.00 the next day when I was at a family wedding!

Convenient from railway station. Quiet and cosy. Staff freindly. Arriving late about 10pm I was unable to get even a sandwich let alone a hot meal. very disapointing as although lots of eateries in Tonbridge only place open was a kebab shop!!

Although the staff at the beginning was hardto communicate with due to a foreign employee, they proved to be excellent. When we first got to our room we noticed that it wasn't a refurbished room and they moved us to a different room which my partner and I absolutely loved. The bathroom facilities were all inconsistent... We booked three rooms and including our first room we got to see 4 rooms in the hotel. The refurbished room had excellent facilities but the other three were below par especially for the price we paid. One of the toilets wouldn't flush and one of the showers was so small my partner cpuldnt stand up in it. Other than that, I loved the old English feel of our room, the victoria room.

We were recommended to stay here by others. We had initially a fantastic experience - room very warm & great for what we paid, lunch good & dinner fantastic with the staff being friendly & helping to make the evening. Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by the shockingly disappointing attitude we recieved from a manager when we commented about the use of small side plates for the breakfast buffet- not only was she abrasive but continued her rant into the kitchen where we could see! Truly disappointing as we hoped we had found somewhere to stay on regular trips to tunbridge wells. Standard of continental poor considering high quality of other food. Whether we try here again - we'll see Location is good, lunch & evening food is great!

The downstairs bar / restaurant had recently been upgraded & was superb. A very good mix of old & new design. The barman / nightwatchman was very welcoming The downstairs lacked a big open fire. The rooms need upgrading. I dont mind using a key , but the room locks need upgrading to feel more secure - I certainly would not want to leave anything valuable in a room. The shower was really terrible - either boiling hot , or nothing from the cold if you turn it down - a shame as the bathroom was otherwise spotless. Therefore it would be impossible to stay more than one night. The tv needs to be slightly bigger. All of the trim / skirting board running along the wall at the head of the bed was coming away from the wall. Long winding corridors to the rooms need improved lighting & fire exit signs.

The location was excellent for attending a funeral at Tonbridge Parish church. Staff very pleasant and accommodating re late check -out so that we could prepare for the funeral and leave our car there during the service. En-suite very confined. Window double glazing very dirty.

A Lovely welcome on arrival by the the manageress, check in was quick and efficient. The reception and bar area were all of a clean standard, with the bar/restaurant having some character, as you would expect form a 16th century establishment. The location of the hotel is on the high street and gives you almost immediate access the the local shops. Our room, the Victoria suite was of wonderful character with a four poster bed, original oak paneled walls and sloping floors which added to the character. The shower in the room was of the power type and was far more appropriate than the limited bath. Our children were located in a twin room int he more modern-ish rear of the hotel, their beds were of a decent standard, but there were negatives to this room. Our children were located at the back of the hotel in a twin room, which is a modern build and not in the same league as our suite. Their room did small of stale air and really could have done with a god airing. Additionally the shower was luke warm and lacked power, which resulted in them having to use our room. A negative on the Victoria Suite/Room was the bath as it was small and uncomfortable, but the shower more than made up for this. My main area of concern was the security to the room which could be described as average with a very loose yale lock. There was a little noise pollution from the bar area below the following morning. However, we we were having a lie in until 10:00 after a party the night before and we did not notice any noise on our early hours return to our room. We would have had breakfast in the hotel but IMHO if feel £10.00 per head is a tad expensive for Tonbridge, particularly as there are sufficient cafes within five minutes walk from the front of the hotel That said, these issues did not detract from our stay there and we would return

I had one of the worst nights sleep in any hotel that I can remember.Outside my window there was a loose cover on a fuse box which was banging against the wall all night long. The receptionist was unconcerned. If I had stayed in a Permier Travel Inn I would have been refunded. I will not stay at a Best Western Hotel on any future business trips.

Friendly staff, very accommodating and eager to please. Quaint old building in a great location on the High Street. Cute welcome basket in room on arrival. The town was equally charming The mattress was slightly lumpy, but my main issue was that there was only one spare outlet in the room. Made charging things while working difficult

Very convienant for shopping and central location. I stayed in tonbridge purely to attend an evening show at a local church and this stay had made it possible. Its was not a holiday. Evening dining can be rather expensive. And so was the breakfast. So mostlyate out.
