Travelers should be warned there there are steep steps to get to the room (unless you book the downstairs room). This was a huge surprise and problem for us as we had a lot of heavy baggage and it could not be left downstairs.

Horley is a fairly safe town to spend the night before/after a flight. It has nice food shops & cafes. Near to Gatwick but not noisy. Quiet, pleasant. A bus ride to Crawley, an easy train to London. Not overpriced.
Best place is the 8 Bells (or is it 6 Bells?!) down a residential road just off the main road & by the parish church - lovely! - its a delightful oldy-worldy country gastro pub on the doorstep, which is well-known for great food & atmosphere.
People usually find Horley pleasant... you can safely walk around & there is a Lidl & Waitrose within walking distance (in the centre)... The local Wetherspoons does a good cheap breakfast. (Later, the fish & chips/burger are ok, so ok for cheap filling food. Be warned, though, the manager could do with some improvement!)
Horley is great for overnight stays, before moving on!

This is a stupid question, I stayed at the airport, not in Horley town and I only stayed there because I had an early flight. I was not there as a tourist and I doubt anyone would be, as it is an airport town!

This was just a short 24hr transit of international flights, but the hotel location at the airport terminal and access to the train station (to London and elsewhere) could not have been more convenient

Convenient and very near the south terminal.
Convenient and very near the south terminal. Clean and efficient . Breakfast selection good but dining room far too hot ! Quick check-in and no standing on ceremony. Modern rooms - fairly new block of bedrooms.
The room and bathroom were great.
It is 4 minutes far away from the Gatwick airport by car/cab.
There is a train station next to the hotel, if you are coming from London just leave train at airport station and put it on google to get a train returning one station back to Horley station. This Horley station is in a walking distance (5-10min).
If you arrived at the Gatwick, it is the same thing, just get a train to Horley station and avoid the abusive price of cabs there (~15 pounds for 4 minutes ride).
The host was very helpful and guided me to the hotel even though I had called very late. It’s a lovely place and the walk to Gatwick airport is easily manageable and through a pleasant park. Room was a good size and very comfy with free snacks and drinks rather than the usual expensive mini-bar. Host was there to see me off in the morning with a smile. Will certainly book again if travelling from Gatwick, thanks very much!
This is an airport hotel but seemed rather better than others we have used in terms of value for facilities. Gatwick has several but they are more expensive.
This does the job and is a short walk from the check in. We even left our luggage the night before so had less stress and just walked to the plane!
Breakfast was a good surprise - plenty to eat and some treats in a clean area, constantly replenished.
Greta location for those taking an early flight from Gatwick. The hotel is around 10 min away on foot from the train station.
After having an issue with our shower, the owner offered himself to give us a lift to the airport early in the morning, waking up specifically for that. Very kind, mindful and caring. They keep the hotel clean and comfortable. The area is very quiet, and comfortable beds.
Very close to Gatwick airport. TBH no other reason to use this hotel - if you were visiting towns/places in the area I'd suggest there are nicer locations.
I was pleasantly surprised at the range and quality of food and drink in the restaurant - better than normal budget hotel fare. The shuttle bus from the airport terminal is efficient and not too expensive (£7 return, Jan 2023)
Can’t beat the location right it Gatwick Terminal 2. Clean bed, very quiet. So if you just want to sleep this fits the bill. A cool concept for a miniature hotel.
It is, however, tiny!! You wouldn’t want to spend much time here (also not good if you are not athletic enough to climb into the bunk pod, or if you get claustrophobic - it’s veeery small)
I absolutely enjoyed that, I did not have to leave the airport building and go out into that cold, miserable, rainy, gray, English weather. The fact that you can roll your suitcases directly from Gatwick airport straight through the tunnel into the lobby of the hotel was a dream and very appreciated.
The staff was excellent.
I missed my connection at Heathrow and I was redirected to Gatwick. After a long day of disruption, arriving at Gatwick and finding the hotel inside the terminal was such a relief. Check-in was 5 minutes and dinner was simple but nice.
Close to Gatwick. The shuttle from the hotel to Gatwick was very helpful although there is an additional charge. The breakfast was nice also although there is an additional charge for it. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
This is a very nice hotel that is very convenient if you're flying in and out of Gatwick Airport. The room itself was large, very comfortable with a fridge, large TV and excellent bathroom facilities.
Not too far from Gatwick. There is hotel transfer for a little less than taxi. Pub nearby w good good/drink. Check-in staff very nice, but English not so good.
