The main building is fabulous. Plasterwork is amazing, Next time I would pay extra for a better room
Bed only average, room nice but furniture average and TV tiny, wi fi a but hit and miss. Consider paying a bit extra for a better room
oldie worldie, rooms plenty of space, breakfast is fab, we go this hotel every year
closeness to the town
the shower. pathetic.
Old fashioned ambiance, staff standards; food
coffee-filter and sometimes a little 'stewed'
Old House. Old Style ambience. Such friendly staff. Excellent value
The room was spacious, clean, comfortable. Enough storage for clothes and shoes. The staff were excellent, very helpful. Breakfast menu gave a variety to suit most tastes, and the portions were not stingy. The hotel itself was lovely to look at, with plenty of grounds to sit and relax in, weather permitting. Surrounding areas had assortment of venues, i.e. cinema, pubs, restaurants. We will certainly visit there again.
The only problem was trying to find the hotel. Better signage on the main and side roads would have saved phone calls to ask directions. The receptionist was very good, though had the hotel been busier, other guests may have become annoyed due to length of time being on the phone. A sign on the fence would ensure customers would not think it was a "dead end".
friendly and courteous staff, general decor.
cold hallways to room.
Staff where excellent hotel was clean and enjoyed my stay
T v was to small and breakfast took to long to come to us but when it dad it was very nice
Had a very comfy night, lovely room, clean and well equipped. Nice bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous.
Creaking floorboards, sloping floors, single glazed sash windows, wide staircase with carved newel posts, mosaic tiled floors, log fire in the bar, and the most ornate panelled dining room door I think I've ever seen. The hotel has managed to retain many original features including the most intricate plaster ceilings on the ground floor. The staff (and owner) were polite and helpful at all times.
I struggled a bit with the password protected wi-fi, but that could just be me learning to use a new phone at the time.
Excellent service at the breakfast table.
This hotel is a real find, old and quaint wiv excellent staff. The food in the restaurant was top notch and the rooms were large and comfortable
Its on the biggest hill in the world if you are disabled its a huge problem
